It's interesting, I remember thinking something similar, in that when all of the news broke from Terrell and Abu, I believe it was all through HoopDreamsMag, which is who/what exactly? When you think of credible sources, or at least ones you put a lot of stock in, it wasn't them. They could have gone through Zags, ESPN, or simply done the promoting themselves, seeing as how Twitter was the means of the reveals anyway. So what was the connection that made them use such a low-profile recruiting site as their means of communication? It's interesting speculation on Sherwyn's part.

If we're keeping track of the 247 predictions, just today, one switched from PC to OK. ST., one switched from PC to URI, one switched from URI to OK. ST. and one switched from OK. ST. to URI (I think I got that right).......flip a coin...

OK, I know twitter means nothing, but Jared just followed Steven Middleton, the assistant coach at OK. State. On the eve of the announcement, this makes me a little nervous.

I think it is a mistake to try to read between the lines too much with respect to these tweets, and I also think Zags has a relationship with coaches other than Dan. Dan may be much closer to Zags than we are used to our coaches being with prominent "insider" types, but I don't believe their relationship is so close as to be unique among all coach/media relationships.

Anyone that follows football recruiting is familiar with the concept of "bag men," which I alluded to earlier in this thread. It is a real concern.

For those keeping score at home,
8 players and 2 coaches (Ford and top Assisitant) at OSU followed by Terrell,
4 players, 1 coach (Tirone)followed at URI.
If someone put a gun to my head right now,
I'd say it's OSU.
His buddy will be putting on a BCS school's hat tomorrow.
Competitive nature may may throw Terrell to do the same.
Bag men don't only pay players off. I think Cooley really got jerked around,
moreso than Dan or Preston.
Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

I get the feeling Jared is going to Ok St. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be adding their coaches on Twitter at this point in time.

I'm sure Dan and co. have other prospects lined up. We'll get someone good no doubt, same with a big man. Just may take a big turnaround season like the one coming up, to start landing these types of recruits.

The only negative is that this program invested a lot of time and effort to land this guy, and expected to no doubt, only to see big money swoop in the last minute and steal him, most likely.

No matter how good we get, that is the reality of a program like URI. We are showing we can compete for much higher level recruits, it's getting them that's the hard part. Once their recruitment starts blowing up, it makes it much harder for us.

Do any of you think that big-time money was involved in this? I realize AAU is by nature corrupt, but "this" HAS ALL OF THE MAKINGS OF A FIASCO AND POTENTIAL DISASTER FOR TERRELL AND ABU, IF……
Not only have we been following it, but so have every media outlet imaginable, so I'd believe that the NCAA has been watching very closely.
As much as I despise the NCAA for many reasons, its reach is comparable to governments, in general: it will do whatever it wants, whenever it wants, punish, take, delay, sanction, etc.,

Bress - if you believe in the NCAA, look at Mississippi's football recruiting class last year. Everyone knows they cheated, but if you can't prove it you can't do shit.

Man whether URI gets this guy or not, it's tough for anyone to compete with these kinds of facilities. That's T. Boone Pickens money and Big 12 media revenue right there. Sheesh. This is the women's basketball lockerroom, but due to Title IX, the men have mirroring facilities, there just wasn't a professional video for it.

Still hoping Hurley will pull this one off. Would make it all the more amazing given what OSU is throwing out there to entice recruits.
