If Cox truly doesn't know yet...then Dan doesn't know yet.

This is going to play out until the bitter end......no leaks at all.

I just know I'll be on the road tomorrow when the news breaks...it always happens.

The way this is going....it will be a total surprise.....bwaaaahhahaha

Just awesome to pick a guy based on Lamar coming back.....nothing to do with qualifications or anything.

Jerry wasn't qualified to be a towel boy in a restroom.

His 2 assistants were 100X more qualified than him....talk about back asswards.......if either of them were the HC then JB may have never happened.

The UConn hire has no meaning for URI. UConn still holding a spot for Cox.

Birdman is saying that our Dooley loves Joe Dooley, that he wanted to hire him 6 years ago ahead of Dan. Now we find out that he did interview this morning and his ECU deal is not done. We'll see.

Maybe Dooley wants ECU to increase their offer by leveraging his interest here.

Just throwing stuff out there at this point.

This stuff will go on all night.

Birdman is full of it. Dooley was all in with Thorr with the DH hire. Please.

Interesting though...seems possible our competent AD wanted Slick, Prez nixed it. Dooley may now want Dooley (can someone please jump on Ancestry.com just to make sure this is ok?) ... but what if Thorr now wants Cox...and the prez wants Dooley? This keeps getting better all the time....

Or, to answer HurleyShow's question..."yes"

Make no mistake about it, if Cox isn’t offered the position it will set the program back big time. Anybody saying differently isn’t paying attention. It will also guarantee that Cox, the entire recruiting class and most likely Fatts and Dowtin will follow Hurley to UCONN which will just further twist the knife into the back of every URI fan that’s passionately supported this team. Thorr knows what he needs to do. Just make the announcement already so we can start planning for next season.

Does Dooley want URI to basically start all over again from scratch roster wise?

And lose all the benefits [read: money] from our recent success? How about donations? Ticket revenue? More NCAA credits? And much more.

Look what all the increased publicity and exposure has done for the school. Some things can't be measured in money either.

Dooley's no dummy...he's been all in on improving URI's place in the academic and athletic world.

I would bet our boosters would balk at Joe Dooley...and put on hold at least some of the promised improvements to the program.

No shit, Sherlock.

I believe Fatts and Harris would go to UConn and 5 or 6 others, maybe more, would go elsewhere.

Yea Hurley would have to run some people off to make room for SIX transfers lol

I bet some of our guys would try to transfer up to a P5 and maybe some of the recruits also.

Wherever they'd go, it surely would not be URI without Cox.

This just doesn’t make sense. If we have rebuilt a fan base and rebuilt the talent, why would we make a decision that would undoubtedly negatively impact both.

This isn’t deciding between a high major head coach and Cox. Cox has to be the choice here and any other decision will have long lasting repurcussions

They are gone if the coach is not heads and shoulders better than Cox, like taken teams to the final four, got guys into the NBA type of coach. End the misery, none of these candidates are markedly better than Cox. Give him a shot and give him everything you promised Hurley to make this successful.

Doubt Fatts would go there with Alterique Gilbert there. Their fans seem to think Isaiah Washington could transfer there since they hired that Minnesota recruiter

If I was a major booster to this program, I would be on the phone right now to Thorr and or Dooley, and telling them you hire someone other than Cox [since they aren't hiring RP] then no more dinero from me.......

How this has come to this point imo is ridiculous.....yeah they had to wait until today to hire someone....but really?

I really wouldn't want to be Thorr Bjorn on this one. This is why he makes the big bucks, so to speak. So much riding on this hire and really no guarantees either way, they are probably just going to go with what their gut tells them.

This is intense.

Hurley after Baron was a slam dunk, easy money, no brainer, in comparison.

As much as I would have liked to see that, NYG, the timing is just not right. If Hurley had stayed one more year, then maybe next year would have been a different story. You can't blame URI for that. You can't hire someone with active, unresolved mess with the NCAA looming over them.

Although he is getting flak for their poor performance against the Syracuse zone in the NCAAT.....

208 is wishing, but he knows it can't happen.....yeah if Pitino didn't have that mess hanging over him....I could see us hiring him over Cox.

But then, he would still be at Louisville.......

Slick for two years. Cox gets a raise, stays as associate, with a bigger buyout if he doesn’t get the job in 2020.

Absolutely LOVE this idea, HS: Slick for two years. Cox gets a raise, stays as associate, with a bigger buyout if he doesn’t get the job in 2020.
