Since prior to last weekend I figured we'd know who the contenders and pretenders are in the A10 after this weekend's games. In my opinion it appears we now have a good idea as to who will be fighting for the top spots in the A10 down the stretch.
It looks like Dayton, Richmond, URI, & maybe VCU will be fighting for the likely top 2- 3 NCAA Tournament spots in the end.

We are battling Richmond, VCU and SLU for 1 maybe 2 NCAA spots pending how things break. I will root against those teams every night.

Agree this isn’t the Davidson of the past - but we will need to exercise demons on Bob McKillop court. That place is a disaster factory for us.

For those of you into scoreboard watching, Joe Lunardi's Friday Bracketology lists 16 bubble teams (Last 4 Byes,Last 4 In, First 4 out,Next 4 out) and URI wasn't listed. Since then, 11 teams played for a 5-6 record. I believe the remaining 5 play today. We want losses for Northern Iowa, Minnesota, Xavier, Virginia, and Georgetown.

Any bracketologist who has VCU ahead of us isn’t paying attention. The only thing VCU has over us is they beat bad teams more efficiently than we do. (Not saying we’re a better team, just saying our resume is better)

They also beat LSU and dont have a bad loss like ours with Brown.

Alabama and LSU pretty close.

Pc and Alabama better than LSU and VCU’s next best non-conference win (which is probably North Texas who we beat)

Brown loss was a negative. But again, that’s the only advantage VCU has. They play much better against bad team than we do.

And our win at VCU is the biggest separator.

On the strength of the win at St. Bonaventure and yesterday's 7-2 performance by our OOC partners, the URI NET moves to 49, only Dayton and VCU have a better ranking.

how long is the leash in storrs. None of the players there have an elite college basketball trait. That’s the thing URI has in spades. All of the guys playing for uri now have a high end basketball trait to lean on and some of them have a few others they showed up with or have developed.

It’s crazy because pretty much everyone on the team was ranked higher coming out of HS compared against our roster. They even have a former McDonald’s All American (injury problems). Hurley recruited a large chunk of these guys while at URI - i wonder if they were just recruiting misses or developed bad habits under Ollie. Their offense is atrocious.

I agree. Our best guys are obviously the guys that came here under Hurley. Although our younger players might rival the older guys in terms of potential.

The UConn job is just a completely different animal than it was 10 years ago and than a job at uri.

Not sure what you mean by none of their guys have good traits- Akok and Bouknight both have NBA potential. The Ollie holdovers are what is killing Dan. They came back with the FRs and SOs on the floor but he’s gotta balance chemistry and build culture which you can’t do by just benching the older guys.

Yeah I mean, UConn is gonna be just fine. Pretty sure the leash is quite long. Different question 2-3 years from now if there are similar struggles.

Yeah I think you have to give DH time , by end of year 3 they should be approaching NIT territory and 4th year should dance
If no dance by end of 4th year maybe they get a little restless
