Maine has actually won the last two games in the series which URI leads 85-14. Maine only played Rhody twice in the last decade and it was fortuante enough to schedule these games for years where Rhode Island put some of its worst teams in history on the court.

2004 Maine defeats URI 47-44 (URI was 6-22 that season)
2011 Maine defeats URI 76-74 OT (URI was 7-24 that season)

That first loss to Maine was painful. That was the game where Jimmy had to force a FT miss at the end of regulation and it didn't quite work out.

That loss where Jimmy missed the free throw, was oddly enough, to Wagner.

I remember former assistant Dan Theiss being at that Wagner game and was beating his chest very proudly after Wagner beat URI. I guess it didn't end well for him while an assistant under Baron.

If you go on the Arizona basketball site, it is stated that Arizona plays Kansas State in the first game of the preseason nit. If they win, they play the winner of the hofstra/new mexico state game. Unless, I am mistaken, there are four other teams (think of the Mohegan Sun last year when four teams played in the afternoon) and one would be the Rams. Are we playing Arizona or are we playing IN Arizona?

I'm assuming there is no UNH game. I think Bill got his info from erroneous info here. I can't find any reference to it elsewhere. Also, I believe George Mason is a Home game, not Away.

So, here is what I have:

HOME

Exhibition
Southern Conn. St. 11-01-13

Non-conference
Maine 11-08-13
Providence 12-05-13

Conference
Dayton
Fordham
Saint Joseph's
UMASS
Duquesne
George Mason
Richmond
Saint Louis

AWAY

Non-conference
Arizona (NIT)
Detroit 12-08-13
Brown 01-02-14
LSU 01-04-14
SMU

Conference
Dayton
Fordham
Saint Joseph's
UMASS
La Salle
George Washington
St. Bonaventure
VCU

NEUTRAL

Non-conference
TBD (Arizona)
TBD (site TBD)
TBD (site TBD)

So right now at least 23 games with a max of 26 games --- and 1 exhibition

RJ, I think we will have 29 games total this season. That's 3 additional games with the tournament.

Still a few to be announced. One more, is that we're playing GM twice, once in conference play, and once as an OOC game at the Ryan. That game was already scheduled as part of the home-and home deal with them, before they joined the A10.

The confusion over George Mason is understandable since we had a three year agreement to play them, away-home-away, beginning with the 11-12 season before they joined the conference. So I believe we play them twice this season, once at their place as a non-conference game to complete the agreement, and then at Ryan as conference game.

We presently only know about 28 games (3 Home OOC, 6 away OOC, 3 Neutral OOC, 8 home A-10, and 8 away A-10). Per my understanding from reading about schedules, URI could still add three additional games. Given the home OOC schedule is very light at just three games, I would think they would try to get a few more home games. The possible NIT games at the Ryan Center are no given and may not be a part of the season ticket package as the site and opponents are not known and decided on until the first round NIT games are in the books. Given URI will want to charge a similar rate for season ticket packages as years past, I would think there will be several more home games that are not yet publicly known or possibly even finalized.

Regular Season Games Allowed:

31 games in one season, consisting of
27 regular schedule games
+ up to 4 games if in an in-season tournament like the Preseason NIT or Great Alaska Shootout (my quick research showed most are just 3 game tournaments),
or

29 games if not participating in any in-season tournaments.

That would make the home OOC schedule look like this:

NC A&T
Maine
UMass-Lowell
Providence
UNH

There would also still be a strong possibility that Rhody could host a regional pod of the NIT Tip-Off assuming they do not advance out of Arizona to NYC. URI would host three other teams and play two games. Opponents could come from a rumored mix of schools including Norfolk State, East Carolina, Drexel, Ga State, McNeese State, UNC-Asheville, Elon, and FDU.

This home OOC schedule would not be the most attractive. Also keep in mind that the home A-10 slate has also lost regular visitors and high profile programs Temple and Xavier. Given the difficulties with scheduling, it is very important that Hurley get URI to the point that decent programs would consider playing URI at home given the loss would not be perceived "badly". It also may be a good thing that the A-10 schedule will increase by two games (18 conference games) in coming years.

I saw those on the site when I was trying to pay for my seats (unsuccesfully I might add). These are home games. Not sure if they are buy games, but I wouldn't think they are home and home.
