Its a long way from South Providence. Not surprised it is a nice house. Would expect that as Cooley is one of the highest paid persons in RI (a fact that the Providence Journal seldoms mentions).

Cooley's bad year

Big win for the Friars tonight, but that league is in trouble if Georgetown is terrible.

Georgetown is living on past reputation They aren't your father's Georgetown .... The big east ain't your father's big east....

There is a lot of pressure on Georgetown to perform since they took the outlook of "We are the major face of this conference" during negotiations last year. The Big East can survive short-term with a lackadaisical Georgetown, but that is because in a year like this, the conference has Villanova as a strong team and Greg McDermott and Creighton as highly-marketable as "exciting." However, those aren't entities you can hitch your wagon to, at least not Creighton. Villanova did have a few year run In the late 2000s were they showed potential to be a top program, but don't seem to have that pedigree that the Hoyas do.

That said, the Big East has played out just like most thought, deep conference where most teams could beat the other on any night. 1 or 2 great teams, 1 or 2 bad teams, and a big stinky mess in the middle.

Well, what happens when Doug McDermott graduates. I watch Creighton, because I
love his game. Their success is tied to him.
Georgetown? They get to the NCAAs and it's one and done.
Marquette? Dull, dull dull. Like watching St. Louis play.
BE is lucky Villanova is seemingly back to what they once were.
PC had a realistic chance to win it, if all the calamity hadn't happened.
What's the future of the conference? I'll bet some Fox Sports executives
are not feeling too secure right now.

Unfortunately the Big East is at a point where they are extremely reliant on player development to remain at the high level. It's impossible to dismiss the great recruiting cycle the Big East has had and continues to have. But do they play? At what level do they play? It's one of the big unknowns, since top to bottom the Big East nearly has every team with a Top 100 recruit or two, in addition to the great recruiting from last year.

It's hard to hate though if the Big East gets half the conference into the NCAA Tournament though. As of right now, they are stuck at 4 unless Marquette goes 11-7 in the Big East, which is totally possible. The other matter is performance though, but given Villanova and Creighton, they Big East should be around that magic ~.500 for NCAA success.
