For those that think Martelli is such a good guy, look up former Hawk player Todd O'Brien. Martelli would not sign the waiver to allow him to play elsewhere for his final season of eligibility after graduating from St Joe's.
I have no love for Martelli and am not advocating that he should have kept his job. My point isn’t even really that he deserved better than the treatment he got. My only point is that based on the way the AD handled, I don’t have a lot of confidence that she’s going to be any good at this job. Poor management, and especially poor management born out of stupidity, is a major pet peeve of mine.
I agree, and I think that is the majority believe here, the AD did a poor job in handling this.

Here is what former A10 Commissioner Linda Bruno had to say:
"So much more than a coach......an educator and a piece of basketball history. Take a deep breath, Phil and get back on the sidelines. You have earned the love and respect of everyone who has ever met you."

He has spoken to Philly media and confirmed he was given the choice to resign, but felt it wasn't the right thing to do bc he promised kids he would commit to them and didn't feel like resigning was the right message to send to kids. Also said he wants to coach again.

Jamion Christian seems to be a good coach. If he can be successful there, it might lead to some recruiting battles with their local talent for URI. I don’t think anyone worried too much about that the last few years. Tough break for Siena, though.

Feels like a good hire. Head coaching experience, A10 experience, experience coaching (and recruiting) that area, still relatively young, has had moderate success.

I wonder if they got a not interested from James Jones and JT3. Christian hadn't done much at Siena to warrant a step up, though he had success at the Mount.

Honestly, not enough time at Siena to really say. Sample size (1 year is too small) so I guess it depends on if it was a big jump in wins from last year to this year for Siena.

How could they get a “not interested” from JT3? What’s he doing, eating chips and watching Netflix waiting for the phone to ring? Find that hard to believe.

JT3 runs the Princeton offense, which kids today want no part of.

Jamion Christian was at Siena for exactly ONE season where he went all of 17-16. Pretty mercenary moving on to a new job after such a short stint at a school.

Might be the biggest turnaround this year in D1.
They were 8-24 last year. Nine win improvement in his first year.

Not sure if this is official, but we have posted an assistant position. I would assume this is Coach Carroll's position. There is a possibility this is TJ's job and having the posting is just a formality, but that certainly isn't confirmed.

I just hope the coaching changes at both LSU and Alabama don't end up decimating their rosters or cause the schools to rethink schedules. Alabama is supposed to visit the Ryan Center next season and LSU is a probable opponent in the Jamaica Classic. I want these schools to have good teams next year with Rhody playing and benefiting from games with them.

Beat him and his Dad while they were at Valpo in our 1998 Elite-8 run. Bryce had in an earlier game made the big shot winner from mid court as the clock expired.

Vanderbilt was long used to playing 2nd fiddle in the state to Tennessee but was probably not ok becoming third fiddle just in Nashville behind Belmont and Lipscomb.

I saw him play in Springfield. On a team with Kenyon Martin Jr. Neither showed that much. Pipen Jr is 6’1”.

Unusually honest response from Hunter. I admire the forthrightness.

I haven’t been following anything to do with Vandy and Cooley, but hard to imagine that is more than wild speculation. I don’t really see how that would be a fit for the program or the coach, and not sure I could come up with one good reason why he’d want that job other than if they were going to triple his salary or something. He can coach PC until he retires. If he goes to Vandy his career likely only has another 3 or 4 years left in it. Not sure how long he wants to coach, but unless it’s 5 years or less he should just stay where he is.

The SEC would be the perfect conference for a Pitino return. He would fit right in with the other men's basketball coaches such as Bruce Pearl and Will Wade. Who would have thought there could be a league full of coaches that could make John Calpiari look like a saint? The SEC, where the saying goes "if you are not cheating, you are not trying" however is that such a league. Integrity in college sports is an after thought at its institutions. It is all about winning with little regard to how you get there.
