Kind of lame that the first time they mention attending the press conference is 5 minutes before it starts

It stopped spinning, but my phone gave me the same flash message. Downloading the Atlantic 10 app, we'll see if that works. So small time

It’s not small time when streaming is working perfectly on laptops and phones via the A10 app.

For many, this may be the first extended remarks you have heard from Coach Cox.
He is very impressive. Proud to have him leading the Rhode Island Rams.

Re: The David Cox Era
Very disappointed in some of the program enhancements being announced. A paltry 25K to the assistant coach salary pool will have little effect. No firm commitment to more charters is worrisome.
If URI cheaps out, it will pay the consequences down the road. There is no reason for not making program enhancements now. There is over 1M more in annual revenues from NCAA units and increased attendance from just two years ago. The head coach's salary is several 100k less. The program should be in the best financial shape it has ever been in. There are absolutely ZERO excuses for REAL improvements and investments.

The program enhancements part does concern me. I do hope we can continue to try and push the program to new limits with the practice facility and charter flights sooner than later.

Re: The David Cox Era
Let's not jump to conclusions based on a tweet. I'm confident Bill Koch will use his time with Bjorn and Coach Cox to flush out those kinds of program features. Not being present in the contract does not mean they are not present.
Hurley used his contracts to hold URI admin to the fire to drag them up the stairs by stipulating enhancements. Those aren't gone now. It's silly to believe we have no more charters, etc, because that language isn't present in the contract.

Looks like just about the entire roster was there - the only people that I didn't see were EC and Tertsea (not saying they weren't there, just that I didn't see them).

Right, perhaps the feeling is there is no reason to put all that into a coaches contract and there is a trust growing that the program will continue to be enhanced because it is a shared vision.

Only 25k increase to the assistant coach salary pool is meaningless. A 6.25% increase is little better than a cost of living adjustment. It is not a significant improvement. It is far from THINKING BIG.

Re: The David Cox Era
Obviously some if it is going to depend on donors sticking to their commitments and being as committed with Coach Cox as they were with Dan Hurley. But the desire for those things hasn't evaporated. He also explained that the process for the practice facility were already underway. It doesn't make sense to publicly commit to specific expenditures until they are able to button down the financial commitments of the people they're depending on.RhowdyRam02 wrote:I also pointed out that Thorr didn't commit to it two weeks ago. Thorr, Dooley and Cox all talked about building upon the last two years. That means the WHOLE program, not just getting back to the NCAAT.

Re: The David Cox Era
There is a large difference between the desire to do it and it happening. We've desired to redo Meade, with an artist's rendering of what it would look like, since at least December of 2001. Desire means nothing, we need action, and there is no guaranteed action. That should be troubling to everyone. What are we doing with the extra revenue?TruePoint wrote:Obviously some if it is going to depend on donors sticking to their commitments and being as committed with Coach Cox as they were with Dan Hurley.
