Re: '20 NY PF Abou Ousmane (Offer)
He looked really good on Tuesday with Austin and TJ watching. Teammate of Tres Berry.
Very smooth offensively. With strength & conditioning he could have a significant impact.

After the first game on Tues it was reported that GTown showed interest but I confirmed that haven’t offered.

If he dribbles like that in the post in college, he will plucked every time. I’m not thoroughly impressed.

You can't teach size. He's a big guy for sure. If truly 6'9

Good thing you aren’t recruiting for URI then.
I watched him play. He is better than Cyril was in Prep School.
I am going to rely more on Todd Quarles (Expressions Elete), TJ and Austin.
I think they are better evaluators than you.

He is 6’9” and has size. As Todd Quarles said to me, URI S&C coach will get him in great shape and add strength. He will be a beast.

Then when it comes to bigs, we can reach for the stars all we want, but at the end of the day it's kids like this that will help us.

He reminds me of former PC power forward, Michael Smith. He has that Big East forward look to him.
Granted, he probably does need a S&C coach to round out the look somewhat.

I shouldn't say that too loud, next thing you know, Cooley will be scheduling a visit for him.
I do think the recruitment of 'Boo, as he is called, probably all but puts to rest the recruitment of Richards, however.

I like what I saw on tape - not as athletic Cyril but has good hands and touch around the rim. Not as good as Andre Berry, but also not as in bad of shape coming in.

Soft touch, good foot work and a mid ranger jumper. May take a few years to really develop but would definitely be a great get behind Mitchell twins or Odusipe.

Re: '20 NY PF Abou Ousmane (Offer)
He had two good games against good competition in CT this week.
I think he would be in the rotation right away (10-13 minutes).
He has good offensive skills and is strong down low.
Needs to shed a few pounds and gain some more muscle which is true of most Fr bigs.

This kid would play here, no doubt. If he goes to a higher conference, they will likely make him sit a year.
There is a lot to work with here.

He looks smooth...really smooth. Guys who were guarding him were his size and he turned around with a quick release and made those shots with ease with defenders with their hands up. He looks promising. I like him. He looks agile for a big guy.

??? It’s Iona
Pitino will be throwing about 30 offers out there to try to get something to stick. Abou is from NYC.

I was kind of kidding, but I have no doubt that Pitino will get players there, ranked higher than Abou.

No doubt Pitino will get strong players at Iona. He will have the pick of the litter among Transfers, Grad Transfers, High School Seniors. Kids will want to be part of this story.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years agoI was kind of kidding, but I have no doubt that Pitino will get players there, ranked higher than Abou.

Let’s see how it plays out. It might take awhile. They play in a weak league in a small gym with no TV coverage.ramster wrote: ↑4 years agoNo doubt Pitino will get strong players at Iona. A little different than recruiting at Kentucky and Louisville. He just hired an Ast Coach who is in his 70s.

Pitino led the way with the 3 point shooting while at PC, he was a pioneer. He will take full advantage of his connections, of the new transfer rules, of recruiting. It will be very fast.

And so what if it is? Players proven what they can do. Can contribute immediately. I think Pitino has that team at a string level early. And he van addvv by transfers at mid year too and be eligible right away.

Re: '20 NY PF Abou Ousmane (Offer)
Most transfers haven’t proven what they can do. That is why they are transferring.
We get overwhelmed by the number of transfers. Most transfer to a lower rated school.
The exception can be a coaching change at a P5 school.

Re: '20 NY PF Abou Ousmane (Offer)
Agree in the past but things are changing fast now with immediate eligibility.
There will be HCs who will jump on this new rule faster than others. Just like Pitino was early on a pioneer with leveraging the 3-point shot, I expect him to be at the forefront at leveraging immediate transfer eligibility. Just watch the next 5 months then let’s see where a Pitino is - end of August.

Wasting no time
Ousmane, who holds additional offers from UMass, Rhode Island, St. Louis, Texas A & M, Ohio, Toledo, and others, said the acknowledgement from a coach of Pitino’s caliber was special.
“He’s seen it all having coached at the highest levels so for him to take interest in my game and wanting to offer me a scholarship, it was definitely an honor,” said Ousmane, who is from Brooklyn originally.

That's too bad if we lose this kid to Pitino or UMass. I saw this kid as a potential Antonio Reynolds-Dean type sleeper that flew under the radar. He's not under the radar anymore, unfortunately.

That was initially tweeted and posted 5 days ago.
Let’s not forget that schools offer 40-45 players per class and take 3-4 players.

Re: '20 NY PF Abou Ousmane (Offer)
Some offer more than 40-45 players
and I think 3-4 new roster players is on the low side in this environment
Players Graduate as Seniors
Grad Transfers
5th Year Transfers
Traditional Transfers who will be eligible immediately vs sitting out a year penalty
Injury

He didn’t play at Woodstock for Shinebox Boy so don’t see how he ends up UMass.

Any news concerning Akeem?
Likely/not likely?
Didn't think the twins were at the top of the list now.
There are some recent transfers that have committed without visiting, obviously because they couldn't.

Why don’t you see Odusipe happening? I am not saying it will but the indications from the staff and Akeem’s contacts are that URI is a real possibility.RamStock wrote: ↑4 years agoSo Berry and the Twins? I think they have to get Berry.
