Jekyll and Hyde team, those Friars.

A top 25 team at home, a stinko team on the road.

As of right now, I'd put them as a #2 or #3 seed in Jim Baron's favorite tournament.

Did anyone see on the A10 board, where if we win 5 more games, we're on the CBI bubble?

I think it would be great for us to make the CBI. Get the young guys postseason experience, X gets a postseason game in a Rams uniform, and show recruits and teams we want to schedule that we truly are a program on the rise. Not sure I'm seeing a downside.

If you missed it, go to watchespn.com and just watch the last 5 minutes of the Bryant/RobertMorris game. Exciting finish.

A busy schedule in the A-10 today. In addition to URI at Fordham at 7 PM, we have:

Richmond at VCU. A 11 AM start on ESPN2. An intra city rivalry game in the A-10.

GW at Dayton. Dayton can right its A-10 season by beating the Colonials. Can they?

George Mason at Saint Louis. A duplicate of URI's upset of the Bilikens last season would do wonders for the Patriots in their first season in the A-10. At 2:30PM. On NBC Sports.

Duquesne at La Salle.

UMass at St. Joe's. At 6 PM. On CBS Sports. UMass faces another road game against a team who they barely beat on their home court just weeks ago.

VCU beats Richmond, 81-70. VCU led all the way.

Dayton gets back its 3 point game and beats GW, 75-65. GW played the game without their three primary guards.

Just got back from the Depaul/PC game. Depaul covered the 5 1/2 point spread with a last minute tap in which was nice, since I bet against PC again :D

PC was up 16 in the first half but Depaul had a nice run to tie it up late.

Saint Louis in OT right now with George Mason. 25 fouls called on GM, only 6 on SLU for the game, but GM still sticking around somehow.

Another heartbreaker for George Mason as they lost in OT to Saint Louis, 87-81. GM led for most of the second half, by as many as 8 points, but Rob Loe came to life in the closing minutes as he hit a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left to tie game. The Patriots had a chance to win, but missed a jumper in the final seconds of regulation. Rob Loe then hit another three at beginning of OT to give Saint Louis the lead which it did not relinquish.

In other A-10 action:

UMass made it a game at end after being down by 16 points at one point early on. Some botched free throws and a lay-up by Chaz Williams contributed to the UMass demise as St. Joe's prevailed, 73-68.

Also after a tight first half, La Salle come out in second to blitz Duquesne, 71-63.

Today’s results involving URI OOC opponents:

Providence grabs a nice road win over De Paul, 77-72. Bryce Cotton puts in 28 points.

LSU over Arkansas, 88-74. Kentucky win appears to have energized the Tigers as they move up to fourth place in the SEC.

Southern Miss in a romp over Tulane, 78-47. With the win, the Golden Eagles take over first place in C-USA.

After a deadlocked first half, SMU came out flying in the second to beat #22 Memphis, 87-72. SMU moves into a third place tie with Memphis behind Cincy and Louisville in the AAC.

Brown beats a good Columbia team, 64-56 and move its Ivy record to 3-1.

UMass-Lowell beats Binghamton, 62-55.

Maine beats UMBC, 83-80

McNeese State beats Oral Roberts, 79-68.

North Carolina A&T loses at MD-E Shore, 67-60.

UNC-Asheville edges Longwood, 67-66.

Also,

Davidson over The Citadel, 62-43.

Canisius routs Fairfield, 84-58. Bill Baron had 17 points. Canisius is now in first place in the MAAC, one–half game ahead of Iona who they meet in a big game on February 9 in Buffalo.

Could you imagine if they don't get in this year?

I still think there's almost no way that happens, they would have to totally collapse.

But if they lose to us on Saturday.....it could start to get pretty uncomfortable up there....

Umass has beaten BC, PC, Clemson, New Mexico, BYU, LSU, Nebraska and a good Ohio team, thats hardly Baron-esque.

That's what I mean, UMass will be hard pressed to choke enough to miss the Dance.

They have a ton of good wins. But they still have to be above .500 in conference, or they're not getting in. This isn't your mother's old Big East.

It would dwarf anything JB did. Epic fail indeed.......

Closing out the week's relevant action;

Sacred Heart rallied in the second half, but Bryant with its 18 point half time bulge would not be denied as the Bulldogs won a road contest, 76-67.

Buffalo lost a tough one at Bowling Green, 74-68.

I cannot close out the week's activities without mentioning the epic battle that took place in Syracuse yesterday when the Orange edged Duke in their first ever ACC contest, 91-89 in OT. This was a terrific competitive game played before a record Carrier Dome crowd of 35,466 that had everything. Make no mistake this beginning of new rivalry was something special and the scene was a preview of what the new ACC will become in college basketball. And these teams will meet again at intimate Cameron Indoor on February 22. Stay tuned for another thriller.

Oregon State beats UCLA 71-67.
Former recruit ("we didn't really like him") from St. Anthony's
Hallice Cooke looked great, going for 20 points.
He's shot over 50% from 3 in his last 9 games. Oh, and he's
a 75% free throw shooter.
I can see why we "didn't like him".

Good question, ATP, remember that unlike URI, Duke students not only have to wait in line to get the limited number of student tickets, they also have to pay for them.
