All I know is that I've never been as emotional at a game as I was today. Tried fighting back the tears during the TJ tribute, but was unsuccessful. When his girlfriend and then his son came on the screen, that was it, all over for me. As far as the game, so many memorable moments. The Hassan dunk in the guys face, quickly followed by the EC three to break open a close game got me jumping up and down like a little kid. Gil's two steals at midcourt and going the length to score. Eric's basket at the end. Great game by the seniors and the sophomores. A couple of gorgeous passes by Jarvis and also showing incredible speed blowing by 2 or 3 guys for a layup, and also a beautiful spin move in the lane to score. This game looked like it was following a Hollywood script. I'm drained. Just a great day at the RC!

Gilvydas and TJ both played great today. they are going to need them to play at that level if URI is to have chance to win the tournament. They hit their fts today which made it oh so much easier. If Davidson loses, there is a three way tie for the A10 regular season title, but it won't change the seeding; Davidson, Dayton, URI.

During the post game handshake, Coach Martelli gave big hug and spent time talking to TJ.......just wonder what Martelli said, like to think it was a congratulatory and complementary remark on the close out of a top shelf player for Rhody....

A truly satisfying day today. Great to see Sly, and hear him on the post game show, along with Gil, TJ, and Eric. Very emotional with all that transpired, right down to the last shot. Thanks for a great season.

The ending was much better than the start. This was clearly one of Gil's best games. TJ was very involved in the offense but he didn't force shots. FT shooting kept URI beyond arms reach. I can't figure out Jared. Biggie is Biggie and is unlikely to get much better. Jarvis was a step quicker today than he has been playing. Great home ending to a good regular season.

Thanks to all of the players and coaches for a great regular season. It was very special to watch this team grow and turn the corner and become a winning program. I have to say I kind of lived and died with every great win and every gut wrenching loss. The dream is alive and the A10 tournament championship is within your grasp. Here's to keeping the season going into a long NCAA tournament run. believe and you never know what might be. Go Rams.

From Section 309:

Great, great game. Everything you'd want it to be for Senior Night. So glad that my (14 and 11 year old) kids are now into watching the game and being excited about it. Class act all the way around to honor the seniors.

I hope Jared can pull out of whatever little "frustration" slump he seems to be in. Maybe a few more days' rest will take of that...

Team really made nice offensive adjustment at halftime. Zero offensive flow first half, second half totally different story. Martin is an animal - love his play. Gil 8-8 from the line, say it isn't so!
So excited for the future of this team!

What else is there to say? LET'S GET IT DONE IN BROOKLYN!

Not the best game from EC....buuutttttt I think he looked way more comfortable than he has in about two months. If he gets hot next week - watch out. Hope this was the slump buster we needed going into Brooklyn

Does anyone have the clip of Hassan's posterizing dunk? Haven't seen it anywhere and it wasn't even on the Cox post game highlight video. Looked to be a definite SC top 10 dunk but the vid has to be out on social media to gain some steam...

Great game. Great day. Special to be there.
I am sure Gil, TJ and Eric will remember it for the rest of their lives.
I just picture TJ showing a video of the pre-game and game to his son when he is old enough to understand it.
I hope there is a position ar URI for TJ next year.

I should probably call my doctor, cause I know it's been more than four hours. What a great day. Decent weather, Mews, fantastic job by the athletic department putting together the pregame festivities, not having someone screaming at us every timeout, a wonderful atmosphere, and a game that went about as well as you could script it. Just don't get enough days like this one.

If I'm going to have any criticism, the University absolutely needs to figure out more efficient ways to move traffic on campus before and after games and have a more efficient process of getting people through the turnstiles. The crowds should only get bigger from here, we need to improve to meet the increased crowds

This is a day to celebrate the turn-around.......my gosh 21-8 in three years. This program was dead three years ago.

Hats off to Thor for identifying Dan's capability.

Thanks to President Dooley for leading the way to make it happen.

Thanks to coach Hurley for following his conviction, and building a quality team that we all respect. He took no short cuts. He did it the right way.

Thanks to the players for believing, and working probably as hard as any we have seen here before.

It is a day to celebrate what has happened this year !

