Cox fired and a PC blow-out loss in the same day...gotta remember the good times folks.

Fake good. I called it a month ago in some thread on here (toots own horn).
Hope they get the 5 seed in order to play the dreaded 5-12 upset-prone game.

Rhody and PC won the same number of conference tournament games.
Here’s hoping they win the same amount of NCAA tournament games as well.

SG, this post didn't age well.SGreenwell wrote: ↑2 years agoCreighton should definitely not be a lock, but it's still people picking these brackets. I agree that in a lot of years, the 4th place team in the NBE has traditionally been a lock, but I don't know the numbers. Back when it was RPI, if you had a 30ish RPI it was a good bet you'd be in the show. I don't know if there's a "if your NET is at X or better, then you are in good shape" type number.
I guess it is now safe to say Creighton is definitely in the NCAAT.

... except that PC is overrated too, ha. Providence is now 47 in KenPom, and Creighton is 54. I'd be surprised if either made it to the Sweet Sixteen, but hey, anything can happen in March and single elimination tournaments.Jersey77 wrote: ↑2 years agoSG, this post didn't age well.SGreenwell wrote: ↑2 years agoCreighton should definitely not be a lock, but it's still people picking these brackets. By the way, of all people - Dana Tate is on the verge of an NCAA berth. He went 6-for-13 from the field, 2-for-3 from 3-point range, 11 boards, 14 points, as Norfolk State beat Morgan State 72-63. They play Coppin State or North Carolina Central for the AQ tomorrow.

I actually didn't think they would Dance this year because they lost 5 starters and are extremely young.
McDermott has done a fabulous job building this roster and bringing this team along.

McDermott is a really really good coach. Outside of Jay Wright he’s probably the 2nd best coach in league with a lot of really good ones.Jersey77 wrote: ↑2 years agoYes I agree.SGreenwell wrote: ↑2 years ago... except that PC is overrated too, ha. I've always been a fan of Tyrese Martin's game, but to see what he's done at UConn this year has been really impressive. Having another great game against Villanova. This game is quite the battle.

Not the worst for PC to soil their shorts in a Big East semi
Remember in 98 Xavier beat us pretty easy in the a10 semi then we were 1 minute from the final 4

It’s pretty common in any sport to drop an egg then go on a run. Getting the bad all out at once. Not that hard of a concept to grasp.
The Rhody anecdote is applicable since it’s something that happened to us before a tourney.
How many feet are in a mile? 5280. You pick up this ball and you run every last one of em.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Dayton has a chance if they get to the finals against Davidson and lose.
Otherwise, if Davidson and Richmond make the finals and Davidson wins, the A10 gets one bid.

UConn loses another close one, this time 63-60 against Villanova,
However I'm beginning to think that UConn will go farther in the tournament than PC will.
Martin is really starting to play more consistently well for them.

That way Mooney keeps his job for sure, and we don't have to compete with them for coaching candidates.
They were one of the preseason favorites just had several bumps along the road.
Loyola/Chicago is in the "Dance" and they will be an A10 member next season.

I’m thinking they could even be upset by a 13 seed if they remain a 4 seed. They’re not an athletic team. If they draw a team with good, athletic guards that can shoot and can spread them out, look out.rambone 78 wrote: ↑2 years ago They will likely fall to a 5 seed and play a 12...

VT looks good, Becker’s program is consistent. He doesn’t excite me but I’m convinced he could win at URI with his track record.

UConn is dangerous and could advance as far as the Elite Eight with the right matchups.
A national title this season is not realistic, but if Cole and Martin return next season, you never know.
They need some more outside shooting....way too inconsistent.

Norfolk State wins the MEAC, 2nd straight trip to the NCAAT.
Rob Jones building a nice resume and only 42 (from NY).
They have never finished below 2nd in the conference since he has been HC.
Another solid performance from Dana Tate 13 pts/ 8 rebs.
