You can make a case for several teams, but I will still take the Bonnies at this time (with a healthy Pride).PeterRamTime wrote: ↑6 months agoSt Bonaventure is not better than St Joe's. If Pride (high ankle sprain) is still out, they have an even slimmer chance for the upset win.
Right now, with a healthy Pride (13 pts/ 7 rebs, 42% 3PT) I still feel they are the 2nd best team in the A10 just below Dayton.

We'll see, but it's really hard to put the Bonnies ahead of St Joe's with St Joe's having the two best wins in the conference.Jersey77 wrote: ↑6 months agoYou can make a case for several teams, but I will still take the Bonnies at this time (with a healthy Pride).PeterRamTime wrote: ↑6 months agoSt Bonaventure is not better than St Joe's. Both have head scratching losses though (Canisius and Commerce)

You know who Northwestern has also beaten?? URI? Yeah duh...they've also beaten freaking No.1 (at the time) Purdue.
Nothing about college basketball makes any sense.

Couple things on the Canisius loss. Was only the 2nd game for both teams. Longest running series for Bonnie’s - rivalry game early in season. Canisius shot 12-24 3Ps while Bonnie’s 4-20.
Canisius went on a 25-2 run in the 2nd half
Schmidt blamed defense especially in allowing 50% 3P shooting, their own poor shooting of 3Ps and missing 7 FTs.

It's kind of wild to me how widespread these games have become. There is pretty much zero upside to them. In most cases, you'd be better served by just organizing a really intense scrimmage with your rostered players.theblueram wrote: ↑6 months ago If I looked correctly, there are 14 D1 games on tonight and 7 of them are against non D1 teams.

Here's VCU with eligible 2 time transfer Joe Bamisile looking really good.
Bamisile 3-5 2-4 3pt for 8 pts thus far
31-17 7:30 left in the first half.

Northeastern is leading #22 Virginia at Virginia late.
Looks like another loss for us coming up. Even UNH will be a struggle.
Right now I wouldn't say we will even win 10 games this season.
If things dont improve a LOT the next couple of years we'll be looking for another coach. Sad.

I have seen UMass their a lot better then I expected. Huge difference for A10 this year is they don't as many skunks at the bottom of conference this year. Other then Loyola and Fordham and possibly St Louis every team has improved.

IMO Martin has outperformed Archie in 2 ways (and I didn’t think I would say this)…he’s established an identity and he’s punched above their weight in attracting talent (both transfers and recruits). And they look much better than us right now.woodennickel1 wrote: ↑6 months agoI have seen UMass their a lot better then I expected. (C) Bradley Ezewiro for SLU made his highly anticipated season debut Saturday after the federal court ruling and didn't disappoint.
They beat favored La. Tech and Ezewiro scored 17 pts (6-9 FG).
SLU may be a team to watch in conference play once leading scorer Sincere Parker returns.
Not a bad possible starting 5:
1. Parker
2. Jimmerson
3. Hargrove
4. Dalger
5. Ezewiro

Yeah I would agree I originally thought Archie was the better hire but has not worked out that way so far. Still early though. Thing I like about Martin is his players are always tough. PC has had two transfers from his teams both were very hard nosed players.bigappleram wrote: ↑6 months agoIMO Martin has outperformed Archie in 2 ways (and I didn’t think I would say this)…he’s established an identity and he’s punched above their weight in attracting talent (both transfers and recruits). Game played at St Mary’s St Vincent HS where Lebron played.
Duquesne was favored by 4.5 vs Bradley but only won by 2
Bradley started the season hot winning 1st 6 games but Bradley has now lost 5 straight.
Dae Dae Grant went 8-11 FTs in 1st game of season, since then in last 9 games Grant is 53-54 FTs
Andrei Savrasov went 8-9 FG, 1-2 3P, 5R, 2 assists and game high 4 steals vs Bradley.

Kim English doing what Dave Cox should've done here.
If you're a half competent coach and you inherit a turn-key championship caliber program with all-conference players, you should be able to build off that momentum.

PC has the roster / personnel to really really defend right now.
It’s funny bc English is moreso known as an offensive coach. Carter is elite and guys like Gaines, Oduro, Floyd are all above average. That is going to keep them in games all year. I still think they have offensive shortcomings but their defense is likely going to be good enough to overcome that most nights.
The real assessment for English comes next year bc he stepping into a really strong roster with some continuity and leaders in place.

100%. The first couple of years post-coaching change are a direct reflection of the previous guy and the program he had. I don't think English is particularly gifted - but he's at least average enough to keep PC rolling as Cooley had them.bigappleram wrote: ↑5 months ago PC has the roster / personnel to really really defend right now.

Like with what Cooley built, any average coach should be able to ride that bike for a year or two until their system takes hold.
Dave Cox was so below average, that the first 2 years post Hurley we were "almost" good enough to compete, but collapsed.
Kevin Ollie was an objectively bad coach, but within the first 2 years post Calhoun, he won a title.
Hence the situation we find ourselves in, Archie is still peddling uphill, like when Hurley was digging out from the end of Baron.
