Game #2 - vs UMass-Lowell - Sunday, Nov. 16, 2pm
The River Hawks were 10-18 last year; their first Division-I season. This season they are picked to finish last in the America East according to the preseason coaches’ poll. Key returners for the River Hawks include DJ Mlachnik (7.8 ppg), Chad Holley (10.3 ppg) and Kerry Weldon (5.4 reb).
They were routed in their season opener on Friday night by #20 Ohio State, 92-55.
We beat them early last season at the Ryan Center, 79-68. Chad Holley had 23 points in that game, so we will need to focus on stopping him. X had 16 pts, EC 15 pts, and Iffy had 9 rebs

Game will be streaming again on Cox ($5 this time - http://www.coxhub.com/coxhublive) but also noticed it'll be on SNY for those of you outside RI who might have Uverse or DirecTv.

Right, looks like all future games will be $5 each. Glad I'll get to not only see this one on TV but save $5 as well. Not that I really mind paying it when necessary.

Tomorrow's game seems like it should be a nice test for the new ribbon boards. Based on the way they spoke about the technology and how I've seen boards like that used at TD Garden and similar venues there seems to be no reason they can't have a portion of the boards devoted to a scoreboard for the men's soccer championship to keep us updated

Looking for these; better FT % than 63%. Bulter to spot up knock downs some threes, reduced PT for JR I agree with those that say the trial for him to produce in major way is over. Four players in double figures, with one over 20, force action to score on turnovers. Bench points + 20. Too much to ask against this opponent?

I fear Butler will become this year's Iffy. Solid first game (though not comparable numbers really) and then we don't see that kind of production again. Hope I'm wrong. His shot did look good.

If Biggie lost 15 pounds Butler is at least 10 pounds lighter. This has to help his defense, his ability to get to the basket and of course his shooting. Based on last night I am expecting a lot more from him this year.

Re: Game #2 - vs UMass-Lowell - Sunday, Nov. 16, 2pm
I'd be happy if he established himself as a piece of the rotation this year. He was barely getting into the lineup last year even though the Rams had almost no depth, so if he can manage to get into each game this year and not look out of place, especially defensively, it puts him in line to contribute his junior and senior years. Given the talent in front of him, I'm not sure if he'll ever start, but good teams need players who are OK contributing off the bench.adam914 wrote:I fear Butler will become this year's Iffy. Re: Game #2 - vs UMass-Lowell - Sunday, Nov. 16, 2pm
I think Butler really will have an impact in a classic A10 kind of way his senior year. Develop over 4 years, mature his body, his mind, bring an impact the 4th year.
I think his shot is a given, if he's open I think he just knocks it down. His defense is atrocious and he just isn't Div 1 physical though. Will hold him back until the end of his career here.
Imagine Biggie's physical presence and Butler's offensive prowess.

Let's lay down the pound on these cupcakes, get everybody minutes and run the playbook cover to cover. Should be a 20 point win. These Rams are fast and athletic and I'm liking it a lot. Go Rams.

Point spread?? We come out aggressive on both ends, establish dominance to take them away from their game plan, speed them up to our advantage....out rebound them on both boards...

So pumped to see this year's team for the first time this season. The Hare news was a downer, especially since I've been a big time supporter of him on this board. That's in the past though. Rod said that this is the most talent he's seen in our backcourt since he's been a fan of the team. That's all I needed to hear from last game. LET'S GO RHODY!

Yeah the board and putback from JR was a nice play. The thing I've taken from the first 50 minutes of the season is that I am all-aboard the Garrett bandwagon. He is a real point guard.

If we can just play all games against teams with 6'2" forwards than Reischel can be a real factor for us.

I'm legitimately worried that Earl is going to shoot 13% from the FT line.

Disappointing half. Lots of fouls, lots of turnovers. Unbelievably, if not for Reischel, we're losing.

Not to be that guy...but that was one ugly half of basketball. I know foul trouble didn't help, but if we play like that more we could be looking at 2-4 in a couple weeks easily.

Watson will get hacked to death until he shows he can hit a FT, but this isn't new information about him.
Martin and Terrell sitting on the bench made this much less exciting to watch. Minnis, Matthews, Butler, Reischel, and Watson got a lot of play together. Why not, it's a good time to see what some of them can do.

Yeah that was a very last type of performance. Like the defense though. Just gotta be more consistent on offense. Also, the soccer team lost

I agree that this wasn't a great performance, but they handled a team they are better than relatively easy even without their 'A' game. I really like Garrett. We could survive these two games without a dominant EC, but we are going to need him to step up over the next couple weeks.

PC played Albany to the wire..
These games against awful opponents have no rhyme or reason. All across the board.
Have to be happy they got so much work in 1 weekend and now can prepare like a football team over the week for Neb.
Hopefully we can run the ball considering they just gave up 408 yds to Wisconsin...
EC will be fine when he just settles down and takes the mid range shot that is his thing. Putting the head down to the rim can be a problem with 5 guys under the rim.
