Obadiah wrote: 4 years ago Amazingly familiar pattern to Davidson's offense keyed on 3-point shooting in recent games:

vs. Fordham - 30 point win, Davidson grabbed a 20 point lead in first 9 minutes
vs. UMass - 35 point win, Davidson grabbed a 20 point lead in first 15 minutes.
vs. St. Bona - 29 point win, Davidson grabbed a 20 point lead in first 18 minutes.
vs. St. Joe"s - TBD, Davidson grabbed a 20 point lead in first 14 minutes.

Davidson hits their threes and the opposing team gets rattled and starts to try to catch by jacking up threes in response and they miss. St. Joe's 3-point shooting in first half, 0-7.

Only silver lining is midst of those games was the Wildcats game at VCU where they were 5-19 on treys (26%), FG 39%, and 21 turnovers = a 11 point loss.

The Rams game is at Belk and the Wildcats will be sky high, but if URI plays its game it can win even if Davidson has success in shooting. Vanderbilt did just that in beating them.
Gotta stop them from getting off to a big start so we shouldn’t be afraid to use TOs early to slow or stop their momentum.

Lead cut to one but Lee is fouled taking a 3 and will be shooting when play resumes after the under 4 timeout. I can’t believe I’m rooting for St. Joe’s!

Joes going to the line with a chance to tie/take the lead with just over two minutes left. Joes has played an excellent second half. Davidson has been as bad as Joes has been good.

Joes was down 19 at half - now leads. 2:20 left.

I love seeing #5 Ranked Dayton (or any A10 Team) high high up in the AP Rankings. It’s great publicity for the A10
Just like #4 San Diego State is good for the Mountain West and #2 Gonzaga is great publicity for the West Coast Conference. Got to root for the Mid Majors.

I can’t recall ever seeing 3 of the Top 5 AP Teams being from Mid Major Conferences!!!! Great stuff.

Baylor is #1, Kansas #3

These Mid Majors have to be driving the P5 and BE Conference Teams nuts

I’d want Dayton to keep winning at this point til we play them on Senior Night. They could be even higher than #5 by then if Baylor, Kansas, Gonzaga or SDSU falter.

Imagine if 3 Mid Majors were to have the #1 Seeds in the NCAA Tournament?

Jay Bilas and Dick Vitale would need to be put in a padded room.

right...and wouldn't it be better if beating davidson at davidson was a q1 win? and beating st louis at home was a q2 win? now both of those will drop. even if it's not the difference in making the tourney, it could make a difference in seeding.

The only win that will affect our seeding is beating Dayton. Q2/Q3 doesn't move the needle at all. Davidson would not be Q1 beating Joes at the buzzer.

I think Davidson losing the way they did tonight greatly increases our chances of winning on Saturday which we need and it doesn’t matter if it’s Q1 or Q2 win. The most important thing is getting the win.

they were 78 in NET coming in. 75 would make them q1.
they wouldn't be a q1 beating st. joes at the buzzer...correct. but losing to st joes at the buzzer...now they will never be q1.

Well tonight pretty much settled that 4-1 the rest of the way is a requirement.

Davidson will be a Q2. St Louis might end up a Q3.

Plus...sports ...double digit home 'dogs...college basketball...comeback wins...> go Joe's.
Look on the bright side...won't this help the Ditch Fordham contingent?
If Joe can win another, the DF crowd can probably point to another last place finish.

Plus plus...Davidson has been pulling a Davidson all year long, they probably didn't plan on a L there. Good!
Bleep them for pulling a three-quarter Davidson...Now, we should, and I think we will, just mash them this weekend for fun.

I mean saying it doesn’t matter if it’s a Q1 or Q2 is just flat out 100% wrong.

The NCAA made the Quad system to determine at large bids and seeding, so how the hell can you say it doesn’t matter?

no it wasn't always. st. louis was a 73 net coming in. if they maintained that, they would be q2 for RI at home. with that loss they will be q3.

davidson was right on the edge of becoming a q2 at home and a q1 on the road. with that loss, they are now q2 at home and q3 on the road.

We play UMass twice and St Louis once so although it could hurt the final St Louis quadrant it is ultimately better for our NET that a team we play twice beats a team we play once.

I guess the positive to take out of Davidson blowing that lead at Joes is that their mindset should be in the toilet after blowing a game like that to the bottom feeder minus their best player

URI needs to go in there and take care of business and get one step closer to the big dance
