Thanks! I hope so. I plan on bringing my dad, my brother, my nephews, and a co-worker to the game.

I went to the games against JMU and UCF in Orlando last year, there wasn't more than 20 URI fans (granted the team was AWFUL).

Brown will host URI later than usual.

1/2 Thu. RHODE ISLAND

The game will be played during semester break ensuring even less Brown students than usual. I personally would like to see the intra-state games scheduled during classes to maximize student attendance.

Agreed, RF1. Would be a better atmosphere even if this upcoming game will likely be a huge Rhody crowd.

What's less than 0? The last time we went to Brown, I myself was louder than their entire "fan section," nevermind the 30 others we had with us.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

URI should win 20+ games this year. The Pizzitola Center will have a good crowd.
Game is Jan 2 the Thursday Night after New Years. People will be off work, looking for something to do.
URI fans in Rhode Island should definitely attend this game. I know PC fans who are basketball junkies who for sure will go to this game. I'd be surprised if the place does not sell out. It only holds 2800. I'll be getting my tickets as soon as they come available.

I don't think there will be 1,500 people at the Brown game. Everyone will be hungover/tired from New Year's parties. Thursday and Friday will be work days for some. I don't see it happening.

I dunno, Gonzo. Even on some of the less successful seasons where Rhody played up at Brown, it was a virtual sell out.

With the exception of two years ago when Baron was driving the program into the ground and "leading" the Rams to a loss @ Brown (1772 in attendance), these games have usually had good showings:

11-12 1772
09-10 2695
07-08 2775
03-04 1952
01-02 2850

09-10 2695
07-08 2775
03-04 1952
01-02 2850
So basically the 2001, 2007 and 2009 seasons were all sold out since the place only holds a Max of 2800.
I was at two of these games and I remember that they were sold out - I know at one people were turned away at the gate the night of the game. I'll be buying 10 tickets myself the day they become available.
Considering Hurley is now at the helm and there is more excitement about this years team than of any URI Team since Jim Harrick was at URI, I am sure that this game will sell out. I'll be buying my tickets as soon as they become available, not taking any chances at all.
Plus Brown will have a descent team this year.
There were 1772 in a 7 win URI season....................
This will be the most exciting season for State of Rhode Island Basketball in a long, long time. URI, PC, Bryant and Brown are all moving their programs upward.

I will be amazed and shocked if this Brown Game is not sold out, never mind hitting only 2000.

This from Brown's Coach:
"We believe our non-conference schedule will prepare us for another very competitive Ivy League season," said Martin. "We welcome the challenges that await us this year. Our three fellow Division 1 programs in Rhode Island are all rapidly improving and we look forward to playing Providence, URI, and Bryant. Returning to Chicago to play Northwestern will be great for senior All-Ivy Sean McGonagill as well as all the Brown Alumni in the Midwest."
Martin's squad features four returning starters, including first team All-Ivy point guard Sean McGonagill '14, All-Ivy forward Tucker Halpern '14, Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year Cedric Kuakumensah '16, and forward Rafael Maia '15, the Ivy League's leading rebounder, and six exciting freshmen.
The Bears, one of the most improved teams in the nation last season, open their season at home against Binghamton on November 10 at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Rhode Island Rams travel to the Pizzitola Sports Center on Thursday, January 2 for the 157th meeting between the two Ocean State schools.

What's the timeframe for the (tentative?) tournament in Arizona being confirmed?

Would love to make it out there as a URI alum and my father being a Wildcat alum. Would make for a nice vacation.

I wonder if more than a couple hundred URI seats would be available.

Edit: Just a gut feeling but I would go over 2k for the Brown game

The Final 4 and Championship games at MSG are on the 27th and 29th of November respectively. History would dictate that the opening round games would be ~10-12 days earlier. Should start mid-November

Past 5 Games at Brown
2011 Season 1772
2009 Season 2695
2007 Season 2775
2003 Season 1952
2001 Season 2850

Predicting this game has less than 2000 or even 2200 is like saying nothing has changed from the Baron years when in fact things have changed monumentally.
To heck with under 2000, or a measly 2200......This game will sell out for sure. Unless I am completely disillusioned with URI Basketball Fandom for this season the 2800 Seats available for this game will all be occupied - with 75% at least being URI fans.

EC, TJ, and Hare go home, and Preston can have his recruits at the game.
