Nut crusher for PC. The way they were playing I could see them a top 6 NCAA seed...not now.
10-11 seed more likely. Tough conference.

Like when we lost EC it’s going to force some of their young guys to step up and develop faster… long term that’s prob good for them.
But also like when we lost EC I think they will struggle mightily on offensive end. I don’t see them being an ncaa team without Hopkins.

What’s up with Dual?
Kid was talked about as a one and done lottery pick and seems to be having a pretty brutal season thus far.

One and done talk was all based on unrealized potential. He has the tools - great length, good intensity, plays tough defense, has good vision, but the one thing he hasn't showcased is a willingness or ability to score. He seems to only want to shoot when absolutely forced.Rhody15 wrote: ↑8 months agorjsuperfly66 wrote: ↑8 months agoStill an 8 seed on the matrix.theblueram wrote: ↑8 months ago

Derrick Kellogg sighting on Creighton bench. Reminded me of all Rhody Jay's much missed signs and Kellogg losing his mind. Game wise Creighton is an extremely unathletic team.

I loved it. Seeing Kellogg jumping up and down and going quite nutty on the bench. Got to love his enthusiasm.
I thought the same thing seeing Kellogg’s slicked back hair, I also thought of Jay’s signs.
I also thought if there was ever a guy who should be Assistant At PC it’s Kellogg. Looks exactly like he should be from the city of Providence. That look does not belong in Omaha Nebraska.

Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
1980,
I thought it was a tough break for TCU when they got the rebound, up by 2 points, Dickerson went down, and Refs stopped the game. Announcers were saying the game should not have been stopped and play should have continued since TCU had the 5-4 advantage.
Then they go to the monitor and call a flagrant foul.
Almost like since the Refs mistakenly stopped play they wanted to justify the stoppage by calling a flagrant.
So 2 FTs by Dickinson to tie it PLUS Kansas ball which they score and win by 2.
It was an elbow but I don’t think intentional. Not sure I like calling a foul after a replay that was not called during the action - only because Dickinson hit the floor.
What did you think of that one?

Major major swing/ball game essentially. I think they should have let TCU score first. If not, kudos to Dickinson for "soccering" it out there...ramster wrote: ↑8 months ago1980,

Right at this time they would be a lock with non conference wins over Wisconsin and a surging Georgia. Also no bad losses and win over Marquette in conference.I still think they will manage enough wins to get in. Bubble was very soft last year.theblueram wrote: ↑8 months agoThey have a NET of 62. The question is how much of the success the selection committee puts on Hopkins. They absolutely weigh team results post injury higher than preinjury. The most famous time was 2001 Cincy who had the resume on selection sunday to be the #1 overall seed and it wasn't close but Kenyon Martin got hurt and the committee made them a 2 seed. Their reasoning was that the team entering the tournament wasn't the same as the team that earned the resume.woodennickel1 wrote: ↑8 months agoRight at this time they would be a lock with non conference wins over Wisconsin and a surging Georgia. Still lots of games left, so who knows.
Besides do we really care that much about what happens to PC.
Right now, they are behind UConn, Marquette, St. John’s, Villanova, Creighton, and Seton Hall.
Injuries certainly played a major role in Xavier and now PC's chances.

If Hopkins was injured at the end of the season, I agree it could be a potential concern, but there are 16 BE games left + BET. If PC is going to be a tournament team, it was always going to be determined by their production in conference play, which now means proving they can win without Hopkins. PC isn't a tournament team without winning at least 9 more games and beating some good/great teams. Whether or not they can do that is a different question, but I don't expect much of a no-Hopkins bias.RhodyKyle wrote: ↑8 months agoThe question is how much of the success the selection committee puts on Hopkins. I think we're agreeing here. What you said is what I meant when I said the committee weighs post-injury results more. What happens now will be considered more heavily than the Marquette and Wisconsin wins. PC has to right the ship now and start winning to be a tournament team.rjsuperfly66 wrote: ↑8 months agoIf Hopkins was injured at the end of the season, I agree it could be a potential concern, but there are 16 BE games left + BET. Re: Games of Interest - 2023-2024 MBB
PC is going to go through similar to what we went through when EC went down.
Natural transition period with a high usage, alpha offensive star going down. Other guys will have to fill void and develop faster (Dual, Pierre, Castro, Floyd) but offensively they are gonna be a slog on many nights and will have to gut out wins (win ugly). Someone like Carter can will them to win on some nights and they will need that. We had to rely on young guys like Terrell, Garrett and Hassan to fill the void which was a tall task.
In that league it's a daunting ask and if they do make the tourney then IMO Kim English coached his tail off.
That Georgetown game got more interesting that's for sure - with Hopkins they steamroll them, without him it's probably a tighter game.

If PC is a tournament team, I don't think those two wins will be minimized much because PC would have had to prove they were a tournament team by producing without Hopkins.
It's different than a team being 75-80% or more through their schedule and only having a few games left.

So long as PC doesn't collapse they'll probably get in.
Subject to change obviously, but they have
Ten Q1 games, three Q2 games, one Q3 game and just three Q4 games.
Take care of DePaul and G-town and split the rest and they're in easily.
