You're joking. Selling booze at sporting events is like printing money. They'd make wayyyyy more money than 1k per game. And winning might bring in the public, maybe the underclassmen (maybe). Booze will bring the upperclassmen. No two ways about it.ChiPhiRhody03 wrote:Tom98 wrote:If we sold alcohol we would have a minimum of an extra 1k per game in my opinion. Yeah. I don't think the simple presence of booze guarantees that you'd have 1,000 more (about 15 percent) in attendance. I do think it would generate a lot of income from the people who were already planning on attending the game though, and the profit margins for alcohol are typically higher than pretty much any other concession item, IIRC.twisted3829 wrote:he means add 1k to attendance not extra 1k in money

Re: Nebraska: PROJECT PACK THE HOUSE !
While I like an occasional drink, I just have never gotten the beer at events issue. I know it is valid, but for me, I have never made a decision on going to a sporting event(or any event for that matter) because beer was or was not being served there. Do people actually think or say "I am not going to that game, concert, movie, etc. because they don't serve beer"? Just weird for me if that is the case.
BTW, did anyone catch the Creighton player get drenched in beer by the "swell"(EDITORS NOTE- my favorite Rod word of all time) sitting at the front row table last night? Classy move by the guy on the baseline pointing and laughing as their own player got soaked.

I'm with Ramtastico, Steve and Chi on the booze angle.
If all you want is booze and to watch a game, any local
sports bar would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a ticket,
and overpriced beer at a sporting event.
I want people at the games who care about this program,
and anything else is a bonus.

Yikes, Disano's preview makes me nervous! It'll take a breakthrough night by our guys.
I feel like I expect us to win... Ahh! So many possibilities though. Just can't wait til Saturday night!

They will come back if they like what the see. This is like asking if people will show up to a store after the grand opening sale is over. That's the whole point of a promotion. You can't know, but you try to expose people to what you're offering by incentivizing them to check you out, and hope they like it enough to come back.

727 by my count. I am not counting obstructed view seats because I would not sit in an obstructed view seat so I can't say somebody else should.ElmCityRhody wrote:who is counting up the green dots later ?
I think they may have release some bunches of tickets recently. There are sections (in the corners) with 70+ or 80+ seats available, including whole rows. I don't remember seeing that the last time I did the check (on Wednesday). It seems like we are heading for 7000+ which will feel like a sellout even if it technically isn't. Hopefully good student turnout will narrow the delta between 7000 and a full house.

Listen guy, first off, love the user name. Second, booze is not gonna draw a bunch of broke students who'd likely have to fork over $8/beer just so they can drink during the game. Could it help? Sure. Is it even in my top 10 list of things needed to get the students in the arena? no. I go to the URI/Fordham game every year since I'm down in NY. They literally have a bar underneath Rose Hill Gym. During halftime, you know who's jammed into that bar? Alumni. Rarely do I see Fordham students in there - and again, IT'S A BAR UNDERNEATH THEIR BASKETBALL COURT. Booze ain't the answer - it's not working in Fordham and won't pull much weight in Kingston. Just. Win. ...a whole bunch of games.

Now, if we're using booze to support the "we need more revenue from our existing customers" argument, then yes, I support it. I'd happily drink 3-4 beers and drop $30 during the game. But again, I can afford it as can most alumni. Students won't be a huge revenue generator on beer concession sales.

Dont most OOC teams stay in Newport when they play us? Thought that was one of the incentives typically advertised when scheduling a game.
