Giancarlo Stanton Hit In Face
Well for all us Sox fans dreaming of this guy playing right field for the Sox next year, Giancarlo Stanton was drilled in the face under the left eye (Tony C redux?) and carried bleeding on a stretcher off the field into an ambulance. His father came running onto the field. Sounds pretty serious. I hope for his sake, it's not, regardless of where he plays next season.

One of the scarier things i've seen on a baseball field. Really hope it doesnt diminish his skills/career at all. The kid is special and so fun to watch hit.

Re: Giancarlo Stanton Hit In Face
Tony "Old Lady" Mazz wrote that there are similarities with Tony C's
tragic beaning.
So far, Stanton seems to have cuts and facial fractures, but nobody has reported
any eye trauma, which is significant.
Tony C's vision in his left eye deteriorated after his big 1969 season. He said he
had to almost turn his head square to the pitcher top even see the pitches coming.
His career that was so bright ended because of his beaning.
I hope Stanton comes back to full health, wherever he's playing in the future.
Baseball needs great young players, and Stanton ranks just behind Mile Trout on that level.
