Exactly, Ace. Dan's trying to get coaches to follow the same mindset the Hurley's use with scheduling where they're unafraid to play a team for fear of losing. Too many coaches are super conservative with scheduling and that leaves up and coming programs like Rhody in a difficult position when trying to convince quality opponents to commit to a home and home.

Definitely. Last year- they were nothing, everybody knew they were nothing, and it killed him.

Rhody came up with the idea a few years back to make the release a big event and would tell us of a few games at a time each day over the course of 3 days in September. Gets us to check the website daily. I don't see them deviating from that practice any time soon. So plan to know whats up in early September again.

Been confirmed, and we will have a LEGIT and very possible top 5, certainly top 10 team lined up on the road for the beginning of THIS season.

Holy shit I can't wait for us to shock the world.

The ESPN preseason top 10 picks for 2013-14 are as follows:

Kentucky
Louisville
Michigan State
Arizona
Duke
Ohio State
Florida
Syracuse
Michigan
Oklahoma State

That would mean the opponent is likely to be one of these teams per Blue Man's post. Interestingly, URI has played half of these teams (even beat two) in the last six seasons.

Per the basketballtravelers.com board:

Oklahoma State is looking for two games. 1. Guarantee game in Stillwater on November 12, 2013, will pay good guarantee with possible lodging; 2.December 14, 2013 at Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City, preference would be a high major neutral/neutral series with a return the following season to a neutral location in your area

Michigan State needs up to 1 guarantee game on the weekend of Dec 28/29, 2013. Date needed depends on Big Ten start date.

Louisville is looking for Home games against preferred RPI better than 200. Willing to pay a VERY competitive number. Dates we need are Nov 15th, Dec 3rd, Dec. 4th, Dec 10th,

Haha!! Ok, lets just change the topic completely since we won't know until its official. In the meantime, ATP, I am trying to plan a family vacation for around November/December. Any recommendations on where I should go. I am considering the following...

Kentucky
Louisville
Michigan State
Arizona
Duke
Ohio State
Florida
Syracuse
Michigan
Oklahoma State

Sorry for going off topic...

it seems Dan or Murray has a relationship with Sean Miller at Arizona so that would be my guess. I seem to remember reading about Dan getting a reference about Murray from Miller.

With conference relationships changing, there are two teams on the top 10 list [Louisville, Syracuse] that may be looking to establish new rivalries.

As an example, look at Xavier's[although not a top 10 team] non-conference schedule, no Dayton. I am surprised, but not!

Hopefully this will get announced soon. But my guess is we will be in the NIT Season Tip-Off Tourney, which features Arizona, Duke, Alabamba, Rutgers. Games seem to be at MSG, but that might just be for the championship games. I would think Hurley has the best connections with Duke and Arizona out of the top 10 teams..... and perhaps in this tournament Rutgers lol but i'll assume and hope it is not them.

Also, the Mohegan Tourney features Louisville and UNC but it seems the field of teams for that tournament have already been set...

Played Ohio State last year -- too close for Matta to re-up with a semi-depleted squad this year; Pitino wouldn't give URI the time of day; Oklahoma State has been done; the "cold/colder clues" freeze-out Syracuse, Michigan State, and Michigan.
Let's go for a Duke/Florida two-game road-trip.

Was hoping for Michigan only b/c my fiancee is a Michigan grad, but anyone on that list would be great!!!

However, if it's one on the list and it would be a good place to travel in November/December, then my guess would be limited to Duke, Arizona, or Florida.

Btw, URI played at Florida a few years ago, why would Billy Donovan have played them then, but not now (unless he doesn't want to play against a Hurley coached team)?
