Any updates on how the visit has gone today? It would be great to get him committed to URI by the end of the trip similar to Long and turn their focus on the Bishop/Walker visit in two weeks

Guess we’ll know maybe tomorrow afternoon since the official can only be 48hrs if he is committing “after” the visit. Big time target for the staff, this would be huge!

His visit started this morning. They have the player come in the night before and get him situated in the hotel.
He will be on his official visit thru tomorrow night and fly back to Philly on Sunday.

Naheem’s live IG he is in a dorm room I think. He is showing the A10 Championship ring and loving it. I saw Eric in the video so it might be his ring. Naheem was happy/excited.

Cyril posted similar pic with Naheem on IG at the dinner.
I am guessing Fatts is his host since they know each other from Philly. Fatts does chat with him on IG.

Cyril posted an IG of him standing next to Naheem outside the restaurant and Naheem is a giant. Cyril said he’s 7’4” - I don’t know if that is scientifically accurate or not, but suffice it to say he is real tall.

Let’s get this done today! I think if he played on a bigger AAU circuit, his rankings would even be higher. This would be a huge commitment this weekend and really set the stage for the rest of the class in two weeks.

This ain’t a Blake Vedder situation, Rhode Island has lots of options in this class and this is surely a top 125 type prospect in 19’. He is athletic and will only continue to improve.

First of all Blake Vedder couldn't do either.
The key is can he move well enough to stay with the oppositions 5 in man defense.
Or are you forced to play a zone when he is in there?
Which actually might not necessarily be a terrible thing.
Syracuse has won with a zone for years and Duke almost won last year
playing a zone. A zone with Naheem and Jermaine in the back, some combination of
Martin or Long or Tate and Dowtin on the front end and Fatts tormenting the other
teams point guard could be a scary thing.

It’s less about whether he can play another team’s 5 than it is can he play defend ball screens and pick n roll which dominates college basketball.

He's now Director of Player Development. He was a student manager the last 4 years.

I was standing down in the end zone and the basketball team was well represented down there. Saw all four coaches and many players. Cyril was playing football with a bunch of kids, including my nephew - Cyril is a legit great kid. I asked Coach Cox if Naheem was really 7’4” (maybe everyone he spoke with today asked him the same thing?), and he nodded and kind of made a giddy face like “oh heck yeah he is.” I didn’t ask directly for a status update on the recruiting because I wouldn’t expect a direct answer, but I got the sense they are all-in on him and like where they stand. Seemed like his visit was going well, but that isn’t a huge surprise or a guarantee of anything.

I don’t think he will commit soon, he’s going to go on other OV. They are scheduled, but they have not been publicized.

Naheem’s IG Story - a nice dinner in Newport with Coach Cox. Then a pic of him stretched out in the back of an SUV on the way to the airport (48 hours are up) and he typed “Until next time”. Can read into that - when he returns to Kingston!

Naheem’s response to tweet about his visit to Rhode Island - “it’s tremendous” followed by the ram and heart.

Hoping for verbal tomorrow or Tuesday. Not sure about other visits scheduled. I haven’t heard anything on other visits other than DCRam’s post.

He’s only visited URI, and La Salle and URI are the only schools that have met with him since the recruiting period has started, so...
