Absolutely right. Using Ken Pom now to judge Fordham as if it’s more reliable than NET is debatable.RF1 wrote: ↑1 year agoThat logic becomes more flawed with each year given all the player and staff turnover that has become the norm in today's college basketball.ramster wrote: ↑1 year ago Ken Pom uses last season’s performance in calculations gradually adjusting as the new 2022-2023 season progresses. I believe Sagarin also bases on prior year performance.
NET uses only the current year in calculations.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
Does it? If you believe in program strength, then you probably do trust St. Bonaventure to have a better year than Fordham anyway, even if they lost a bunch of players. Or, why it seemed like Xavier and Dayton just kept rolling year after year, even as they replaced coaches. The KenPom ratings seem more correct to me than NET right now, as a measure of a team's strength, but I realize I'm more skeptical of these paper tiger teams (Fordham) and it seems like this year, results are more topsy-turvy than normal.RF1 wrote: ↑1 year agoThat logic becomes more flawed with each year given all the player and staff turnover that has become the norm in today's college basketball.ramster wrote: ↑1 year ago Ken Pom uses last season’s performance in calculations gradually adjusting as the new 2022-2023 season progresses. Been watching a good part of this game, GA State is gonna be a matchup nightmare for us. Good guard play and their bigs can all handle the ball. Giving Auburn everything they can handle. Completely different team that came to the Ryan Center last year with only 1 starter from last year getting any minutes tonight.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑1 year ago Georgia State up 31-28 @Auburn at the half.

They were about as athletic as Auburn and played smart basketball.

DePaul was an excellent program at one time (60’s, 70’s, 80’s?). They had some entertaining teams to watch under coach Meyer. The program has really sunk to consistent mediocrity or less.

Stubblefield was considered one of the nation's top recruiters as an assistant at Oregon.
He is only in his 2nd year as HC of Depaul, so let's see what happens.

Coached from 42/43 through 83/84!
Then his son took over until 96/97!
What a ridiculous reign for the Meyers!

They would be much better off with St Louis, Dayton or Loyola of Chicago. All Catholic schools with much better basketball history than DePaul.

Historically I have now learned DePaul was pretty dominant for a very long time
They still have more tournament appearances (tied with Loyola for most final 4's) than any of those schools and an NIT championship from back in the NIT glory days.
Kinda crazy they were so good for so long only to be almost entielry hopeless for a couple decades now

Mississippi State is now 10-0 in Year 1 under Chris Jans. How good is this team defensively? Jackson State --- tonight's opponent --- is the first team this season to score more than 55 against the Bulldogs.
It scored 59.

Creighton has been struggling as of late.
They are a different team without BE-DPOY 7' center Ryan Kalkbrenner.
He has been out with mono and been slowed by the illness prior to not playing.

Hope for a Marquette win. I know UNC will overshadowed them as the preseason #1 team, but Creighton was a preseason top 10 team and going to .500 before conference play is poetic justice. Fuck McDermott for letting Preston take the fall - aways and forever.theblueram wrote: ↑1 year agoThe good thing about the Creighton/Marquette game is one will lose. Murphy met with his friend Christian Dawkins and an undercover FBI agent in a hotel room.
PM received a check for $6,000.00 to steer players to Dawkin's sports management company.
Murphy claims he didn't keep the money and returned the check.
Murphy made a mistake, but I feel the NCAA was too harsh on him.
Hopefully he gets back into college coaching after this year.

Down goes St. Bonaventure to Florida Gulf Coast, 71-58. After some nice wins against Notre Dame and a good Middle Tennessee team, the Bonnies have hit the skids

I am actually surprised the Bonnies have won some of the games they did.
They are the only NCAA team that doesn't have one holdover that actually played a game for them.
Plus, that is even without a coaching change.
I think FGCU made a strong hire in Pat Chambers, currently 9-3.

Re: 2022-23 Men's Games of Interest
SBU, now 6-5, has two more games to close out its OOC schedule. Both are on the road on their opponent's court- at Siena and at Northern Iowa. The Bonnies have lost both of their only other true road games thus far (Canisius and Buffalo). They will have to break that streak to achieve a winning non-conference record.
