Also RoadyJay what was discussed with you late in the game? Looked like it might have had something to do with your signs or how youwere holding them up?

Re: Signs - 2014-2015
I was complaining much of the game about Paris Bass (#35). It's a carry EVERY time that guy handles the ball. I realize that every player does it, but his dribble is just a flagrant carry.
This one particular ref apparently had enough of my complaining about not calling it and that's when he engaged me.
He asked me "Do you like your seats?"
I told him "Yes, I do"
He then said something like... "Well you're not going to be in them much longer."
I told him.. "You can't do anything about that."
That's when he stopped the game and went over to the scorers table and asked to speak with Vinny Turco. Vinny is the Assistant Director of Operations. He oversees all game operations.
At the next media stoppage I saw the ref speak with Vinny and then Vinny came to speak with me. He told me that the ref had no problem with me cheering on the team but if I did anything beyond that I would be ejected.
Completely bogus. I never said anything remotely inappropriate.
The way I understand it is that a ref cannot eject a fan from the game. He can, however, request that home game management eject a fan. Thus the reason he went to the scorers table.
Vinny is a great guy, by the way. It's not the first time he's had to talk to me and I doubt it will be the last. It really all depends on the refs. Some ignore me, some laugh, some are very engaging and explain their reasoning behind the call or non-call. And some, like this guy, just had enough.
Not sure what you are referring to about getting spoken to late in the game. There were several Ryan Center staff that came up to me after the incident with the ref to ask me what happened. All were supportive. They know my shtick and know I'm never inappropriate.

Jay, the only poster you need for the rest of the year is a close up of your face after that dunk....it will motivate our team and scare the shit out of any opponent.

The kids who have the big face posters of celebrities should throw them away and make JayFaces...imagine a sea of Jays.
I am copywriting "JayFace" and envision his mug all over the country. Imagine turning on a Seton Hall- DePaul game and seeing Jay?

Re: Signs - 2014-2015
The sign with Brown player, Rafael Maia, is him wearing a Cruzeiro soccer jersey. Cruzeiro is a Brazilian soccer team and Maia is Brazilian. I did some digging and found out that his favorite soccer team is Atletico Mineiro, whose biggest rival is Cruzeiro. The portuguese underneath basically says that he really wants to be a Cruzeiro fan, which the Atletico Mineiro fans call "Marias"
I've worked quite a bit in Brazil over the past 6+ years and wanted to make him feel right at home.

Maia saw the sign once and then would not look my way the rest of the game.
He surely heard my portuguese though, which was very uncomplimentary of his game.

Hey rhodyjay would love to know what the ref was complaining to you about? I was sitting behind you and never have I seen a ref get " rabbit ears " and talk back to the fans. Maybe he was just mad he blew 5 calls before that.

Re: Signs - 2014-2015
I let him know that he wasn't having a very good game and he turned and told me to "Sit down!" Of course, I told him I didn't have to sit down. I never heard that you had to sit down at a basketball game. He said he would eject me. I asked "for what?"Rhodysk wrote:Hey rhodyjay would love to know what the ref was complaining to you about? I think he then realized he had absolutely no reason to eject me.. and just asked me to tone it down. At that point I just agreed and then went back to cheering.
This was the same ref, Bryan Kersey, that Dan had a problem with all night.

Can we add Roadyjay to the list of people that cost URI the game; right beside Hurley...he obviously influenced the refs

Safe to say he had a really bad night. Here's an idea instead of worring what the fans are yelling worry about what's going on the court. He blew a lot of calls and he knows it. Safe to say if we see him again we won't be getting any calls. I can only imagine what Dan was saying to him.

Re: Signs - 2014-2015
I said this in the game thread to but it probably belongs here. I seriously have never heard of refs being so concerned with what fans are doing. It's insane to me!
