Nebraska Point Spread?
Anyone seen a point spread? I saw a tweet where the thought was going to be URI +6.5....

Re: Nebraska game
Pretty rare for spreads to be out this far in advance for college hoops.. Likely won't be widely available until Saturday.

Re: Nebraska game
I saw KMac tweet that it was URI -3, but I think he was joking. I'm not a bettor, but I did check out a few betting sites that seemed reliable but couldn't find a line for anything later this week.

Disano guessed Neb -6.5. McNamara thought Rhody favored, can't see that. My guess is Neb -3.5

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Probably won't be released late Friday or early Saturday. Not like football with the lines coming out a week in advance. My guess is Rhody a 3 point dog (I look to Sagarin's ratings for potential point spreads before they're out).

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Nebraskas a top 25 team, has won both games by 20+ pts, and returns 5 starters from last years tournament team yet u guys think we'll only be 3 pt underdogs?? Vegas lines are heavily factored on public perception, and that would be the ultimate respect towards Rhody which i don't think will happen. I would say we'll be at LEAST 6 pt underdogs, my guess is Rhody +8

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Nebraska will be a 4-5 point favorite.
Rhody gets 4-5 points for being at home.
In other words, if the game was at a neutral site, Nebraska would be an 8-10 pt. favorite.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
To win this game, URI needs to do 2 things better than they've been doing them:
Limit turnovers to around 12 or so. 15-20 TO's=Loss
Make at least 70% of our FT's, if not, hope Nebraska has an off game at the line.
Maybe I'll add, make at least 35% of our 3 point attempts.
Sounds like a lot, but imo it's very doable.
I think we're going to jump on them early. Have the keep the intensity up all game, and not disappear for any significant stretches.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Funny you mention getting off to a quick start.. I saw an presser with Coach Miles today....
He was talking about how his starters have been outscored 30-15 thus far and how they have gotten off to slow starts. I'd love for us to get off to a fast start, get the crowd into it, and not let up.
They also have been pretty weak on the glass. We need to bury them on the boards.
Turnovers will always be a key stat for us

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
I agree with you for sure.
We're going to have our ups and downs, in this game and most of them going forward, it's hard not to when our backcourt is so young and our frontcourt is so thin.
Staying out of foul trouble is also key, especially Gil, Hassan, and JT. The less Iffy and JR are in the game, the better.
I think we're going to see more JG and less BM this game too. Time to see what we've got.

This is the only site I could find any sort of reading on the game. They have Nebraska winning by 1 point, 67-66.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Let's hope that doesn't happen. We've had enough of "almosts" for too long now, whether it was during JB's time here or Hurley's so far.
At some point we've got to start winning the close ones. Against good or not-so-good teams.

It is encouraging to see "experts" expecting to see a game where one bounce of a ball could give us our biggest win in years.

Interesting site. They give us a 42.5% chance at winning vs Nebraska.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
They only count 27 games. We have 29, although 1 is the D2 game. Where is the other?
They aren't far off overall imo. If we only win 15 or 16 games though, not good.
9-9 in conference is the worst case scenario right now. To me, anyway.

We have 29 games but two of our opponents are TBD as of right now. I think they're only projecting known match-ups.rambone 78 wrote:They only count 27 games. We have 29, although 1 is the D2 game. Where is the other?

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Following Jeff Sagarin's ratings all week, Nebraska has slipped a bit with their rating according to him. Team vs. Team, he's got Nebraska as about a 3 pt. favorite. Accounting for home court, he actually has Rhody as about a 1 pt. favorite now. I could absolutely see this game as a pick'em when the lines come out late tonight.
I really do think the home crowd puts us over the edge tomorrow night. These kids will feed off a building they haven't seen 100% pro-Rhody in their careers.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
We need EC Matthews to perform up to par.
This could be a coming out party for our freshmen, too.
Need to keep Gil and Hassan out of foul trouble.

First line is out from an offshore book, BetOnline. We're coming in at a 2.5 pt dog. Just about what I thought it would be. Interested to see what sharper books in Vegas (LVH specifically) open at. Either way, we should win this game.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Can absolutely see that Twisted. Naturally, you see a ranked team, you assume they're better. Take into account a Big Ten school playing an unproven (and unknown too) will mean the public will be betting Nebraska. Maybe not 3 points, but could see it moving as high as 4.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Wow i was wrong. As someone who actively bets college bball games, I'm surprised to see we're only 3 pt underdogs. I know im gonna get shit for saying this, but i think I would take Rhody +3 if we had Hare. Otherwise, I'd probly lean towards Nebraska -3 but i'm just gonna lay off this one completely and enjoy it. Lets go Rhody!!!

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
I'll assess tomorrow, but most likely laying off of this one. Don't need any more added stress, and I'd like to just take the game in for what it is. Games like these do not come to Kingston often, have to make the most of it as a fan.

The spread remains at Nebraska -2.5, but could change up or down a point tomorrow. I think it will stay as is though.

Kearney blue posters all guessing spread between -3 and -8.5 Nebraska favored
As of this morning, game day, 5 different Vegas betting houses (including Wynn) have identical point spreads with Nebraska -1

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
Good respect from Vegas with the opening line given how this looks on paper and trend (we havent beaten a ranked team in 15 years.) Public on rhode island which is surprising. Spread coming down.

Re: Nebraska Point Spread?
I'm actually seeing the public (in terms of bets placed, not $$$) is actually on Nebraska today, yet the line keeps coming down. Likely means sharp money on us, which is the best kind. Still a wait and see, but it looks like a 70/30 split in favor of Nebraska. May put a small wager down tonight, but nothing big. I really think the home court advantage will push us over the edge tonight.

The spread means Vegas not sold on Neb as a top 25 team
