Maryland guy gets injured, and it means more minutes for a Duke transfer. Maryland is just so talented- and big- this year.

Pretty good season preview article, with quotes from Dan, EC, and Hassan.

I know many hate my "must win" diatribes. Here's my prediction. If we play and beat Maryland we will be ranked top 25. If we lose, we won't even be in the others getting votes.

I agree with the first part of your statement. The thing is, Maryland is the best team we could play during this regular season. So if that is a must-win, then we have to go 31-0 I guess? If we win 26 games and one of the ones we lose is Maryland, we will be fine.

Having said that, Go Rhody Beat Maryland!

pretty damn close to 31-0. 23 wins with no major victories and ....see you in the nit. pc, valpo won't be major wins.....unless we win the conference tournament of course.

What do you consider major? Valparaiso will be a top 50 team and Providence could be if Dunn's supporting cast comes along like they hope. Old Dominion will be knocking on the door of going to the tournament. And that's just out of conference. And what if we don't play Maryland, is the season entirely irrelevant until the conference tournament?

Last year, they were on the outer fringes of the bubble conversation with 22 wins, with a weaker schedule. Davidson made the tournament with 24 wins, with the most significant OOC ones being Charlotte and UCF. The Atlantic 10 has a decent enough reputation that usually teams with 23+ wins at least get consideration come tournament time, depending on who the wins and loses came against.

Beating Maryland obviously isn't the only way into the tournament.

Right, and it's actually both the game they can most afford to lose and the game that would be their biggest win.

Yeah, I could see a well placed brick off the back rim bouncing straight up and hitting the ceiling. Maybe the next location for McDonald's to shoot a Bird vs Jordan horse commercial.

I'd definitely be trying some trick shots off the lighting... maybe jumping off the bed but not getting a good takeoff, causing your knee to go through the door (may or may not be based on real life events).

As the saying goes, "defense travels," which can be a good thing on these awkward types of courts.

Four might have to cut down on the trajectory of his three point shot -- or maybe its like the Devil Rays field where its in play off the ceiling.

First thing I thought too. Like playing table tennis (or beer pong) in a basement with low clearance.

I think this is from one of last year's games, which makes it look somewhat better. If that attempt right before halftime didn't hit anything, it's ok-

With a game on Tuesday at 6pm, I would think they might leave today. Most teams like to be at the game location a day in advance to have practice on the court where the game will be played. This would be especially true when the site is a funky gym setup where the players might need time to get adjusted to the unusual setting.

Should be a good time to bond, to become closer together as a group, especially for the newer guys. If we end up playing Maryland, hopefully the refs let our big guys play and don't call any of the cheap shit. Hassan, Earl and Kuran all have to play big minutes.

Different type of court for sure, but all teams play on the same court so no excuses. Barren Ball excuse making is only in our history.
North Carolina, ranked #1, lost Saturday so Maryland moves up to #2 Nationally, will be the highest ranked Team we will play this year
Great opportunity for our guys.
Can't look past TCU though.

Here I am rudder.

Currently watching Rider v Clev St. I have no idea how Rider hung with Maryland.

Two awful teams playing right now.

Illinois St putting up a good fight vs. MD. Maryland will pull through and win this game but this #2 team in the country is definitely beatable.

Maryland at least right now isn't playing anywhere near like a #2 team in the country.

Need to continue to do that, and maybe we could pull a surprise?

TCU up 15 vs. Illinois St. with 5 minutes to go -- this makes our win over them much more respectable. We beat TCU, TCU stomps Illinois who almost upset Maryland, now we play MD ... Lets see how this will go
