Agreed. Lacking the ability to read stats on my phone, but KI has been tremendous in conference.PeterRamTime wrote:Whose with me in the

KI's been consistently effective in just about every game.
Averaged just under a double double.

Re: A-10 Conference Awards
I'm surprised Terrell didn't make one of the teams but overall that's about what I expected.

Re: A-10 Conference Awards
Yeah Jared got snubbed.
Love EC but Jared Terrell is our best most consistent guard.
EC's heroics at the end of the Davidson game may have helped him into the third team.
HASS and Jeff getting what they deserved.
Can't disagree too much with this.
Next award is Hassan Martin MVP of the A10 tournament....

Actually did better than I expected for how URI is usually treated by the league.

Had 13 out of 15 and POY and COY right.Iggy1979 wrote:Probably forgetting someone but:
1st team: Gibbs, Davidson; Lewis, VCU; Cline, Richmond; Cooke, Dayton; Martin, URI.

3rd team: Tillman, VCU; Cavanaugh, GW; Terrell, URI; Matthews, URI; Mobley, SB.
Surprised Mo Allie-Cox didn't make it.

Re: A-10 Conference Awards
Because being the best defensive player doesn't automatically mean you're one of the best overall players. I believe Briante Weber won DPOY 3 times in a row and didn't make 1st, 2nd or 3rd team any of those times.section(105) wrote:......I just don't get how the defensive player of the year is not then first team....?

I don't think Terrell was snubbed. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with his A10 performance. Disappeared in a number of games.

Disappointed might be strong, but still don't feel he was snubbed that bad. Would love to have seen him on there of course.

Re: A-10 Conference Awards
I hit 14 of 15 on the 3 All Conf Selectionsramster wrote:This Tuesday March 7 the A10 will release Conference Awards. Now that the Conference play is over all the data is final for decision making
These are my guesses:
FIRST TEAM
Jack Gibbs Davidson Sr. G 6‐0 - 21.4 ppg (first)
Jaylen Adams St. Bonaventure Jr. G 6‐2 -19.2 ppg (third), 6.5 apg (first), 2.1 steals pg(second)
Marquise Moore George Mason Sr G 6-2 - 16.9 ppg, 10.0 rpg (first)
T.J. Cline Richmond Sr. F 6‐9 - 18.6 ppg (fifth), 8.3 rpg (sixth), 6.3 apg (second)
Tyler Cavanaugh George Washington Sr. F 6‐9 18.7 ppg (fourth), 8.6 rpg (fifth)
SECOND TEAM
Matt Mobley St Bonaventure Jr G 6-3 - 18.7 ppg (fifth), 5.7 rpg, 87.4 FT%(third), 2.0 steals pg third)
Scoochie Smith Dayton Sr. G 6‐1 - 13.6 ppg, 4.8 apg (fourth)
JeQuan Lewis VCU Sr. G 6‐1 - 14.2 ppg, 4.9 apg (third)
Hassan Martin Rhode Island Sr. F 6‐7 - 13.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 55.4% FG%, 2.1 blocks pg (first)
Peyton Aldridge Davidson Jr. F 6‐8 - 20.4 ppg (second), 8.9 rpg (third)yg
THIRD TEAM
ShawnDre’ Jones Richmond Sr. G 5‐11 - 17.1 ppg(seventh), 4.3 apg, 86 FT%,
Charles Cooke Dayton Sr G 6-6 14.1 ppg, 3.3 apg, 1.0 block pg, 41.5% 3FG,
Kuran Iverson Rhode Island Sr F 6-9 - 9.3 ppg, 8.8rpg(third), 1.8 blocks pg(third)
Justin Tillman VCU Jr F 6-9 - 14.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg (second)
Kendall Pollard Dayton Sr F 6-6 15.2 ppg, 54.9% FG,
ALL‐DEFENSIVE TEAM
Charles Cooke Dayton Sr. G 6‐7
Joe Chartouny Fordham Soph. G 6-3
Hassan Martin Rhode Island Sr. F 6‐7
Mo Alie‐Cox VCU Sr. F 6‐7
JeQuan Lewis VCU Sr. G 6‐1
All Freshman Team
Jeff Dowtin - Rhode Island G
Mike Lewis II - Duquesne G
DeJon Jarreau - UMASS G
De'Monte Buckingham - Richmond G
Charlie Brown - St Josephs G
3 more items to guess:
Coach of Year: Archie Miller
Player of Year: Jaylen Adams St Bonaventure
Freshman of Year: Mike Lewis II Duquesne
Defensive POY: Hassan Martin
Only missed on Kuran Iverson who I still believe with 8.8 rpg and 1.8 blocks per game (both of which put him 3rd in the Conference) should have put him among the Top 15 players. I did not have EC so I missed on my own team's player
On Defense I missed on Davis and Watanabe whereas I had JeQuan Lewis and Joe Chartouny. I have a big problem with Chartouny not making it. Fordham led the A10 in Steals. Chartouny of Fordham led the A10 in Steals by a wide margin and he led the Nation in Steals Not sure what the guy needs to do but that makes no sense to me
On Freshmen I missed on Mike of Duquesne whereas I had DeJon Jarreau. Had the other 4.
Had Coach of Year, Defensive Player of Year.

Re: A-10 Conference Awards
Only one I missed was Mathews on the Top 15 picked. I had Iverson and still think he was deserving of All Conference. Our two big guys played very well. I did not have Mathews or Terrell.rhodyfan3 wrote:I don't think Terrell was snubbed. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with his A10 performance. Disappeared in a number of games.
But Terrell probably had All Conference over Mathews until the last two games of the A10 season against St Joseph's and Davidson. The Davidson game in particular probably got the other Coaches leaning towards Mathews. Maybe even to the extent he bypassed Iverson.
Combined for the Last 2 games:
- Mathews Scored 31 points on 11-29 FGs, 8-10 FTs but only 1-14 on 3FGs plus 5 rebounds
- Terrell Scored only 7 points on 2-11 FGs, 3-4 FTs but 0-5 on 3FGs plus 4 rebounds
We must get good shooting from our 3 guards beginning Friday. Iverson and Martin will be expected to continue their solid play but it is going to take all 5 Starters playing well.
The Stats to be considered after 18 Conference Games:
Minutes: Mathews 28.4, Terrell 30.1
Points PG: Mathews 14.2, Terrell 11.7
FG: Mathews 42.6%, Terrell 39.8%
3FG: Mathews 31.0%, Terrell 34.8%
FT: Mathews 64.6%, Terrell 70.2%
Rebounds PG: Mathews 3.7, Terrell 2.9
Assists PG: Mathews 1.6, Terrell 2.0
Turnovers PG: Mathews 1.9, Terrell 1.7
Steals PG: Mathews .4, Terrell .8
Blocks PG: Mathews .4, Terrell .2

Re: A-10 Conference Awards
Gotta agree with Ramster here. Iverson deserved a 3rd team nod.
He was the only player on this team to be there every single night in conference. His stats told part of that story but he very quickly became our most important piece while Hass was out, Jarvis was out, and EC/Jared spent nights finding themselves.
Certainly not to say that EC didn't win us 3 conference games by himself (UMass, both Davidson games), it's hard for me to say he was more deserving of that 3rd team spot than KI.
