I wouldnt look into those iona losses too much. A couple of them was when they without Isiah Williams. Who is a huge part of what they do. They don't usually go to deep into the bench. So that was a huge lose for them. He came back for maac tournament and played great untill the title game.

Like Rod said above. They shoot it from everywhere. Laury is the biggest worry. If Hassans knees are banged up, I'm not sure who covers him. I would guess TJ, but then I don't like the other matchups.

It will be interesting to play out. I hope they come out of the gates strong and don't let Iona get comfortable.

You can watch some of Iona's recent games via WatchESPN.com or the WatchESPN app. I'm watching them play the MAAC tourny semifinal vs Monmouth and the way they played that game doesn't match this shoot-within-10-seconds thing I've heard here.

I'll watch a few others to see if I can spot this kind of pace everyone's talking about.

The two rules changes for tonight are the 30 second shot clock, and they're moving the restricted area arc to four feet from three. No change to the three point line.

Iona is a very good team. Not an easy draw at all. There's a reason no one wants to schedule them.

I'm sure it's been there for a few games, but this is the first time I saw it.

Tried to register for the pre-game rally but it was sold out. Didn't see the email because it was caught in my spam.

Also had the same trouble with the email, never got it, but just called and my tickets were printed instead and sitting at will call.

Here's an interesting quote from the Gael's board:

"Lots to ask, but if it comes together, and we can get up somewhere in the higher 70's...That should be enough for the win......"

I guess they don't do much research. Only three teams scored over 70 or more against us. Kansas at neutral which we lost, Richmond at Richmond which we won and Dayton at Dayton which we lost.

These guys are gonna get a look at one of the best defensive teams in the country tonight. And it ain't gonna be pretty.

Kansas had 76, Dayton had 75 and Richmond had 74.

The biggest key to me thinking Hassan was hurting last game, and considerably so, was that he had zero blocks against Dayton.
Got me to look back:
Hassan has has zero blocks in 5 games this year:
Game 4 Kansas
Game 5 Santa Clara
Game 27 LaSalle
Game 29 St Joe
Game 31 Dayton
He had a 21 consecutive game stretch with at least one block from Game 6 to Game 26

With 3 of the last games with zero blocks it makes me wonder, however he had 6 at Dayton and 5 against GW in the A10 Tournament

Will be something to watch tonight.

None of us know the extent to which the injuries to Hassan and to EC are impacting them. Hopefully both are better for the NIT. We need them both.

Its hard to tell how much of it is the shot clock and how much of it is Iona and us playing to their pace, but its fast paced for sure.

Terrible officiating once again. Refs give IONA at least 8 free foul shots, and 4 more more with the techs. Good first half though. Good job keeping up with their stupid fast-pace offense and getting back on D.

Hassan's knee must be bothering him. He normally explodes over the rim, he seems to be struggling when elevating and is leaving shots short.
'No Mercy.'
