Re: 2020 Football Recruiting Class
We are the only school without a link and besides what appears like Albany, nothing reported. What a joke! Even the athletic department doesn’t even care about this program! What a waste of time and money.

Next year looks like another joke.
Even if Perrantes turns out to be good, the rest of the team will be either too young or not talented enough or both.

Communications with the Fans, 5th Qtr Club, and interested parties with the Football Team have gone downhill ever since Stowers left.

Fleming is putting together the best recruiting class in school history. A 4 D-tackle, Westley Neal that had 29 offers committed this weekend.

Maybe Rhody is like the "D" team that I played intramural hoops for...Our frat had 4 teams. two teams that competed regularly for the campus championship, a third, pretty good team, and a fourth team of, well...other guys, that rarely won a game, but dang, it was easy, and a lot of fun, to be a standout on that 4th one

Re: 2020 Football Recruiting Class
All we've heard is how great Fleming has been doing upgrading the overall talent level here the last 2-3 years.
Other than one 6-5 season [due largely to one QB] where has that gotten us?
2 win seasons are an indictment of either that "talent" or the coaching or both.
Didn't see a whole lot of talent on defense recently, that's for sure. Too small, too slow, you name it.

So...come here, put up numbers and be a star on a crappy team? Not a horrible play, actually, is it?rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago All we've heard is how great Fleming has been doing upgrading the overall talent level here the last 2-3 years.

Being on a crappy team hasn’t prevented good players from being noticed by the NFL. Sometimes they’d get buried on the bench of a good FBS team.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑4 years agoSo...come here, put up numbers and be a star on a crappy team? Check out the offer list on that kid Zion Jackson. No freakin idea how we signed him but he seems like a dude.
Also 2 other 3 star players and 247 says we have the #2 class in the CAA.

There are plenty of good and great HS players in all sports who would love chance to play at Rhody.

Re: 2020 Football Recruiting Class
While STC's comment may rub some people the wrong way it's maybe more of a reflection of the frustration many of us feel about the program. Whether he's serious or not doesn't really matter. Year after year we hear the hype of how the program is turning the corner. Fleming's always been able to attract talent. The kids recruited for the most part seem like good quality people. We just need to start winning and no one will worry about what the intent of a post is or not?

Re: 2020 Football Recruiting Class
It was a really bad thing to say about a bunch of kids you know nothing about.
I feel sorry for the players in all sports if that's how you think about them.

Re: 2020 Football Recruiting Class
The negative feelings about football are long tenured here at URI. It’s going to take more than a good recruiting class to get people on-board. However, we all saw the positive outpouring after the 6-5 2018 campaign. If Fleming can or if not him but one of his successors ever gets it right there will be plenty of fans involved in the URI football program. It’s really hard to have any faith and I feel people must fall back on misinformation and slender when the program gets anything right because honestly how often has the program got anything right???

Re: 2020 Football Recruiting Class
Lol at the pearl clutching on this board over a throwaway post.
Anyways, my post wasn’t an indictment on the class as a whole but more so that dude that chose URI over offers from “Central Florida, South Florida, Syracuse, Nebraska and several other FBS and Power Five conference offers.”
I hope he’s the real deal but anytime someone is choosing URI, a perennial bottom feeder in the FCS over name P5 schools there is typically some “baggage” involved.
For a football message board y’all are soft as hell.
