Jordan Hare's Roster Status: Back Out Again
Sounds like he's worked very hard this offseason with a big change in work ethic and attitude since last year. If this kid makes a big jump between his freshman year and this year, it will be huge for this team.

Jordan Hare got my Most Improved player award in Italy. He also seems to be a leader on the team

He's apparently now a legitimate 205- in real life, not just on the roster.McRam wrote:Has he put any weight or bulk on during the off season?

Can't wait to see Hare compete this season with some additional help down low. I think he'll be much improved.

Re: Jordan Hare
It's great to hear this kid has been improving. I ve felt all along that his biggest opponent was between his ears. I didn't know what to expect from him this year. Having him as a legit contributor only makes me more excited about this year.

Re: Jordan Hare
I think he will have an up and down season but there will be more good games than last year and a couple of great games

Re: Jordan Hare
Well, he had a lot going on off the court last year. Tough for an 18 year old.
Also a lack of experience. He did not play AAU ball before his senior year.
Someone has been working with him on his shot. He had no form at all last year.
Now, he squares up and shoots, with good form. If opponents need to guard him
somewhere away from the rim, he becomes a weapon that didn't exist last year.
Don't expect miracles, but improvement.

Supposedly, he looked very good in Italy. The level of competition could be questioned, but it looks like he's made some good strides between his frosh and sophomore year.

Re: Jordan Hare
As Rod mentioned, it cannot be overstated that he actually knows the mechanics of a shot. Even if he can just hit shots under 8ft or less, that will force defenses to respect that instead of just assuming all he can do is dunk.

Re: Jordan Hare
I think rod's got it here (basketball and personal)... on the court, Hare had never been challenged like he was last year. Big adjustment. Of course they worked with him, but he was really just treading water and trying to adapt. He played last year at age 20, will be 21 next month- he's filled out some physically, but he's just a thin guy, which means he has to develop those other parts of his game.

Re: Jordan Hare
in the team situations i observed he is a vocal presence/leader, and a very big personality. as i have always said, we dont often get guys with his god given gifts (height, length, athletic ability), if he ever can put toughness and technique behind that watch out. if all he did was block shots, catch lobs and dunk putbacks it would be a force we hve not seen here in years.

Re: Jordan Hare
He's got a personal situation which isn't going to go away.
Lots of pressure on him to leave for something closer to home.
I don't envy the position he's in, being pulled in different directions.
I guess we'll know a lot more after tomorrow night's event.

Well, if so, (who knows?) Oneykaba will be force fed, ready or not, into prime time.
Moves Aaman up the depth chart. Glad he bulked up over the summer.
With Biruta, Reischel, and Martin, we should be alright up front.

Yeah we'll be alright, he is just such a unique talent, for us anyway. We don't get many 6' 10" shot blockers.

There are certainly bigger things in life than hoops so I hope he does what is best for him and his family. From a purely basketball standpoint, this is killer. When I read that he got 27/10 in the final Italy game, it really got me pumped. Regardless of the competition, that means he was involved big time. Can't replace that type of player. Just hope to manage around it.

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
It has to do with his kid, he being a stand up guy, this is the right thing to do.
Not sure when/if he's going to be back. Certainly a shame with how hard he's worked and how he could really make a name for himself and do big things here and with Hurley.
Let's just hope

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
There was a reason I didn't include him in my projected starting lineup yesterday
I hope he comes back, he's a young father and I think Hurley can have a positive influence on Jordan. I have heard some things about his behavior though. I've learned that unless you're in the close circle around the team, you'll never find out what truly happens.

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
THis would be a truly big loss. Have to feel for Dan Hurley as this would be 2nd year in a row a key player bolted late for personal reasons.
Would have been nice if the state's paper of record had been on this. Instead its college basketball writer was writing articles about the new Catholic Big East FS1 tv ads on Fox World Series telecasts and who the announcers for future games will be. One has to wonder who sets priorities at that rag.

He hasn't made it a secret. His child is his avatar in his Twitter account.
That he's being pulled in two directions since he got here, is a problem
for player and coaches.

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
I really hope Jordan can figure this out and stay at Rhody. I feel this would be a huge loss for us. I see so much ability and potential with Jordan. After watching the games in Italy I am convinced that we have a future star on our roster. Why do bad things happen to us every year! I am keeping my fingers crossed. I know coach will do everything possible to make things work for him to stay.

I think is critical to the success of this years team. Obviously you hope things work out in his personally life first and foremost but after that we need him on the court!

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
I was really looking forward to seeing Jordan's improvement, especially after hearing the positive reports out of Italy and afterwards. Juggling family responsibilities with the demands of being a Div. 1 college basketball player must be overwhelming for a 20-year-old.

Checked in with Bill Koch on Twitter. He says URI being tightlipped (understandably) but it's significant he's still on the roster at GoRhody.com:

Not really. This could drag on for a while.
I don't see them throwing their hands up and saying,
"OK, just leave!"
They'll keep the door open as long as possible, for his return.

He can't be away from classes for too long either, though. Even if he gets Incompletes, I would imagine it would affect his academic eligibility. I suppose we should put aside the speculation until we know what's going on, but I'm worried ....

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
How old is Jordan's child?
I guess if he transfers, he would likely get a "hardship" exemption and be able to play next semester somewhere else. Maybe the question is, what other schools are within driving distance of his home and do they have schollys left and do they have a spot or need for him. Can't be too many.

Re: Jordan Hare's Roster Status?
Losing him would be bad. Missing out on the postseason next year because of APR issues due to this, would be REALLY bad.
I'm going to go on record, saying he stays. Just a hunch. He's got less than 3 more years here, something will get worked out.
If Preston's in Michigan due to family issues, is that due to HIS family, or Jordan's?
