My guess and this is a total guess - a transfer from a P5 school or Keon Ellis.

I'm going with a real darkhorse here, Landers Nolley - he's cutting his list tomorrow, and he really wants to play the wing from initial reports. I know it's a stretch, but a guy can dream.
Thanks for sharing 83

We recruited Nolley out of high school. Excellent guess, would love to see him in Kingston.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Nolley would seem to be a case where if he were immediately eligible he would have 3 years left, but if not, he'd only have 2, since he redshirted his frosh year.

Nolley was initially pursued by Rhody. Not sure if we were on his final list, he did show some interest I believe. Hes not coming here at this point, a pipe dream

not sure - he had 40+ colleges initially call him. And he's only cutting it down to 11.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years agoAre we on his initial list?

It can’t be Nolley. He isn’t close to a decision this week.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
The NCAA has extended the dead period for recruiting until May 31st.
That means the signing period has been pushed back I would think.
What would happen if the unthinkable occurred, and there was no college BB next season?
Would the NCAA waive the sit out period for next season for our 3 transfers in that case, so they could play the following year?
No matter if they vote on the new rule or not?
What a giant mess.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
I have to think that the Mitchell twins are solidly good to go here along with Malik for sure also.
There are others that are decommitting soon after they committed also.
This is becoming a circus.
DC said a couple days ago that Abou was OK with the twins coming here.
Obviously that changed.
Also 83 said that he got info from someone that said we might get a commit in the next couple of days...that was 2 days ago....
Bogus info?

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
I think their plan (and keep in mind, I know less than nothing) is to value transfers higher than freshman. A lot of that is riding on the transfers being eligible.
The idea being, it affects both sides of the equation. You develop a freshman for one or two years and then they pull a Tyrese Martin on you.
I think right now he scored three quality transfers, you have to go with the grad transfer or JUCO stud for one of the remaining two scholarships

So Cox planned for him to commit than leave a few days later so he could get Odusipe? Sorry, but Gage doesn’t count. If he comes Fatts is gone. Murray is a different story, but than there would be a cluster at that position

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
I don't have the answers, but it makes sense that this new NCAA transfer rule is something that can be exploited, like a window left ajar, that could be closed after a season or two IF it ever goes into effect.
If Cox thinks he can exploit it, let him. Clearly, the twins signing helped with the Malik Martin signing. Sometimes you have to domino this to get the recruits to fall.
Not to be sour grapes, but even if Ousmane got 15-20 a game from a certain point on during the season, he probably would have left. I still would have liked to see him suit up here though.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Isn’t that the same thing that is going to happen with Wood? He won’t play at all this year with Fatts and Sheppard on the team. They are obviously going to try and get another 1-2 point guards after next year with one likely to be a veteran who has a couple years under his belt.rhodyfan3000 wrote: ↑4 years ago I don't have the answers, but it makes sense that this new NCAA transfer rule is something that can be exploited, like a window left ajar, that could be closed after a season or two IF it ever goes into effect.

Possibly, very possibly. That's what I mean, why wish Wood ill will from the get go? He could just do what Ousmane just did, but he's not doing that, so give him a break.
He could leave after one year, or maybe he might be "different". We'll see.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
As far as I know, Leggett, Wood, Martin, and the twins are good to go, and aren't going anywhere.
Hopefully the same for Toppin and JH. Fatts will be back imo.
So let's get a couple of good ones with the 2 ships left.
Looks like we have plenty of time to do so....hell with the way recent recruits are changing their mind and the extended LOI date, we might have a shot at a couple we don't expect right now.

Since we are critiquing. The twins did not sign yet and Malik Martin did not sign yet. They verbally committed.rhodyfan3000 wrote: ↑4 years ago I don't have the answers, but it makes sense that this new NCAA transfer rule is something that can be exploited, like a window left ajar, that could be closed after a season or two IF it ever goes into effect.

83, you're not bogus.
Since that was first time info from someone, there's no way of knowing if it was reliable.
I was just hopeful that something good would come out of it.

Totally different recruiting world out there now, and for a while to come.
Not being able to take 2 day visits and be pampered must be tough for this year's recruits.
Phone calls, texts, and videos are the new norm.
And it makes it easier for 17-19 year olds to be swayed by others around them.
I can see where not being able to actually meet the people you would be playing with and playing for, and get to know them a little, makes it much tougher to stay the course and not change their mind.

For roster building if transfers are immediately eligible aren’t we better off with Murray and/or Ellis?
Could this be part of Cox’s plan after bringing in the twins?

Look in Abou’s personal thread 83 mentioned one of the reasons he left was his peers around him were telling him he wouldn’t get playing time here with the twins even though Abou was originally fine w the twinssteviep123 wrote: ↑4 years agoR83, where are you getting this?
