ESPN Top 75 Players in NCAA Tournament History
ESPN Top 75 Players in NCAA Tournament History
Below is a link to the ESPN article that names Bobby Hurley as the 16th best player in NCAA Tournament History. It's pretty impressive.
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... 75-players
"16. Bobby Hurley, Duke
Hurley might have been the third-most celebrated player on his own team -- Grant Hill and Christian Laettner were the stars of Duke's back-to-back national championship teams in 1991 and '92 -- but perhaps no one was more valuable. A year after UNLV routed the Blue Devils 103-73 in the 1990 national championship game, Hurley never left the floor in Duke's 72-65 victory over Kansas in the '91 final, which gave coach Mike Krzyzewski his first national title. Hurley scored 12 points with nine assists in 40 minutes against the Jayhawks, only two days after he never left the floor in a 79-77 win over the Runnin' Rebels. A year later, Hurley scored nine points with seven assists in 37 minutes of a 71-51 victory over Michigan's famed "Fab Five" squad in the 1992 championship game. Hurley averaged 12 points and 7.3 assists in 20 NCAA tournament games, leading the Blue Devils to victories in all but two. -- Mark Schlabach"

Sometimes I sit here and can't really believe Bobby Hurley is an assistant on our staff. How could you not come play here?

ESPN continues to be ridiculous.
Come on! Stuart Scott's five minute rap on
Michael Jordan? Barf!
I'm sure he'll come up with one for RGlll soon.
I love the MJ stuff, but that was over the top.

I love the fact that Bobby is at URI. My first impression was that he must be able to recruit anyone he wants. The only thing is the kids he is recruiting now weren't even born when Bobby was tearing apart the competition at Duke. I know they can show videos and what-not, but I just wonder how much a recruit cares about a college player from the early 90's no matter how good he was.

Most of these kids are in their own world.
As Hurley said, "some of them are delusional".
They are the center of their own universe, and have hangers on
pumping their egos Many think they're future NBA stars.
The only way they'd know about Bobby is throught their high school or AAU coaches.

OR if they end up seeing him on ESPN judging the college basketball dunk competition like he did last year.

I'm sure when Bobby shows kids the 2 championship rings, that can't hurt.

I agree. For a split second I had thought he died with the way the WWL was paying tribute.reef wrote:The 2 week love fest on Jordan made me sick

ESPN just loves to worship at the altar of some sports stars.
Jordan, LeBron, Favre, etc.etc.etc. Some coverage is great, but 24 hours of it day after day gets old real fast.

A retrospection of RGlll on his birthday, was wayyyyy over the top.
He's their next binky. Never mind that Andrew Luck is the best pure QB
rookie in years, and his team went from 2 wins to 11 and the playoffs.
ESPN has already ordained RGlll as The Next Big Thing, following their Tim Tebow
worship 24/7.
