Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
I bet he thinks he has a good shot for this year and a year like next year it has to be expected.
Thing about this year is TJ and Gil. Guy like Jordair Jett last year just dominated the league after being considered a defense only guy that could hit a set shot now and then for 3 years. Jett was nothing his whole career and then dominated because he was older than everybody else. Simply put, don't really have to be better at the game when your just stronger than everybody else and can make layups/free throws.
Not saying TJ can duplicate anything like that but I personally think he is capable of 8-10 ppg and some much needed offensive rebounding/aggressive passing that gets an easy shot for others.
Our two seniors being impact players and the absence of them across the league I think pushes into the top 6. The team has to take care of business and we should rack up wins.

Jett was a physical freak, like Terrell is. He was always a good player,
but he stepped up his offense as a senior.
I think if TJ looks more to his offense, he could easliy score double figures
as an average.
Gil? I watched NC State, and they mainly ignored their inside players,
much as we seem to do.
Purdue pounded it inside. I think percentages favor the latter, game to game.
We need to funnel the ball to Gil and Hassan with greater frequency.

Yea right now Gil and Martin might be the best front court in the A10. VCU's cox is only 6'6, huge but not tall in the least.

Agree times 2. gil only got three shots in mi state. We need to concentrate more on getting sets that get him the ball down low; that optionat licttle jump hook will be successful against many, often against taller competition. Think about that horrible 10 minutes in the Ge Tech game; we really needed another reliable option instead of guard play.rodfromcranston wrote:Jett was a physical freacan k, like Terrell is. Youssou Ndoye, a 7'0" Senior at St Bonaventure leads the A10 in Rebounding with 11.0 per game plus leads the Conference with 3.0 blocks per game
Dion Wright, a 6'7" Junior at St Bonaventure is 5th in rebounding with 8.3 per game
LaLanne is 4th and Escho is 11th in rebounding for UMASS to date

Ndoye will be a load for our frontcourt to handle.
The Bonnies are better than predicted. So is Davidson, I think.
Anybody else in the A10?

We came close on a 6'10" kid, who backed out.
They are keeping a scholarship open with a mind towards a
2nd semester transfer, who could play next December.

For a first post, that's quite the statement. I was pretty sure most fans were convinced of Dan's recruiting capabilities since last season ended.BornNBred33 wrote:Landing a decent in season transfer might prove that DH can do it without Preston....Lets hope.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Midseason transfer lists are usually pretty limited, I wouldn't have too high of expectations. And since the player is essentially giving up a year of eligibility to get out of dodge (unless their father is a head coach who is fired...), very often there's some baggage.

There's still semester-Christmas breaks coming, which will add to this list.
Kids come back to friends, relatives and "handlers", and reviewing their situations.
Are they happy where they are? If not, what options do they have?
Feelers are put out to schools. Decisions are made.
All part of college basketball 2014.

About 70 kids transfer mid-semester and not every school has a scholarship available.

Doubt we've locked up a 2016.
As I said, don't know if it's a '16, a juco, or a post grad.

I don't like vague information like that.
Don't get why whoever didn't ask for a name and
just settled for "a 6'10" guy".
I posted it, because it at least gives us some idea that
staff thinks as most of us do = we need size.
Other than that, it's useless.
