Kahlil Brantley , Lasalle ? , Devante Gaines George Mason ? Brandon Davis Texas State ? Brenden Tucker Georgia State ? Not much of a clue since about six guards scored 15 against URI this past season.

If he comes here I hope he can improve his efficiency. Not much better than Bassy's.

Probably Kotright
He is followed and follows both Kenny and Duane.

Kortright's numbers don't excite me all that much at first glance. Came off the bench most of his time at Quinnipiac but did play plenty of minutes. Would be interesting to see what his role here would be (if its even him).

I am not one to read into stats or ratings much at all. Kortright does not move the needle or excite me at all. If it's him I hope I'm wrong and he is or becomes very good. Archie & staff know alot more than me. I am by their side with who they bring in.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
Since plenty of people have found out why I said that yes it is Kortright, don’t know how long Duane followed him before yesterday but Kenny just followed him and he followed right back today or yesterday
Anyways he’s better than the JUCO kid who we were “prioritizing” according to vault
We have to balance our team as well we don’t need to have all scoring first mentality’s first

A PG who shoots FT's at 54%?
That needs work at the very least.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
RV also said Enoch Cheeks was a huge priority for Miller & URI. While Cheeks would have been nice , and I know URI contacted him as they have 100's others . But to say he was a "top priority " is Disingenuous to say the least. But Friar clown Can not help himself to try to throw a dig at Archie Miller.Dino611 wrote: ↑1 year ago Since plenty of people have found out why I said that yes it is Kortright, don’t know how long Duane followed him before yesterday but Kenny just followed him and he followed right back today or yesterday

Wouldn’t shock me if Archie goes and gets another one, doesn’t wanna trust freshman and we have no one from our backcourt returning (idk if u can count b west)

So far we're bringing in JUCO and lower level transfers.
Are we moving to America East?
Sorry if I'm not excited.
Trust Archie you say.

This is what I was thinking as well. Hopefully he is one of the PGs we are bringing in, as opposed to THE PG we are bringing in. We need more than one anyway.

Or Tyson Brown for that matter?
And how can anyone freak out like this when we aren't even close to being done in the portal?

We brought a dude from UNC who didn't show, a dude from Bama who could barely hit a wide-open layup, and a dude from Seton Hall who I like but I expected him to have a better freshman year..
Plenty of examples of players from low majors that go to that next level and succeed. I think Brown and House upgrade this roster.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
Seriously. And there is still plenty of guys in portal to get. Estevez & Dubsky look like great gets despite some not liking them because of rankings. Danny did an incredible job and everyone loves him and should, but don't forget he won 8 games in his initial season. First of all, stay away from comparisons. Archie, arguably has a more difficult rebuild and got a late start last year. The lack of patience by some can be annoying. Unfortunately URI is not Kansas or Duke. I guess some believe a team will rebuilt with a snap of the fingers. Miller won big at Dayton and was good enough to get to Indiana. That says something to his ability. Although I would love to see 5 incredible signings the 1st day the portal opened , I'm also patient and realisticPeterRamTime wrote: ↑1 year agoHow exactly is Jaden House not legit?rambone 78 wrote: ↑1 year ago So far we're bringing in JUCO and lower level transfers.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
He's a three year bench player at Quinnipiac...
I'm okay with him being a rotational piece off the bench for us, but if the expectation is for him to start then I'm underwhelmed to say the least.

I hope it is not the kid from Quinnipiac nor the JUCO from Dodge City.
Neither move the needle. Slightly better than Bassy doesn't cut it. Both have putrid FT shooting numbers.

Actually, Gio, we're the ones being patient. I'd rather take 5 more weeks for the next signing, but have it be a 4 star athlete, than just banging out signings two times a week, just to get a reaction out of the fan base.
House and Brown were good pickups. Let's continue that trend. We need starters, not bench players, not role players.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
I'm sorry, but if you can't start for Quinnipiac, you can't start here.
At least Pride was a four year starter, and one of two players that made up the highest scoring backcourt in NCAA Div 1 during the 2021-22 season.
https://www.syracuse.com/sports/2022/08 ... -game.html
And if Pride can be that effective with a loud mouth personality to deal with like that, then he can pretty much be counted on to be a team player just about anywhere.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
Jermaine Harris had Kansas West VA among other power 5s.
How did he work out??
Tyson Wheeler , ARD and many others has few offers how did they work out?
It sounds good though.
Fla Atlantic and SD St were in the final 4. Compare their players offers or The schools that were interested to that of Kansas ,& Purdue. Who's season would you take?