Rhowdy, maybe. I would much rather sit in traffic among the cow paths of the campus and Kingston thinking about the victories we will experience on a regular basis than being depressed thinking about the lousy state of hoops we were accustomed to in the BDH era.... No?....traffic leaving the RC?.....a nice problem to have....

Agree, The event itself was allowed to be the event. The video board was wonderful in Pregame and the place went to tears of joy when TJs son was shown on the big board.
Could have done without the parachutes and t-shirt throws. Was nice that timeouts were not the focus but the players and the game itself were front and center.
One of the best Senior days I can ever remember. And one of the best, most fulfilling seasons in a long, long time.

How did anyone NOT have a problem with the traffic?
I sat in it long enough for a radiator hose to blow.
Nothing moved.
All they need to do is make Plains Road a one way out for an hour.
Everyone I've spoken to down there, says it's a good idea,
just like numbers on the poles in the parking lots.
Still nothing gets done.
You have a great game, and the aftermath takes away from the fun.

Yeah, Plains Rd back to 138 should be one way, and we should do everything possible to prevent unnecessary left turns across lanes of traffic. There are a limited number of options for leaving the area after a game. The University has the ability to route traffic the way that serves the community best at these post-game hours. Just because some guy wants to go against the grain doesn't mean he should be allowed to do so.

I Would stay longer if we could .... I So look forward to those 15 or 16 home games all year.....I like to prolong the experience in Ryan....

I've hung around after games some nights, and it is fun.
Players come out and URI Athletic's staff is chatting with people.
It's really nice.
Yesterday, I had to get back home to cook for the tribe.
I did hang around long enough to talk to Sly, The Godfather, and Daryl Jasper,
say hello to Chris Disano, and it was still gridlock.

I had no problem getting out. I park pretty far away near the road. I had a little wait on Plains Rd. I take a right on 138 and then get on Rte 2. I don't know if that helps. I do it to avoid the lights on 138 going by the campus.

I get home in 3m lucky me! This was a nice win, St Joe's presents some matchup issues if we aren't patient. Well coached and well executed by staff and players!

Before my dad's mobility and health deteriorated....I would linger with him down at floor level......I am locked upstairs with him now....and I wouldn't trade the time with him at the games for anything.......my nephew comes down from Boston for all our home games and we get to stay and watch him dribble the length of the floor after the game when they let all kids under 14 drive the floor and take a lay-up...

....the line is long for this opportunity to shoot like a Ram.....and it takes up much of our waiting time now...it is great to see some kids who are not much taller than the ball try to dribble it and shoot....the kids were all rewarded with chocolate milk containers after their attempt.....my brother recorded him hitting his shot and posted on it Facebook.....life-long Ram fans created....

Never seen a player as tenacious, diving on the floor for everything, giving it his all as TJ. Spoke with him once at a pre-season event. Really a great guy. Hope the best is yet to come for TJ and this team next week and beyond. TJ deserves to Dance.

The two items I plan to raise, and I hope others do also, are the parking/traffic situation and the use of the video board to show replays during the game - both of good plays and of close calls, especially when they officials are doing a review.

These are significant improvements to fans' game experience that wouldn't seem to take much effort to get done.

Agree about traffic and highlight replays, but I don't know if they'll do the close calls. Officials' credibility is already low; you don't want to cause a riot.

I sure would. I am strongly in favor of rioting if it jeopordizes the lives of the officials. That is one of the main reasons I am in favor of more replays.

(In all seriousness, they need to be showing the replay when the officials are reviewing a play, like the question yesterday about whether the St. Joe's player's toe was on the line.)

I agree ATP. every time I see a controversial play, I instinctively look up at the scoreboard knowing full well there will be no replay. I have found a way to leave that is a little convoluted, but faster with no traffic to speak of. I've done it the last 3 games and it has worked.

The reason the refs don't give a shit/suck is because most arenas don't have replay. You put those plays up on the board with a bad call and have 7000+ fans going ballistic, I guarantee we get favorable calls after.

Great post Ct.! Could not have said it better. What else can be said about a perfect afternoon in Kingston? As stated earlier, this was the signature win for turning this program around. Although I assume we are not "graduating" kudos to Section 205. The people behind me are absolutely fantastic. Glad to know that we are all "undergraduates" and will be back next year. See you on Friday!
