Speculation seems to be Jermaine Harris, but no confirmation from his social media or any verified media accounts.

A change in uniform number for a player is technically a roster change.

What exactly do you agree with 83? Every subject regarding the basketball team falls on Cox. The fact that people want him fired creeping into every thread? A thread where yet another player is transferring out of URI? This team is a disaster right now. That is on Cox 100%.Rhody83 wrote: ↑3 years agoAgree with 15 100%Rhody15 wrote: ↑3 years agoI (along with multiple others) just don’t understand how you can post the same thing daily in multiple threads over and over again.

I think it’s the best for both parties if JH transfers , he can go to a lower D1 maybe a MAC school like DJ did and get more playing time and we can get more time for Samb or one of the younger players

Re: Roster Changes
So, it is possible that a guy who won't get much time wants to transfer to a school where he can, in a year where that move is penalty free?
Likely a player that would not be happy otherwise? (and remember we do not know who it even is)
I agree with reef - that is actually a smart move by both parties involved.
Anyone who feels differently is just spinning every bit of info to meet their desired narrative.

Even though last season was disappointing, it was a very abnormal/difficult year even for a seasoned coach.theblueram wrote: ↑3 years agoWhat exactly do you agree with 83? I wouldn't call this team a total disaster. We do have some talent and depth in the frontcourt with Walker and the twins, along with some youth. The backcourt isn't totally lacking with Ish, Shep, Ish2, Tres, maybe an improved Carey, and Martin on the wing.
We may not contend for the title, but we won't be an easy out and should be very competitive.

Re: Roster Changes
I’m not predicting we contend for the top of the conference, but it also would not surprise me if finished top 4. Almost the entire team was new last year, in an incredibly weird year. They fell apart in conference play completely after having some tough losses early. I don’t think that is abnormal in a normal year. Not being completely reliant on one player to determine the outcome of the game should help as well.Jersey77 wrote: ↑3 years agoEven though last season was disappointing, it was a very abnormal/difficult year even for a seasoned coach.theblueram wrote: ↑3 years agoWhat exactly do you agree with 83? Just went back and watched a Harris highlight video on Rivals. Very unimpressive. Not sure how he got 4 stars. In fact that rating probably hurt him.

Re: Roster Changes
Starting to get a little late in the game, with the upcoming no-sit rule deadline.
Many rosters already set and schools keeping some scholarships open because of the extra year eligibility.
Lots of the impact transfers in the portal and top recruits have found homes, and it will be extremely competitive for the quality players still left.

Re: Roster Changes
I’m hearing Harris’ contract is holding up the trade. He’s paid like a Top 100 recruit but the performance is that of a low major player. Rhody may have to eat a portion of the contract in order to move him.

The fans who bolt after a few games aren’t fans anyhow. Anyone who likes hoops and Rhody will be at the RC next year after a year plus of no fans at games. I would guess most people will have a long leash and be happy to just be at games again.

So you are saying this is being initiated by Rhody and not by Harris.
If that’s the case, they must have a transfer lined up that will come.
Otherwise you let Harris finish his 4 years.

Don’t we have an open spot from DJ leaving? I don’t get the need for a taker for harris. I also think that even though he hasn’t produced as expected there is no reason to run him off before his senior year. If he sees the future minutes as under 10 a game and wants to leave, I get it, but no reason to run him out (unless I am wrong and there is no room for an impact transfer).

Re: Roster Changes
Please understand that many if not all college coaches have relationships with AAU program directors and coaches. The HS coaches lost the majority but not all of their influence and power many years ago. When it doesn't work out for a player or a program it's in everyone's best interest to work together in order to find the right fit for a player so you do not burn bridges. Many times there are other factors that come into play when a player leaves such as family issues, personal issues, medical, legal, etc. A decision to leave can be mutual so the player and staff work together to find the right fit.

Re: Roster Changes
I agree with you that it is in the staff's best interest long term to make that transition smooth for a player we recruited heavily. If it is the player's choice to leave at this point that is fine. With an open scholarship I do not see the need to run off a guy (presuming we are talking about Jermaine) who is about to enter his senior year. I don't see a lot of minutes for him here next year and any minutes he takes away from Samb probably is not good long term for the program (unless Jermaine finally breaks through) but that could be managed for a guy who has been loyal to the program when many others have not.Bo Bo wrote: ↑3 years ago Please understand that many if not all college coaches have relationships with AAU program directors and coaches. I know you only just recently joined Keaney Blue, and welcome!
In posting Roster Changes, then providing no detailed info, it obviously gets speculation going.
Roster Changes to me means there is more than one change coming - is that what you meant to convey? or is it only 1 and then correspondingly 1 addition too? or are two players leaving and 2 new coming? or three?
Most transfers today happen by way of the Portal set up by the NCAA. Record high transfers are currently in the portal - that sees the number increase each year since it began. The Coaching staff finding a good landing spot for a players still happens to some extent but by far the Portal runs the show.
Speculation on this thread now centers around Jermaine Harris, no surprise at all if you have read this board the past 3 years, but for you it might be a surprise since you only joined KB a month ago.
For me personally I hope it is not Jermaine, but that's just me.
Can you let KB Members know when this news might be out and speculation can end? Threads like these remind me of the old joke "How do you keep an asshole in suspense?"

Re: Roster Changes
Ramster here is what I can share. There is a mutual understanding that a change of scenery would be best for both parties. That process needs to work itself out. I doubt the staff will enter the season down 2 scholarship players. Expect at least one to be filled and possibly both. I suspect 1 gets filled and the other will be held. I hope that helps.

Re: Roster Changes
Nice to see Ishmael El-Amin officially added to the roster #42
Abdou Samb is now listed as jersey #1, after much speculation.
Normally I would like to see them fill every open spot on the roster, but under the current situation leaving 1 or 2 open scholarships might make sense.
Walker and Martin both technically becoming seniors and graduating would probably be an upgrade over whomever we may bring in, if they decide to return for the additional year. Next year they would count towards the scholarship limit of 13.
JH's status at this point is uncertain, as we all have discussed with much speculation.
AB's playing status (2nd half of the season) is a question mark, with his severe knee injury.
