Re: A10 Media Day
Agreed, Rod and Ace. We talked a year ago about Hassan's body and it's potential to bulk up. Now he just needs to learn how to use it properly and not foul too much.
Love how we have pressure at virtually all positions for playing time. Hungry players!!

Re: A10 Media Day
I can't remember any year when we've had players with so many skills. Got to be great for Dan
I felt from the beginning that Martin would have a better first year than EC. (Just a gut feeling). I don't say that as a slight in any way to EC. I expect him to be great from the start. i just feel that Martin brings some skills that have been missing on the team for some time.
230 pounds? Wow. I guess that "Sweatin' to the Oldies" tape I sent him has really bulked him up.
If he still has his quickness, he's going to be special.

Re: A10 Media Day
Well according to his recruiting profile it was 180-190. How accurate that is who knows.Billyboy78 wrote:Does anybody know how much Hassan weighed coming out of high school?

Re: A10 Media Day
Now it makes sense that we are recruiting some 3s. If Hassan grows a little more (he is 17) and adds more bulk, he would be around 6'8, 240. While projected as possibly a 3 here, that sounds like the size of a 4.

Re: A10 Media Day
Exactly what I said on the recruiting site.
Martin projected as a 3 at his incoming size.
However, at 17 years old, the possibility is strong that he could grow in height
as well as weight, and project as a power forward.
He then becomes Biruta's successor, and staff looks for a SF.

Onyekaba is listed at 6"8", 240. If those numbers are correct, there is no way that Hassan is 230.

Re: A10 Media Day
I repeat, there is no way Martin is 230 pounds. I'll give anyone $100 if he is 230 or over and I'll take $5 per pound for each one that he is below 230

What are we doing, kidnapping him and forcing him on a scale? Does it matter?

Re: A10 Media Day
I thinki the point is that Jon Rothstein said that he weights 230 lbs now and that puts a perception in people's minds that he is of a different physique than he actually is. It would make one think that he is slower, a space eater inside, etc. whereas he really is very quick, smooth in transition, etc. There is quite a difference in how a player is on the court between 210 and 230 - this it the point.ace wrote:What are we doing, kidnapping him and forcing him on a scale? He is also a solide shooter from outside with a strong capability to hit the 3 point shot. He is very much at home playing the wing but can also handle the inside chores.
Point is that some of these so called experts with their twitter accounts are not always accurate and this is a clear example as such.

Re: A10 Media Day
I think the PG is more important running the break for this team than it is in a halfcourt set. The halfcourt offense is a lot of motion & a lot of picks where everyone handles the ball. It's on the fast break where we need the true PG type, someone who can either draw a defense and dish or take it all the way if the defense is giving a lane. Also, as Rod has said, the PG has to give the opposing PG hell on defense. Who's skill set fits this description the best?

Not sure any PG fits ALL of those criteria... yet. My vote is still Powell.
