I don’t think they need to move anyone because they’re both going to handle the ball a lot and play off the hall sometimes, but I would be shocked if Jeff is able to have the same level of ball security this season as he had last year. If this team is going to be any good at all, he’s going to have to be much more aggressive and not as much of a game manager. Making good decisions and being a sound ball handler will always be part of his game, but it’s just unavoidable that if your primary objective is to attack, as opposed to avoid mistakes, that you’re going to turn the ball over a little more frequently. I hope people don’t see his assist/turnover ratio flatten out a little this year and try to say that he has performed worse.

I remember Jeff last year came out more aggressive than he was his freshman season and things were a little rough, like in the Nevada game. It seemed to me that it took him a bit to get comfortable asserting himself offensively.

I feel like it will take him some getting used to doing that game in ane game out in the beginning but I'm sure he will find his groove especially as the freshman develop.

The difference this time around is that Jeff has known this was going to be his situation this season for four years. When they recruited him, this was one of the things they sold him on. I assume we are making the same case to Bishop as we speak.

There will be more mistakes made when the pace is more uptempo which they plan to run this year.

I for one am looking to see more of the Running Rams than the half court slowdown type we saw of lot of last year.

Especially late in games. Stall ball with a lead is a recipe for disaster...we just weren't very good at it.

This is as wrong as our current mascot. This is a mountain ram, more suitable for Colorado or Wyoming than Rhode Island. If this is thinking big then it's a big mistake

I'm guessing that Jeff and Cyril will be the captains this year? Preston is the only senior and I don't see him being one. Fatts as a sophomore would be unlikely too, right?

You’re absolutely right. University decision though. Although the more accurate ram statue near memorial union is an absolute porker.

They looked cold in the ocean situps. Fatts not touching the sand (socks on and did crawl on his forearms with long sleeve shirt) was funny.

Today is the first day of practice. There is an event for season ticket holders tomorrow night. It’s a meet and greet event with the men’s and women’s teams. I am not sure there will be an open practice. There is the exhibition game next month (Oct 25th).

A while back I did hear there would be one but haven't heard any other updates. My guess is late October like some previous years.

Unlike the past few years, we will get a first look at this team in the late October exhibition game against Pace. That is a better preview than any open practice session.

A lot of guys posting team photos from their media day, one thing that immediately jumps out is Jermaine Harris. He's solidly built, basically similar build as Cyril. Thought he was much leaner.

Great piece by Chris. And if Rhody fans like his work, which I think all do, show the love by retweeting, sharing and commenting on it. Those things matter and show Chris’s employer for this stuff that their is an audience for his Rhody insights.

4. Rhode Island (76) – The program went from 2000 to 2016 without going to the NCAA tourney, but have gone two consecutive seasons under now-UConn Head Coach Dan Hurley. The Ryan Center and facilities are towards the top of the league.

Where they win: “One of the better arenas in the league, good recruiting corridor with New England prep schools and NYC, and easy admissions.” – A-10 head coach

The knock: “Bad campus, not much tradition and name recognition. Apathetic fan base unless they are winning.” – A-10 assistant coach

1. I think we have a beautiful campus. 2. Tradition? No, it's not Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, but a good history going back 80 or so years. That's a pretty good tradition. 3. Name recognition? Once again, not Duke, etc., but if you watch college basketball, obviously you know who we are. The only thing I agree with somewhat is the apathy of the fans unless we're winning, and that's the case at many schools.
