We can scout Davidson, on the A-10 site.
It's close, early.

Yeah, I'm sure Thompson only gets his points in garbage time.
Any more gems? He shoots 56.4%.
I couldn't care less if you're impressed.
I've seen him play twice before, and he is the real deal, who
you'll be seeing in the NBA for a long time.

No, he's a juco transfer:

"At Harcum College: Played his sophomore season at Harcum College where he broke the single season rebounding record with 414 rebounds and owns the single season rebounding average with 11.2 rpg…Bears finished last season ranked No. 4 in the final NJCAA Division I poll after winning a school-record 32 games…Helped lead the Bears to their first-ever NJCAA Final Four appearance last season…As a sophomore, averaged 18.2 minutes, 11.2 rebounds and 9.7 points per game…Finished the season ranked 14th in rebounding in the NJCAA and second in field goal percentage (72.5 percent)."

"It's a good feeling watching these type of games expecting to win, unlike the last few years. BIG game Wednesday let's hope it's sold out!"

"Nice win, hit some 3's, hit the FTs, overcame foul trouble on the road...won big. Love this team."WINNING!!!!! Feels so good

"WINNING!!!!! Feels so good"

"On a day where a (former) first place team loses at Duquesne, just to remind us of how conference play works, a nice road win for Rhody. Everything was just effective enough. My god, I love these guards!"

"Team is growing up before our very eyes. Took care of business today without any needless suspense."

"Time to welcome Davidson to the A10 and Ryan Center the right way - with a hostile environment and good old fashioned ass kicking"

All excellent comments I agree with. What a difference a coach can make to a program.

They score from their guards. I have to think, between
Terrell, Garrett, Biggie and TJ, we should be able to
stall their 3 point barrage.

Yes, Gio, today was a real team win, with no one player
standing out.
Terrell just has a knack for hitting big shots, no matter
what kind of shooting night he's having.
Garrett is becoming who we thought he was.
Gotta keep Hassan out of foul trouble, especially so early.

3 double digit wins in a row in February. Has to be forever since we have done that.

We didn't really play that well in the 2nd half and still won by 15. They have a pretty good player in Holloway who didnt play a minute, anyone know why?

Hassan with a couple rare dumb fouls, he usually stays away from those. We cant afford him on the bench for long stretches.

Guards getting better as individuals and as a group with each game. Back to back games where EC and Terrell both found their offense. Garrett coming on strong.

This has the feeling of times when we knew we had a good

on a bigger stage.
It's been so long, I was beginning to wonder if that would ever happen
at URI.

Love Terrell and Garrett. As good as 1-2 punch EC and Hass are, these 2 not far behind and just as important. This team is really improving every game, gaining more confidence and rounding into shape at exactly the right time. Forget the RPI, BPI, Pom, Sagarin, whatever numbers you want to throw at me, how about an old fashion eye test. Tell me this isn't one of the best 64 teams in the land!

its a pic from the locker room of the team, Gil captioned it "We made history, no URI team has ever been 11-3. Not even when they had Lamar or Elite 8 team."

EC, Terrell, Garrett, Gil, Hassan all posted the same pic. Camraderie on this team is next level.

Funny how he was corrected about it being in conference. Nice to see the team knows Rhody history and that former players are following this ride.

Those who may be watching Davidson game how do they look? How is Gibbs playing? Was watching St Joe's- Bonnies game and Joe Lunardi was on at half. Has Davidson in first four out and URI next four out. All they did was talk about Davidson, didn't even mention Rhody. Also announcers have mentioned Davidson and how well they are playing a few times during game, without mention of URI. At least I haven't heard them mention URI. Talking about how hot Davidson is. They've won 4, about to be 5 in row. Rhody has won 8 out of 9. Remember that win Davidson has at GMU in OT. The choke by GMU may have been the biggest I have seen all year.

I have kind of been on the Davidson bandwagon all year as far as being a good team and legit contender, but I am getting tired of their hype and "great story" crap too. Time for our Rams to show them some of what we got in front of a sold out Ryan Center.

Only one turnover for EC. Great!
TJ took over the turnovers today with 4.
Kenny Green came off the bench for a long time
here, to rest his injured knees.
Nice to have that kind of big time talent coming off
the bench to dominate play.

It's been said on here before that game prep is kind of dh's thing. This is sort of a lot of time before this game. With our guys playing their best ball. The pink out. Victory!!!!!

Also regarding the last 4 games.... Lots of talk of how many we win or what have you?

Gil hasn't had one of his "where did that come from games" recently so I am banking on him 1 of these, at least.

Our bigs need to play big against Davidson. Should have an advantage there.

We also switch on screens, which is VERY important against their 3 point shooting.

They are going to jack up at least 25 3's, so we have to keep them under 10 of those made.

We do that, we win the game.

This isn't going to be easy, with Gibbs back at close to full speed. Without him, I'd really like our chances, but with him, a blowout isn't likely.

Only way that happens, is if they go stone cold from 3, and does that ever happen?

Thompson played 2 years in Junior College already and he is now listed as a JR on the GMU Roster. Next year will be his Senior Year but talk is that Hewitt is gone at the end of this season so Thompson may transfer and have to sit out a year or he could opt for the NBA as another option of just play out his last year at GMU.

But he is impressing NBA Scouts already.

Terrell doesn't just absorb contact, he creates it. There was a stretch for him, right after Christmas or so, when it looked like he kind of hit a wall, mentally and physically. He had been pretty sick, and his shot just wasn't falling, which combined to probably look like more of a problem than it was. We take his confidence for granted, but it was a little bit of a struggle for him.

Even Terrell's misses yesterday looked better, if that makes any sense. When he was in that funk he had some shots that looked bad from the second it left his hand and missed badly. Yesterday the shots looked good, they just weren't falling for a stretch there.

Yeah, both Jarvis and Terrell's shooting is improving.

That's what we needed to take the pressure off of EC.

That's why our scoring is up. We're reaching that next level where we are now a serious contender for an NCAA berth.

I think a lot of us, myself included, weren't sure that was going to happen until next season.

With the win on the road at Mason yesterday, URI, with just two road conference games remaining, is assured of winning season road records in the A-10 (currently 5-2) and overall (currently 6-3). This feat has not been accomplished for several years.

I wish I had the common sense to sync 920 with the A-10 feed. After the "absence of rebounding on the Rhode Island team" comment I figured we were in for a long afternoon of less than mediocre commentary. None-the-less $4.95 well spent.

Going into the home stretch of Coach Hurley’s third season I am so impressed with the quality of the men on this team both on and off the court. When I run into one of the players, in-town or on campus, they will without exception do a little stop and chat or give a high five (well in my case a low five.) My last issue, Coach Hurley’s in game micro-managing, is beginning to fade.

Davidson has somehow become a media darling. Let’s crush them before a rocking crowd Wednesday evening and help put an end to that!
