I don't think his kid sees the floor if he comes here, unless he gets faster on D then what he showed on the video in this thread. Would rather see Berry play if it got to that. Use the scholarship on someone who fits better.
Also Hass was 6'6" but played well above the rim because he is an athletic freak. Even when hurt he was special.

If he wants to dance, he'll have a better chance at Rhody. Pitt lost a bunch of seniors.

Sounds like he likes restaurants. I think he'll like the Coast Guard House.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
Lane is not an athletic freak, but he's certainly more athletic than Berry. He has range out to the 3 pt. line which is something we desperately need. Our frontcourt is very young and having a veteran presence will help us on and off the court. Our bigs are going to have growing pains just like freshman and sophomores do. I don't expect him to come here and average 15, I expect him to be a senior leader who will help open up the floor for our guards and hopefully bring some scoring in the post.rhodylaw wrote:I don't think his kid sees the floor if he comes here, unless he gets faster on D then what he showed on the video in this thread. Does he want to score a lot or does he want to win? Pitt won't be good next year.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
The article mentions a diet has transformed his game. Longwood site has him at 225 and other recruiting sites have him at 245. If he has lost weight from his vegetarian diet and training and is 6-6 225 that is a huge positive. That would put him in shape like the other Rhody players.

Woah, where did VCU come from? Hadn't seen them mentioned until now. They've got a big need for a player like Lane too.

VCU could really be in the running.
Longwood is not far from VCU, he could still be close to friends at longwood and stuff like that if he's at VCU.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
Without really knowing anything about him, I'd have to imagine that he'd play a significant role. I can't see the staff using their last scholarship on a grad transfer that wouldn't see much playing time. I'd guess that if he came here, he'd either be a starter (25-30 mpg) or the first big off of the bench (playing 20-25 mpg).

I think the schools that are interested speaks volumes: Pitt, URI, VCU, Wake.

It seems Pitt is mentioned with a few 5th year's, regular transfers. They must have a few scholarships.

Well Lane is visiting this weekend....if the staff likes what they see maybe we end up getting him.....but as long as there's a chance of landing Juiston, maybe they should wait?
Lane would be my 3rd choice behind Juiston and Toppin...of the ones we currently know about.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
Seems like every possible transfer that comes up everyone loves and wants to sign immediately.
Being a team that could very well be the Top Team in the A10 in 2017-18 we can afford to be selective, play the waiting game, no need to panic.
Not a position we are familiar with over the last 18 years. It might be uncomfortable but players are announcing leaving schools almost every day. We could even wait and grab a 4 star or 5 star player who has to sit out a year like Iverson and Robinson did.
This last Scholarship reminds me of the old saying that "this money is burning a hole in my pocket":

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
ramster, like was said before, we can wait yes, but if we fill the last spot and then someone REALLY GOOD becomes available, then we could still get him and voila someone will transfer out opening up another spot. Xavier just did it.
Sometimes you can't afford to wait too long either. We'll see.....
This would also help to balance out the classes a little more...won't need to bring in 5 or 6 for 2018......

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
We have open spots and front court needs. Not saying that Lane is the guy, but if you find a good player/team fit, then you pull the trigger. Wait too long and you risk losing out. With the grad transfers, it's a one year commitment. a lot easier to afford a swing and miss.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
Recruiting has risks. I don't know if Lane is ready to commit but, if he is, i would accept. He would clearly upgrade our existing front court both in skill and depth.
Reality is odds are Juiston is not coming to URI. Obbi Toppin appears to be waiting to see what other offers open up, especially a Georgetown offer. He recently took an unofficial visit there. I don't think you can consider him an interested prospect if he hasn't scheduled an official visit with us.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
When he visits will we work him out to get a better grasp on how good he is?
Or is film enough for the staff?
I have a friend that watched longwood basketball and I asked him how well Lanes game would translate to a higher level, on Facebook and he just ignored my question...
Guess he's upset that he's leaving.

Re: '17 Grad Transfer F Khris Lane
There are very good players backing out of their commitments most every day, even just today. Coaching changes triggering many of these. I would not take Lane because I only have one scholarship available. We can do better, I have no doubt.reckless jake wrote:Recruiting has risks. Playing time available at VCU. Danny Manning a draw at WF. Don't see Pitt or GW happening.
