Yeah I caught that to. Asked the players, have you had your 15 minutes of fame or do you want to accomplish something.

well announcing it at the end would be a decent idea if you wanted to have more people listen to the entire show.

Nothing.
If he was 100% sure he was staying, why not say it? I still would not be shocked if he left.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show: TONIGHT 6pm @ George's of Galil
Great show, but nothing said about it.
I'm sure it was discussed between Don, Steve, and Dan before.
In other words, it wasn't to be brought up.
But listening to Dan, it's hard to believe he could leave.......
I just don't know....if he has already decided to stay, say it and end any suspense.
I guess if it's a complete non starter, then he figures why even mention it?
I lean toward that. A made up story by a bunch of NJ hacks.....

I just don't get why he would have a team meeting and then come to his show and say all those things tonight if he is leaving. He has enough respect for Thorr, his players, and our fanbase that he wouldn't just bullshit us and then leave. He's a better person than that.

I agree studs. He's not leaving.
I would be beyond shocked if he did now, after what I heard tonight.

Potentially many reasons. Not the least of which is that the people who need to know his intentions already know. Maybe he's doing Hobbs a solid and not destroying his leverage by taking his name out, which doesn't cost him anything - and actually helps raise his profile (and ours by extension). Or maybe he's just a sociopath.Rhody15 wrote:Nothing.

Berry got 15 minutes of national praise per game.
Life has been berry, berry good to him this year!
Lots of lost weight, better health, some good development, and proved that he has some game when most thought he'd be just the butt of fat men jokes.

I DID like what Dan said, that there are things that the players AND coaches have to work on to get better during games.
He's not laying the late game issues entirely on his players, in other words.
Or that's the way I took that to mean.....

um Hurley is no dummy....letting all this drama kick around with his name on it and likely his agent doing all the dirty work for him is brilliant. I also agree it doesn't hurt URI one bit either, we are back in the news and our 2016/17 team is in the spotlight.
I had zero expectation he would show his cards tonight.....
I think he is ultimately staying to ride the loaded team he has next year to the promised land.
( and "show his cards" is not a super secret hrstrat57 Stanford Cardinal message I have no inside info )

URI gets good publicity, he gets good publicity. Look at StBonaventure getting screwed, maybe they needed more publicity to the point of almost daring the Committee to leave them out. After looking at the RPI and other data it's is a travesty to be left out. We do not want that repeating itself to any A10 team next year.

I heard all I needed to here early on when he talked about having a team meeting this morning about commitment. While he obviously didn't come right out and say anything about leaving, I felt that reading between the lines was very easy in many of his comments.

I'm sorry.. But to not be asked is amateur hour
Why hold URI's most loyal fans on this board in the dark ?
As I stated already, I'm with ATP and that he isn't going
But the question needed to be asked... And answered

Why does he have to substantiate something reported by the Red Bank Journal Gazette?
I actually like him more for ignoring it like its a non issue and focusing on his guys and this program.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show: TONIGHT 6pm @ George's of Galil
I'm not sure you understand what a coaches show is, and I don't say that to be mean or anything, but its essentially Dan's show, they are just hosting it. They aren't going to ask him something he doesn't want to answer. And I can understand and appreciate that there are reasons he doesn't want to answer it right now. I think he did a very good job of answering it without ever having to come right out and address it directly.ElmCityRhody wrote:I'm sorry.. But to not be asked is amateur hour

I think it would have been difficult for him to have been much clearer than he was about his intentions without coming right out and saying it. Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show: TONIGHT 6pm @ George's of Galil
ECR, maybe it was asked either pre or post show, not on the air of course.
Usually Dan hangs out for a while after the show and answers questions from people who stay after.
Blue Man perhaps? Haven't heard from him.....
Still, if the answer was he's not interested, we should know that by now from someone, so maybe there were a bunch of "no comments" after all.
Maybe we won't hear anything until Rutgers announces their new coach. Then we'll know!
bar and Adam, good points.

Listen, at the end of the day.. When he stays, then it will make sense that he said nothing
Let's hope these reasons for why it wasn't addressed is because he is trying for uri to make concessions and to improve things for men's hoops - and not because he is willing to take the Rutgers job

No sense wasting energy (or judging) either reason...

HA 208! In all my years in the journalism biz, I have never seen anyone quote Mickey Rivers. Priceless! Rivers was a classic player in that if he wasn't on your team, you likely hated him. I never hear his name, like he never played the game. Maybe because I'm far from the Northeast these days. Great quote though, even in his less than eloquent version!

If you grew up in the NE, you definitely knew who Mick the Quick was...as in, "how come we (the Sox) never have anyone that can steal bases and cover ground like that?"
He was a good listen, always. And that version...is probably as eloquent as you'll ever get from him.![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Are they still doing the coach's show on Monday at the Mews? In terms of on the court product, there's nothing really to discuss, but could be a nice one to attend with Hurley definitely coming back.

There was originally one scheduled for Monday, I'm sure when they were assuming post season basketball. And I'm sure the Mews wouldn't be heartbroken with extra people sitting in the tavern. Just not sure if it's going to happen now.

If you didn't hear the last coach's show you'll definitely want to give this a listen. For those that were able to make it, did anything interesting or noteworthy happen off air?
