At approx. 12:30pm today radio station B101 played a recorded message

"we interrupt our normal music programming for the following special offering of URI basketball …"

There then followed about 90 seconds of complete silence.

Then the 1980s music recommenced.

At approx 12:38, the sound of Don Kaul's voice come on, mid-sentence, unceremoniously interrupting the music.

At approx 12:40, silence returned.

At approx 12:41, instrumental musak.

At approx 12:43, canned commercials came on.

At approx 12:47, Steve and Don were back on the air.

Sounds like there are still gremlins in the Barclay Center, causing technical problems for the Rhody radio folks. Hopefully, all radio issues are now resolved.

I'm surprised with Cyril not playing his typical game that he didn't get more rest. I'm not a Preston guy. Still surprised he's gotten so few minutes in the last 2 games given he was able to contribute at the end of the regular season. He's not going to contribute offensively, but he's a big body and if other guys continue to shoot the way they have, you can live with Preston not scoring.
With VCUs pressing, trapping, double teaming defense Preston would be vulnerable because of dribbling, ball handling skills
Silverio, Tate, Martin better passing and ball handling skills.
Against teams other than VCU Preston might see more minutes. Maybe today bs Bonnies

Three starters were on the court for all 40 minutes while another logged 37 minutes. Only CL and JD played near that. URI actually had one more player score yesterday than the Bonnies had in the game.

Another thing that might help today is that URI may be more battle tested with better wins. SBU very much took care of business against lesser teams. URI did not always do this (see UMass and Fordham). While SBU had the better A-10 record and seed, much of that can be attributed to its schedule. The four best overall season teams in the league per the NET, RPI, and KenPom were VCU, Dayton, Davidson, and SLU. SBU has played these teams just five games with only one away from Olean. The Bonnies went 1-4 versus them. URI has played these four teams in nine games going 4-5. Five of these games were away from the Ryan Center without the benefit of a friendly venue.
Not sure why Stockard only played 26 minutes when he is 1st team A10. He had 3 fouls so maybe got them early
Expect all 5 starters to play 40 minutes unless foul trouble

I ended up going to 210 Oyster Bar and Grill to watch the game. I’d say there’s about 10 Rhody fans here and a table full of bikers and this woman who has one of the most aggressive mullets I’ve ever seen in my life. I am so intrigued by this I hope she brings good luck. I also wish I could have gotten down to Brooklyn but maybe tomorrow.

Tate impressive
Dowtin playing like the 1st team A10 player level guy that he is. Taking much more in charge of the ball handling this tournament

Horrible end to the half last four minutes. Cox should have used a timeout to regroup. Gave away a big lead and all momentum.

Does Cox think that all 4 timeouts carry over into the 2nd half? I have no idea why he didn't use a TO at the end to set something up.

I was a little afraid we would get lackluster with the lead.

Now that big lead we had doesnt matter at all.

Now we have to fight our ass off the rest of the way because we let them get comfortable.

DAMNIT I was just getting comfortable