You're talking about a HS recruit. This guy has already played 3 seasons. It's telling if a bunch of P5 teams are reaching out to him vs some bottom tier A10 teams...giovanni wrote: ↑1 year ago Jermaine Harris had Kansas West VA among other power 5s.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
Yeah, but Tyson Wheeler and ARD were recruited out of high school. they were freshmen. These are transfers from other schools. apples and oranges.
If you are playing behind someone at Quinnipac, you don't belong on this team, I don't care what your little 30 second tik tok video shows you doing.
Sorry, but you should have made sure you had a landing spot before you decided to leave Quinnipiac, because giving a little wink to KJ on social media, isn't going to do it.

I just want to see us landing a couple of the bigger names that we are currently involved with.
I'm not ready to start ragging on the staff yet.
But they have to show me something more.
There's still time to do it. Just do it!

That's what people are thinking after Johnson and Woodward followed him on Twitter.
Also, I'm really not trying to shit on him before he plays here, but his shooting percentages just aren't good. And making only 57/104 of his FTs this year is concerning.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
I'm fine with Kortright as a bench piece. I really don't know what the staff is thinking about the point guard position. Do they want fillers like this kid and the juco with the plan of Cam developing and dealing with some of his growing pains, or do we want to try to get an immediate impact starter with a year or two left and run the risk of Cam barely playing and transferring... Then again, he could play a lot and transfer so I guess it doesn't matter.
His dunk 50 seconds in was powerful.

Tchikou shot better from the FT line at 58.6% last season... I like House and Brown, but both of those guys shoot < 70% FT as well. I really don't wanna go back to the Cox era where we were losing games just from missing a bunch of FTs.

I understand and totally agree. Like I had said I'm not into stats, offers and rankings but this one has me puzzled if factual. I have faith in Archie & staff, if others don't I understand. I think even though I believe we have to be patient, but, myself, like most , i am eager to see some news and a splash. I think I'm simply trying to make any news positive.

Agreed. When I originally heard the name I thought of our game and was pumped but the more I look at these numbers it looks like another Bassy to me. Rather keep the kid from RI. But if Archie wants him as a bench piece I think he can make an impact in some games.rhodyram22 wrote: ↑1 year agoThat's what people are thinking after Johnson and Woodward followed him on Twitter.

Yeah that's fine. I'll take him as a bench piece. Still feel like we need Archie to hit on one of these "big transfers". Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
Last year, they got away with getting sleepers who no one ever heard of, nevermind anyone else even recruiting them.
That's just not going to cut it this year. You had your chance to do that, most of them tanked.
You know, during the Cox years, we would be looking at a couple of players for the same position, and the one that the entire board was ga-ga over, that would be the one that Iggy would come on and report we were "backing away from". I think we just don't like to admit when we lose recruiting battles with another school. Really, it's O.K. I would prefer the honesty.
This year already, Fordham came in and swept up Rivera. These things happen. Conversely, we beat out St Bonny for Brown. At least we're all seeing the same things in these players though.
We lost Obi Toppin to Dayton at one point and also Bones Hyland to VCU. It's going to happen. We're comparable programs, but sometimes the player just wants to stay in the greater Richmond area where they come from. Sometimes we'll win out. If we can climb the ladder to the top of the A-10, then maybe we'll win a higher percentage of those battles.
Giving a scholarship to Bassy v2.0 or just someone in general who can't make 60% of their FTs is not the cure though.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
FTs in my mind, are kind of like Special Teams in Football. Why can't we ever have a team that is consistently good across the board at FT shooting? ever?
Because at the end of the game, you know the other team is going to foul the weak link who you can't take off the floor.
Is this player so important that we have to sacrifice that?
