Let's hope that a date can be found, because that would be another Q1 opportunity for us. Assuming that both sides earn a double-bye, perhaps the game could be played on the Monday or Tuesday leading up to the A10s.

Already have those Dayton games circled. Like Rhody, they have also won nine straight. Feels like they're on a collision course.
If both those teams win out to that, you'd have to think both would be ranked, no?

And for you historians out there, I have a few questions (as someone who is starting to lean heavy into Rhody WBB) -

When is the last time we were ranked?
How many times has WBB beaten a ranked team?
Have we ever beaten a ranked team at home?
Have there ever been two ranked teams that played at the Ryan Center?
Would this be the biggest non-tournament game in WBB history?
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Give to the Athletic Director's Fund

Give to Rhody's NIL

steviep123 wrote: 2 years ago What was very interesting is that the projo sent Bill Koch to Amherst to cover this game instead of to Cincinnati for PC @ Xavier. I never would have thought that. I don't know if the projo sent anyone to Xavier or is using a stringer. For as much as we complain about projo coverage and sometimes rightfully so, this is awesome. The women's team deserves coverage of BK's ability.
Enjoyed the trip tonight and the game. URI women are legit. Metrics will have the final say, but they certainly have the look of an NCAA contender.

In terms of decisions, we haven't done any air travel yet to avoid eating a ticket. PC-Creighton would have cost upwards of $700 with airfare and hotel to have the game postponed that afternoon. Can't happen. Will change for March/conference tournaments/NCAA Tournament as needed, but unlikely unless it's a real showdown regular season game.

PC-Xavier, with two ranked teams, would be staffed by AP -- that means game story and photos at minimum. PC also is giving us Ed Cooley on Zoom after every road game, so the couch coverage is still an option -- Mark Daniels had that. I took the drive as the primary college writer. That's my responsibility, and I'm happy to do it.

I'll be at URI-VCU women on Sunday and in New York next week for PC-St. John's and URI-Fordham on back-to-back nights. But we're stretched pretty thin with the PC men, URI women and Bryant men all performing like this. I don't need to tell you which of those entities draws the most eyes with respect to business. But I'm trying to cover everyone and everything possible within a reasonable distance.
Thanks Bill - in the "Captain Obvious" department, what you wrote makes perfect sense, especially these days. I certainly didn't consider the fact that a flight out to wherever could easily be cancelled last second and the Projo is out that cash. Certainly smart to not send someone, especially when the games are on tv and the coach is on zoom. I'm happy you are out there covering all the local teams as best as you are able. Selfishly I do wish you were URI's first and foremost reporter, then covered the rest if there wasn't a conflict, but realistically that isn't where we currently are in in the pecking order with a team simply not nearly as good as just a 4 (or even 2) short years ago and with limited resources aren't always the Projo's priority. Either way, I'm happy you are the guy to follow for college hoops in these parts and thanks for your hard work and coverage.

The teams twitter page just had a tweet on Tuesday that they received their 1st ever Top 25 vote in program history. Not sure if they've ever beaten a ranked team at home. With this being their 1st ever vote you'd have to assume biggest non tournament game. The program has only gone to the tournament once in the late 90's. Besides that year its been pretty abysmal so it seems like there is a lot of first happening right now for this program. Good for them

Sunday's game is off due to the weather. Guessing VCU isn't in RI by now. And if they're not, no way they can get to Kingston in time. Bummed, was looking forward to watching them compete on Sunday.

From gorhody.com

The Rams have won 16 straight games at the Ryan Center, dating back to last season.
Only five teams have longer win streaks on home court. Stephen F. Austin leads the nation winning 35 straight games at home.
BYU (27), Jackson State (24), South Carolina (20), and Connecticut (20) are the only other schools ahead of the Rams with a longer winning streak on home court.
The last time the Rams lost at the Ryan Center was Jan. 8, 2021 against Fordham.
Rhody is 9-0 this year at home for the first time in program history.
In her first year at URI, head coach Tammi Reiss led the Rams to 10-3 at the Ryan Center, the best record all-time since the building opened its doors.
Last year Rhody played just 10 games at home, going 7-3 in Kingston.

What an incredible difference between Reiss and Cox.

Just imagine if we could find a MBB coach that's anything like her.

Thorr has to find a way to keep her here for as long as possible.

She really seems happy here, but it's only a matter of time before the big programs come calling.

If the tournament doesn’t bring in the same money as the mens, I don’t see how they’d get paid the same.

Not really.

If the money isn’t there, how could they possibly pay out the same amount to each team?

Seems like simple math to me.

Ladies were down 1 late in the fourth quarter and really executed well down the stretch and won on the road against LaSalle. They improve to 18-3 and 8-0 in A-10 play. Cairns with big shots late and C. Williams with two huge steals. Congrats ladies and keep it going!

Need to win them all except maybe the last game at Dayton, to have a shot at an at large, if they don't win the autobid.

In the A10 tourney, they would likely need to get to the final at least.

Fordham is still quite good... a clear 4th in the conference behind URI, Dayton, and UMass, but they're top-65 NET. Would love for URI's game at Fordham to get rescheduled because it's an opportunity for a Q1 win.

Fordham's Anna DeWolfe last year's A 10 MVP is a graduate of our local Greely High School. She's a great team player and lead us to two state championships. I kidded her over the summer that my Rhody Rams were going to eat their lunch. Should be a great game and I'll be watching on TV.
