as much as i praised hassan earlier he messed up the last play, set an awful pick on Xs man which threw the entire play off. sucks

great defensive effort for 40 minutes. bring that all year and find some offense and we are in business.

tough night for EC but had the guts to take big shots. im ok with that.

Good experience for the freshman.

Whole team springboard from this!! Add Mike A to the roster and keep working

To have the ball with a chance to win and not get off a good shot...HURTS. To have a BS call on the loose ball. Hurts.

But I was proud of this team tonight. I think we have officially started on the road to respect. We WILL win some big games this year.

the first choice was for Munford to take the last shot, PC did a good job forcing it out of his hands. EC threw up what amounted to a fade away in desperation.

we missed at least a handful of layups.

It was tough to see EC so dejected after missing that last shot. Hurley and Aaman immediately ran out to grab him has he was hunched over hands on knees. It was a really tough shot, but in the end I think it makes him even better. Him and Hassan are going to be special. I think tonight proved that more than ever, in my eyes at least.

The layup drills in practice next week will be relentless. Championship teams make all their driving layups in transition. Clearly fixable and we probably won't see much more of it.

We won the game except for the scoreboard.....

If these guys can find some offense they will be OK.

So many chances to win, so many missed layups and 50% FT shooting.

PC wasn't any better either.

But that game was there for the taking. Would have been huge for their confidence.

Unfortunately this loss reminds me too much of last year, but the difference is this year we have more young talent and will get better.

be proud that you made our frontcourt (previously a strength) look like a bunch of little boys. i think even though you didn't win, you cost us a few games down the line at how easy it is to make batts look like a pansy boy.

I get what you mean by this, in that the final outcome was alot like last year, but there is so much more promise this time around. Last year we had outcomes like this and that was our ceiling, this year we haven't even scratched the surface with some of these guys.

You're right peeps, we got more upside than you guys right now.

Our defense has come a LONG way from just a couple of games ago, and I would imagine it will get even better after the upcoming break.

Man, if we just had a couple guys who could score.....

EC will, so will Hassan. Gil was big tonight, he's finally the guy we thought he was.

Yes Adam, I totally agree. The tough thing about tonight, is that it was PC we lost to. Good things are ahead, maybe we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Next year is going to be SO huge recruiting wise for this program!!!!

Which doesn't look good right now. Dunn might play later this season, but aren't the suspended players done for the year?

Doesn't exactly help their future with your program, does it?

You guys stole one tonight. There will be no more walkovers for the Friars in this rivalry for a while!

no definitive word on the freshman or dunn to this point.

austin would be this teams 2nd scoring threat and backup PG to dunn. we are a night and day team with dunn in the lineup. his vision is light years beyond cotton.

if the good players we keep recruiting ever actually play... we are going to be a tough out in this game every year. the talent (being recruited and on paper) is superior by quite a bit. i'm just not confident the cards ever fall right for the program.

PC will be fine. Esp if they get those 3 back or some combination thereof. Part of the offensive struggles tonight was due to our defense, Cotton took many tough shots with guys all over him. We kept Henton and Batts at bay, somehow. Not impressed by Desrosiers, seems like a stiff. Gillen drooled over his one athletic move, a 2 foot baby hook over a guy 6 inches shorter than him. Classic homer.

Impressed with the TO number, that and holding Cotton down had to be keys that Danny coached against this week. It worked.

Both teams were shorthanded. I agree not having Dunn probably hurt the Friars more.

But we finally played Hurley defense. Intense. That's what it will take to hang with the better teams.

The offense will improve in fits and starts as the season goes on. Will we have enough to beat the better teams? That's a concern for sure.

Our young players will get better on both ends, and with a couple more pieces hopefully coming our way in the next year or so....

That game was awesome. Best game and best atmosphere I have been to in four years. URI played a tough game. They never let PC get away. No one was intimidated, I absolutely loved what was going on on the court between the players and coaches. Biruta played well, and Hassan played well too. He had a much better second half playing guys bigger than him with a lot more experience. This team fought to the end and we have to be happy about that. A win would have been freaking awesome, but we came up just short. Only real complaint I have on that last play, is that it didn't really seem like we were running a "play". Munford was just running around with it, picked up his dribble, and gave it to EC. I would have rathered Munford shoot the last shot, but I guess if anyone else on that court was gunna put it up, I would want it to be EC. Could have been a huge confidence booster. It was tough seeing him on the court after that last shot. He will have plenty more opportunities like that, and he will hit them.

Great game. Great atmosphere. Great effort.
Don't like giving the ball on the inbounds to your shooter. Give it to Biggie and have X and EC on the wings. There was no way you're going to give it to X on th inbounds and have PC let him get off a shot.

sorry to burst your bubble peeps, but EC Matthews and Hassan Martin on paper and in reality will be of the same caliber of anyone you are putting out there for the next 4 years. can we surround them with more, we will see. in 1-2 years Martin will be a freak, his athleticism and skills are just too much. classic under the radar big time talent, mark my words.

Simply put, we gotta shoot a better % from all areas; I/ve expressed before the need in college hoops game today to have a designated 3 point specialist coming off bench as needed, we don't have that and it hurts(14% from three tonite?) Love the emerging play of Martin, he needs more PT, EC continues to impress(even with the missed shot to win) love Gil coming on, TJ in hi post against zone, I like the way he can distribute from there, missed free throws hurt, glad to see we played them straight up without going to any gimmick defenses; we held Bryce to ZERO points for the first 15 minutes, even around that point, we were behind 29-20 and felt we were right there with them.....I like a lot of what the players gave tonite; continued more PT for EC, Martin, TJ, Biggie, and Mike when healthy, didn't miss Powell. Nice to speak pre-game with Rod and Rhode Island Red at 1/2......

agree with you. they double teamed him on the second screen, to force the ball out of his hands. the EC shot was a last resort. hassan whiffed on a screen though, watch the replay.
