And why does a player who uses social media so extensively with his recruitment process not comment since Thursday of last week when it was released by Verbalcommits.com? Why didn’t he deny the information? It’s crazy how recruiting is handled by some HS Players today. Not all recruits do this Top 16, Top 5 etc guessing game.steviep123 wrote: ↑4 years agoThat’s why it’s confusing. Did he commit then de commit? Toledo Blade Newspaper has his commitment in an article- the commitment was from last Thursday night - not tonight.
VERBAL COMMIT: Toledo received a verbal commitment from 2020 three-star wing Norance Berry on Thursday night. Berry (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) played most recently at Scotland Campus in Scotland, Pa. Berry also has offers from Power Five schools Auburn, West Virginia, and Tennessee.

I'm kind of assuming that he made his decision last week and informed some people, but today might be when he streams some little ceremony from his home or something.

So trying to keep it a secret as best as possible to add to today’s suspense? Guy is ranked #413 in 247sports.
Maybe he surprises last minute and announces for North Texas and follows his Scotland Campus teammate Abou Ousmane who just announced for the Mean Green. Just adding to the suspense.

The Mitchell twins and their situation are scaring off any big men from coming to us, it seems like.
Are we going to end up getting a project who KNOWS he won't play much because of them?
Just because we need bodies for depth in the frontcourt?
Like it or not, this is the new order of things. And it sucks for us, big time.

What about bigs?
I don't think we're set in the frontcourt yet like some do.
I Agree, a grad transfer or a Juco 4-5 would be nice but there isn't much left
out there. Ton's of transfers , mostly underclassmen looking for greener
pastures. Won't help if the transfer rule doesn't go into effect
this year. There are going to be a lot of screwed programs with
20-25 % of rosters turning over.

Harris, twins, and Walker. Plus Toppin is like 7 feet tall now and can't put the ball on the deck without being stripped or falling down. His game is destined for some version of his brother's game. he will have the set shot that can keep a defense honest or pick and pop. Then throw in some dunking.

Well it does look like the no sit out rule will pass May 20th, and be applied immediately, which should help us.
Now let's just hope we will have a season come November.
SPG, we can hope that Toppin will have his brother's game!
And he's way more coordinated than what you're giving him credit for.

Re: ‘20 TN PG - Norance Tres Berry (Toledo)
Of course on the dark side we could have some player(s) chose to transfer with no sit out penalty. As could all schools.
Instead of re-recruiting every year it could become monthly
Give me the days when there was a Freshman team and Freshmen couldn’t play varsity as they adjusted to school life
Then players stayed all 4 years and graduated, then went pro.
Kids switching schools in HS, prep schools, AAU kids changing teams, travel all over to play games.....
Gets worse every year.

Re: ‘20 TN PG - Norance Tres Berry (Toledo)
There has to be a mechanism where if a player transfers during the season they can't play for a new team until the next season. Imagine the chaos if say, in December that players are allowed to transfer and immediately play the next week?

Sorry for the misinformation guys.
83 heard the same as I, guess Murray wasn’t a sure thing. We’ve been stood up at the altar too many times, I guess. Berry was a sure thing.

Wow. The roller coaster of recruiting. URI definitely pulled back the scholarship offers last week.
I got no response from people last night after he posted the picture that still included RI.
Glad they got him.

This is so weird. Earlier I mentioned it would be funny if Berry committed here after Ousman decommitted, but I didn't actually expect it to happen.
DC and '83, don't worry about "misinformation" - I think nowadays even those that are close to recruits and think they know they deal, really don't. I'm happy to have him. Obviously Murray would have been great, but I'm thinking we either must not have had a chance and/or the staff thinks Berry is a better fit.

Wow, this kid really has a flair for the dramatic.
Good on him. C'mon, Rhody is a lot better than most of those options. We are worth the wait, and crazier things happen right here, where you think you aren't going to play and all of a sudden you are forced right into the mix.

DC no worries about being wrong. I think the big question here is if the coaching staff pulled the offer last week when and why did they give it back to him? Some real weird shit going on with this staff.

Yeah, started to get that feeling too, over the last couple of days.
Murray said we called the most, but you could tell by his comments, what he really wants is for Georgia to offer, which they haven't. Georgetown would seem to be the fall back option, and there is Ole Miss. We aren't completely out, if this Berry recruitment is any indication, but it's not looking great.

Or possibly if offer was rescinded then offered again for whatever reason, Tres decided to jump on this time because he really liked URI and saw the Murray was a target and wasn't going to take a chance of getting cut out or more crazier stuff happening.
Either way great get like the film I have seen happy to have him. Welcome aboard Tres!!

This has been the craziest two weeks (one week? three weeks? month? what even is time anymore) of recruiting I can remember
Super glad to have Tres on board, like many others here I was very happy to have Malik commit but kinda bummed it meant missing out on Tres. Now we have both! It's a good day!

The no longer had a scholarship offer from RI came directly from Berry last week.steviep123 wrote: ↑4 years ago This is so weird. Earlier I mentioned it would be funny if Berry committed here after Ousman decommitted, but I didn't actually expect it to happen.

Recruiting rollercoaster.
I believe Cox uses leverage to close deals. His 20 years of experience tell him that URI’s odds of getting a commitment by waiting around for a recruit to commit on his “announcement day” aren’t great especially when that recruit has real interest from a P5. Murray is going to wait until April 25th and if he gets a commitment request from Georgia he is going to take it. Cox didn’t want to be in that position on April 25th.
Pushes Murray to make a decision yesterday and gets a no. Closes on Berry.
My guess is this is the last Fr for this class. Abou backing out opened the 4th spot for this class. Cox needs to find a big man that is immediately eligible (JUCO or Grad Transfer). The other option is to wait until the Transfer Rule vote in May to know if Mitchells are immediately eligible. Then fill the last scholarship spot.
Edit: it’s the 3rd spot for Fr class. I don’t know why I said 4th.

Cox is a genius.
Get's the Ousmane commit, sets everything in motion.
Leads to Twins commit
Leads to Malik Martin commit.
Berry offer yanked
Ousmane decommits
Berry offered and commits
