And this is probably a top 5 reason why teams shouldn't take busses to games..

Re: Game #20 - @ St. Joe - Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7pm
a lot cheaper getting a bus than getting train tickets
I'm sure they wouldn't pay full price but just looking at Amtrak it's about $150 per person for round trip to and from philly via the Kingston station near campus. A bus is probably around 500 total.

Money is still a consideration, plus nothing much was getting into or out of Philly International anyway.

Re: Game #20 - @ St. Joe - Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7pm
I've always had some kind of mishap anytime I've dealt with the Philly airport (thanks, US Scareways). Sounds like bus would have been the best option at the time, Amtrak tends to get a ton of delays with their crews trying to "de-snow" the tracks (I dealt with that during "Nemo" last year). Regardless, hope everyone made it to PA safely. I was hoping for squirrel suits! But that works. and True story on the Amtrak delays. I admit I forgot about those. I used to take the train all the time and it was a major huge pain in the butt.ace wrote:You caught me, I'm all about risk and hardship. I love it, live for it. Those in South County, Giro's is one of the few bars that has Cox and the bartender was more than happy to put the game on last week.

Anyone catch Hurley's show last night on MyTV?
They have a clip of him in practice screaming,
"YOUR COACHES WANT IT
MORE THAN YOU! YOU DON'T COMPETE! WHEN THE COACHES WANT IT
MORE THAN YOU, THERE"S A PROBLEM!"
"YOU WANT A REST? YOU NEED MORE REPS!"
Very interesting. He told the interviewer that he didn't like how they
performed in their previous game, so he wasn't happy.

Re: Game #20 - @ St. Joe - Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7pm
I'm full aware of the A10 ref style and the shady play for us on the road and the fact we don't get an advantage at home either. I also understand joes is not that bad this year.
We did beat LSU and play SLU to a point back to back. Tough travel, more adversity for a team that has to be used to it now. It's a new season for us and we are a team that is getting closer to an identity.
All that said, I'm holding my breath for a win. A win here would put us in the thick of the A10 fight. We should be shooting to finish in the top half of our league.
Good finish would give evidence and a narrative to sell to coaches and recruits(no recruit picks a school without advice from people). Really great chance to change the course of the season next few weeks, tonight especially.

Seawrightspostgame, I don't think this the game you want to hold your breath for unfortunately. This would probably be as unlikely a win as any game on their schedule. It wouldn't be impossible, but neither is winning the lottery if you play. Of course I would love to see it, but they would have to outplay the Hawks by a lot to have any chance with the officiating they can expect to face. I can only remember the Rams winning there once in the past 15 seasons.

Comcast out of Cherry Hill in South Jersey does have the game in HD for those in the Camden/ Burlington county area on channel 846 comcast network. It is also available on the Philly side as well. My Dayton Flyers are on at the same time on CBSSN, so I will be flipping back and forth. Go Rhody! Go Flyers!

Seriously! I think we have the players to run with this St Joe's team. Hopefully the guys are poised and anxious but the baskets need to be there too. There are just so many factors and right now, sometimes even when the effort is there/ we just don't make shots. Rhody is going to need to put up the points to go with the solid D to win this onetheblueram wrote:I really want this win.

Re: Game #20 - @ St. Joe - Wednesday, Jan. 22, 7pm
Some observations on St. Joe's.
- The St. Joe's starting five is as good as any of the top teams in the league. Their bench depth is a question as they play a tight rotation especially in closely contested games. It may be the root cause of their failure to finish off Creighton and UMass.
- Senior forward 6-8 Ronald Roberts is very athletic and likes to dunk the ball. He is prime to fouling and has been prone to turnovers. How URI defends him will be telling.
- 6-2 shooting guard Langston Galloway and 6-3 point guard Chris Wilson gives the Hawks an excellent backcourt.
- Fairly good 3-point shooting team, they will put up a minimum of 15 attempts and that will increase if their game is hot. Like most averages, this can be a bit deceiving because in many of their tough games, other than Creighton when they hit on 14 of 31 attempts, they showed marginal performance 3-16 vs. LSU, 4-20 vs. Villanova, 6-26 vs. Temple. In the last few games SJU has quickly streaked out to huge leads which demoralized the opponents and this was based on 60%+ 3-point shooting. For URI prone to slow starts, e.g. GW, and scoring droughts. e.g. La Salle, this could be a death knell.
- St. Joseph's does not shoot fouls well, but given URI's performance in this category this may not matter.
Playing a tough experienced team on the road for a young and inexperienced URI team is one helluva challenge.

Well said. I would like to add that if we can just manage to stay within striking range at the half. That should be an indicator that we should have a serious shot at winning.Obadiah wrote:Some observations on St. Joe's.

i hope pre-game is a time for Cox to work out the kinks on this stream. The more things change the more they stay the same. Luckily this is the first need to stream in a very long time for me, but as usual the stream is choppy right now.

Need to shoot well, and Gil needs to stay out of foul trouble.
The 3-headed monster has to score tonight, to have any chance.
If we play good D, we should at least hang around.
