Where are we compared to five years ago? I hear a lot if bad stuff about USN's methodology, mostly because my law school feels it should be rated higher. I hope the ratings improve, but I feel like I received a good education - and had a great time - at URI.

Lowell is a very depressed area and I do not understand how it could rank higher than URI being in a very safe rural area and 10 minutes from the ocean. I've never even met anyone who went there?

That's why these things are stupid, though. USN uses some weird metrics that lead to some crazy results. There literally isn't one person that would get into UMass-Lowell and URI and choose to go to UMass-Lowell. That person does not exist. So those rankings can get bent as far as I'm concerned.

I don't buy in to those results. There's no way…especially with all of the upgrades to various facilities on campus over the years.
URI is typically strong in Engineering, Pharmacy, Oceanography(cough…Bob B….cough), Landscape Architecture ( yes, landscape architecture) and I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting.

Here is where we are number one at least. Being good looking is crucial.

URI is a top choice for so many kids in exclusive communities of westchester, CT, LI, etc.. We are doing something right.

These rankings are not just about what is going on at URI. The sad truth is that other regional schools are spending more, building more, and increasing their profile at a rate faster than URI.
