I don't get how anyone could be rooting against Oregon. I hope they win the whole thing. The better they do, the better I'll feel about losing to them.

"Kansas has shot 13 more free throws than Oregon."

That sounds familiar

I third that. As much as I do not care for the antics of their team they are very good and it simply shows how good we were that we knocked out 6th seeded Creighton and came very close to upsetting 3 seed Oregon. I hope they win it all.

THAT was the Oregon team I talked about this season.
I felt Kansas would win it all, but the Duck's defense was awesome.
Jordan Bell was unreal, from beginning to end.
Dorsey scored so many dagger baskets.
Brooks and Ennis were solid.
Hell of a team.
Imagine, we were up 11 on those guys!
Happy to see Gonzaga in the Final Four.
They just dominated Xavier, who were never
in the game.
Can't wait for UNC-Kentucky tomorrow.
If SC can get past Florida, there would be three
new teams in the Final Four.
That's a good thing for college basketball.
Of course, the favorite will come from the UNC-Kentucky game.

True and we did all that with Hass giving us nothing due to injury

Now I am thinking even if DH puts in Cyril to rebound Bell still probably gets that board the guy is a certifiable beast 8 blocks today !!

I don't think Brooks would be as disrespectful under Hurley but I agree with the sentiment.

More importantly though, agree the more teams that aren't the "traditional" final four and national championship regulars that play into April, the better.

With nova last year and the potential for this year...the gap continues to close. Better for basketball.

Brooks gave that Kansas guy a real good push off too. He is a punk who plays with a chip on his shoulder but he is very good and if he was on our team we would love him

This Oregon team is tough with Brooks, Dorsey , Ennis and Bell, I think they will win it if they make the finals but that's a big if as UNC could beat them in the semis

Both Rhody & Michigan (my wife's alma mata) gave Oregon tough games. Both lost because they couldn't get key rebounds late.

Love it!
So great to see three newbies in the Final Four.
Still, I think the winner comes from the UNC-Kentucky game.
SC plays so hard on every play. It's very impressive.
For much of their zone, the had their center,
Kotsar, playing the top of the key, with
Silva as the rim protector.
Very tough to get over or inside on SC.
Thornwell is a terrific big guard.

Wow, what an end to the UNC-UK game. Just two great shots. Reaffirms my belief that end of game plays like that are about big time players making big time shots, not about a coach who can draw something up.

Yep we are very, very close.

How bout that crunch time deep ball by UNC off the the pressure on that inbound play.

My favorite play in basketball.

Without it UK wins that game.

I'm traditionally not a fan of Oregon. I refer to them as the University of Nike... but the fact we played them so hard and looked like the better team and they still managed a win... they immediately became my team for the rest of the tournament.

I'm hoping Thorr tries to get us a game out there next year. That would be an awesome non conference matchup that we would have a shot to win. History behind it; maybe an ESPN slot? I can dream.

URI many times scheduled West Coast trips in December, back when.
We played Stanford, USC, Gonzaga, Oregon State, Arizona, New Mexico, Pepperdine,
USF, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, among others.
So, why not play Oregon?

It also makes sense in the terms of a home-and-home scenario with us playing them away next year. We have a shot to be ranked pre-season again next year and a real chance to make it back to the tournament... so a win is a plus for them, and a loss doesn't turn out a blemish.

The following year we will have graduated EC, JT, Stan, and JG so the team will undoubtedly be in a bit of a reset mode. Get us early in the year and there's a good chance they can come out with a win. There's something there, without a doubt. Not to mention the Bobby connection to the Pac12.

I'm hoping Gonzaga wins it. I think it would be great for URI and college basketball for a team not connected to big time football to win it two years in a row.

Unfortunately all too true. Had we got through Oregon, Michigan was running on pure emotion -- emotion that a URI run to the sweet 16 would probably match. We were a better team than them, other than momentum... and we had that, too.

Kansas was weaker than people gave them credit for. They just got bullied by an Oregon team that we bullied for 35 of the 40 minutes in the game... there's no way we wouldn't have gave Kansas fits scoring.

We could easily be where Oregon is right now... Sucks. Makes me want more, though. We need this Shakur Juiston kid and we'll be right back there.

They were a big name in the '50s and won the
NIT in 1955, when it was the top tournament.
They've had 14 All-Americans, mostly before

Gonzaga and South Carolina are both in the Final 4 for the first time in the History of their Basketball Programs.

The last time 2 teams were in the Final 4 for the first time was back in 1973 with Memphis State and Providence College. They were matched up against one another just like Gonzaga and South Carolina will be this year. The other match up was UCLA vs Indiana.

Defensive Efficiency Rankings out of 351 D-1 Teams:
Final 4
#1 Gonzaga
#4 South Carolina
#19 Oregon
#42 North Carolina

In the NIT Final 4:
#3 California @ Bakersfield
#5 Central Florida
# 31 Georgia Tech
# 161 TCU

Interesting how proficient the Final 4 Teams are.
Only TCU in the NIT is an average defensive efficiency team - all the rest are well about average with 4 Teams in the Top 5.
