Why? The only ties he has to Rhode Island are Johnston and Hendricken. He had his chance a long time ago to create a real history with URI and didn't. End of nice story.Cameron_Dollar wrote:Joe Mazzulla had interest in the DOB job. He put the feelers out which often precedes a formal application. He was told thanks but no thanks. Mazulla should easily appreciate there is a better option argument.

Re: Tirone Leaves Program
I'm still wondering about the Graduate Assistant job.
Chris Martin had done it for two years now.
Isn't there a limit on that, since it's supposed to go to a student?

In regards to Mazulla, I'm with Bressler on this one. Mazulla had a chance to be part of the URI family when he was a player and flat turned us down. I don't even think we were his 2nd choice.
Find another path. Didn't his Dad play at Bryant? Maybe Tim O 'Shea can find a spot for him.

But then again, Mazzula's younger brother is a good prospect...

And then again, you don't hire just for one player or sell your soul for a pipeline…..
It would poison everything Coach Hurley has established here.
As an aside, look what the re-recruitment of Jordan Hare turned out to be….I wonder if Coach Hurley would have offered Hare if he had been head coach a year earlier?

There's lots and lots and lots of good prospects.
The younger Mazulla isn't coming to URI anyway. In my opinion, if he stays in RI, he'll go to PC.

Re: Tirone Leaves Program
Mazzula is also a scum bag and couldn't not get into trouble...even at West Virginia, where Huggy Bear basically keeps most of the stuff his athletes do under wraps. Hitting cops and choking women. What a guy. Shouldn't want him anywhere near this program...obviously Dan felt the same.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

GAM makes more sense for Younkofski than DOB.

First released in the above link, now it's Twitter official
Eric's a tremendous resource to the team and a great example of how guys can benefit from this program. He followed Hurley to URI as a preferred walk-on, graduated in three years, and is on the fast track to coaching his own team, running a mid-sized nation, or anything else he wants to do.

Mazzula sounds like someone to avoid. Though I don't fault him for choosing WVU over CFL. Who wouldnt? He want to a Final Four.
