I think the tidbit about Terrell improving his outside shot and the one about Iverson are new info and pretty exciting.

True. The only thing that kept Terrell from being
the team's best player last season was his shot.
He gets that down, and he's a complete player.

I actually thought Terrell's outside shot last year was a little better than I expected, although still in need of improvement. The thing that disappointed me was how he went to the rim like a bull in a china shop and often missed as a result.

Rothstein would have reported from Italy in 1943 that things were looking great for Coach Mussolini and his team.

As others have said here before, maybe URI will be one of the 80 teams that Rothstein puts in his Preseason Top 25.

The truth is, Jared doesn't have great leaping ability.
He'd get to the hoop just fine and not finish.
I think the rim blocked him as many times as an opponent.

Yes, we know most, if not all of what Rothstein tweeted. However, 99% of college basketball fans don't know what we know/what he tweeted, so I don't mind his thoughts from today. It's only going to help our profile as the season nears.

The guy that is 6'1 and won the dunk contest doesn't have great leaping ability? Not sure I can buy that!

This is a great point. These tweets would have been disappointing coming from Bill Koch. However, Rothstein is serving a totally different purpose with his reporting.

I do think there is an energy and drive adjustment you need to make from high school to college. The hoop is the same height, obviously, but defensive intensity and challenges at the rim are a step above. With a year of experience, I think he'll get better at recognizing when he actually has a clear path to the hoop, which big men can and can't challenge his shot, when he should pass the ball out, etc.

I watched very game Terrell has played and I stand by what I said.
He's listed at 6'3", so he's now 6'1"?
He got stopped at the rim many times.
Slam dunk contests with no opponent are meaningless.
Gil won it one year. So what?

I think he can leap well enough. Might've been more difficult for him to convert many of those lay ups because of the improved height and athleticism of college players compared to high school guys.
He finessed most of his lay ups instead of going up strong. As Don Kaull pointed out a lot and I agree.
In the St. Bonaventure game he finished at the rim well.
But I do know what you mean, there were quite a few times where I wondered why he wasnt jumping higher after seeing him fly in the dunk contest. Same with Gil. Gil had some foot problems though

good stuff Adam.
I think hearing Four would be the first guard off the bench is interesting, not surprising, but interesting nonethe less.
Good to hear Akele and Thompson made good first impressions on Rothstein.

Four already has college basketball experience, so I've always thought he'd be the most likely to come in off the bench, whereas the other guys might take some time to work in, depending on their role. I could see where Thompson might be first some games though, depending on foul trouble and defensive match-ups.

Yea he has to put the force into the ground and actually leap. I think he tried too many finesse finishes, which are EC's thing.

Hope he fixes that. That is the thing about his game that is tough to watch.

I also would like to see him not fluctuate his body language. He doesn't stand on offense ready to receive the ball. He would kind of just sit back on his heels and watch. Then if the ball came he would snap back into an athletic stance. Great ones don't do that on any level.

Would have been nice to hear something on Butts, Berry and Onyekaba, but the absence of a mention may say more.

He said all A-10, not first team A-10. I could easily see, sort of expect EC Hassan and Terrell to be on one of the three all A-10 teams.

I'm expecting significant improvement from Jarvis....if his shot comes around like it did at the end of the year he will be able to get a lot of good looks playing with EC/Terell/Iverson. I'm expecting a breakthrough season. He was clearly lacking confidence early last year when his shot wasn't falling.

I'm thrilled if Terell has improved his shot. He had good form and shot with confidence last year. I really think he just needed more practice on that part of his game.....I'm not worried about him finishing at the rim...he was just a freshman and needed to make adjustments

Surprised but happy that Akele was mentioned, I imagined him not getting too much playing time / recognition.

I think that Thompson will be a star in the future.

True, but also may say something about then potential depth we now have. Hurley talked of competition for playing time when he first arrived And now he is getting there. The last 4 guys on the bench could be our most talented last 4 guys on the bench in many years - and some of those 4 with the potential to move up.

I think it's possible Hurley has a relative short rotation with the top 7 getting a lot of minutes and a couple of other players getting a few.
