Thanks Rod. Sleeping fairly well. He only gets upset when he is hungry and settles right down after. We have been very fortunate. I can't wait for him to be old enough to start coming to games with me.

Rhody Guy, once you get past the newborn stage, (yours seems like an exception!)
it gets to be fun. They get a personality and can interact.
Then they become teenagers and you become the dumbest person in world history for
a few years.
Then, when they go off in life, you suddenly have gained much wisdon according to them.
Seriously, enjoy fatherhood to the max. The time flies, way too fast.

Thanks again Rod. Hoping I can get an exception and never be the dumbest person, but what are the chances of getting this lucky twice? It looks like I will be attending the Madness with my own father btw. Looking forward to it. He is a doubter and has been needling me about the teams chances for the last couple of years. Hopefully I can convince him.

Re: Rhody Madness!! TONIGHT @ 9pm in Keaney Gym
Hits & Misses; Hits: dunks by Martin and Bruitis, Aamen energy, student turnout(Keaney almost full) Rod photo op with Rhody, Martin is going to be an impact player quickly. Misses: Jordon hare was?? no active scrimmage(would have like to see a lil up and down the court. All and all good event, like what I saw on an admitted limited eyeball test of the new players. Can't wait for season to go.....

Madness!
Great crowd at Keaney for Madness!
A boatload of recruits at the game, including Matt Cimino.
Only negative was, no sign of Jordan Hare.
Gil Biruta won the slam dunk contest, but Hassan Martin
stole the show with a wild, between the legs dunk.
Staff clad entirely in GRAY warm ups. Yuk! Guess we're channeling Georgetown
or St. Anthony's.
Crowd filled the old place, except for the end near the stage,
Got a hug from Preston, and Daryl Jasper, got to talk to Godfather Bob Terino.
Sound system was terrible.
Ramettes greatly improved, and they even did the Rockette's routine!
An army of cheerleaders, most I've ever seen at URI.
A good fun night!

Good to know.
Also, didn't see Jim Carr, either.
By the way, the strength and conditioning coach looks like
he could come in handy in a brawl.

Re: Madness!
I'm so impressed with Biruta. Yeah, all they did was a layup drill and a dunk contest, but it's easy to see his combination of strength and athleticism. I would have liked to have seen a short scrimmage, but whatever, it was fun. Lots of students, hopefully they weren't there just for the free burger. And the number one thing I got from this night? Mike Aaman is CRAZY....but in a good way.

I did see a very tall kid there. He looked pretty young. I thought it might be Tomas Murphy, but maybe it was Cimino.

Re: Madness!
Anyone know who number 33 is?
PA system was bad, so I didn't get his name when he was introduced.
He's not listed on Go Rhody.
Is he a transfer or a walk on? Looked about 6'5" or so.

105 - I never cared for the live scrimmage part of midnight madness. It was always bad basketball and I think turned more of the casual fans off. I was not there last night but it sounds like it was a pep rally with a dunk contest to get the crowd going. Sounds perfect to me.

Could be Kemp, who was injured last year. As I said,
#33 was not mentioned on Go Rhody's Ram roster.

Re: Rhody Madness!! TONIGHT @ 9pm in Keaney Gym
I think most fans, especially students who may have never attended a Madness event, walked away pumped for the season and generally pleased with the hour of entertainment they had.
Good mix of spirit teams doing their fanciest routines (cheerleaders had protective floor mats so they could try out stuff they'd likely never do on the hard Ryan Center floor), hilarious student contests, and the dunk contest made it a fun night.
I wonder if they knew the PA system would be so horrible with a full Keaney, since even when he had a working mic, our friend EZ Buckets or music could hardly be heard above the buzz in the gym. Next time, rent a simple DJ rig for the portable speakers.

Re: Rhody Madness 2013!!
#33 is indeed AJ Kemp.
Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. The student turnout was fantastic, so kudos to the Marketing dept. for great work spreading the word and getting the students there. Let's hope the trend continues in a few weeks when we get the season underway.
Also, apologies for the PA system. I obviously knew we had some issues with the wireless mic at the start, but had no idea the sound in general was so difficult to understand. I can't hear much of anything when I'm out there.

Re: Rhody Madness 2013!!
This kid is going to be a stud, and sooner than some
expected.
Also, Biruta's athleticism is amazing. He moves so well for
such a big guy.
I think we're going to really like this team.
What struck me was, while waiting in the insane line to get in (whose idea
was that?) the guys on the team were interacting with people in line.
These kids seem to really like each other, which is important.
EZ, Keaney ALWAYS had a lousy sound system.

Re: Rhody Madness 2013!!
If that was Matt Cimino at MM, my son went to school and played with him here in Maine. Matt is a very nice kid, and was the starting center on the state champioship team as a freshman, and then transferred out to prep school. He had nice inside and outside shooting, even in middle school, and is surprisingly athletic for a guy his side. Haven't seen him play since he transferred, but he is a quality kid with deep basketball roots. His sisters got D-1 scholarships -- one went to Stanford -- and his mom and dad played college ball. Good get if Rhody can get him.

Kemp used to be number 2 but Reischel has that now so he needed a new number.rodfromcranston wrote:Anyone know who number 33 is?

I was hoping there wouldn't be a 33 for a couple of years.

Re: Rhody Madness 2013!!
Overall a great night at Keaney (once word that Jordan Hare was on an excused absence circulated though the gym) that brought back lots fond memories. I had no idea those cheerleaders had such a death-defying routine that kept me on the edge of my seat. Nice to see all those students come out. If my memory serves me correctly, attendance was double that of last year’s event. I think Gil Biruta’s head is about to explode if he doesn’t get into a D-1 basketball game really soon. Hassan Martin 17 years old and pulling off NBA worthy dunks? Damn, watch out for that young man. Lastly, this team just oozes chemistry. Great job Coach!
I’m chomping at the bit for the season kick-off on November 8th and can’t wait to see that ‘other’ RI BB team (hint ranked 1st in the nation by The Princeton Review in the "Lots of Hard Liquor" category) get it handed to them in our house on December 5th. Go Rhody!
