Re: '14 Adbul-Malik Abu
Rodney Purvis (transferred to UConn) and TJ Warren were both huge recruits, and that was only two years ago. Abu was a huge commit for NCSU, but not their best in 10 years by a long shot.

OK gang, for the best interests of the program, let's
shut this down, until when and if, something becomes
inevitable.

Re: '14 Adbul-Malik Abu
For what it's worth, I think it's somewhat silly to think that an athletic program would be so far distanced from a recruit that posts on a message board would tip them off that said recruit might be unhappy. If y'all want to modify your posts, feel free, but if those rumors (or any rumors, for that matter) have gotten to the point where they're being posted about online, presumably the primaries in all of this definitely know what's going on.

Re: '14 Adbul-Malik Abu
It's not about tipping anyone off.
By NCAA rules, some of us are considered boosters.
Their definition, not ours.
So, if we in some way, urge a player to break his commitment, or pass information
that involved trying to recruit a player who has is part of another program.
that could lead to sanctions or a school putting URI on a restricted list for
said transfer.
It's considered a form of tampering.

I think this has been asked before, but is a season ticket holder considered a booster, even if he hasn't donated money to the program over and above the cost of the tickets?

I have just made a donation of $5.00 to providence college athletics so I can deemed a booster......

Am I allowed to ask that the spelling of this person be corrected? His name is Abdul, not Adbul.

Nc state summer classes
1st session. May 19th
2nd session. June 26th.
I would imagine the advanced basket weaving class takes longer.

Sorry if I got the spelling of the name wrong when I first started this thread. I never knew there was an issue with the spelling but I could have made the mistake.

Well folks, it looks like this was a pipe dream, built on 2+2=5,
and some loose talk that may well have been tongue in cheek.
Would have been one hell of a story......

Pretty easy to have 20-20 hindsight, when you were never
part of any of the discussion leading up to the story.

I looked up more about the killings. Another senseless piece of shit. Said he was an atheist and he don't like no Muslims. So yeah go kill three family members. It's mind numbing.

Re: '14 Abdul-Malik Abu (NC State signee)
Reading about the story, it seems pretty clear that the murder was about parking spaces at the condo the victims and the murderer both lived at. Totally senseless, and the guy who committed the murder was one of those nutjob gun fetishists. Religion had nothing to do with it, and doesn't really deserve to be part of the story. I guess the media knows they can sensationalize the fact that it involved an atheist and Muslims, and that the Mountain Dew drinkin' church goin' boobs in flyover country will eat that up.PeterRamTime wrote:I looked up more about the killings. Regardless of all that, the story is obviously depressingly tragic, but Abu is certainly an impressive kid. The murdered were a just-married young couple that had both recently graduated NC State and the wife's 19 year old sister. All senselessly gone because some piece of human garbage has nothing better to do all day than sit around and get bent out of shape over where other people park their cars.

No, it'll be those who cling to their bibles and guns, who the liberal MSM
will try to blame for this.
And liberal idiots will make this what it isn't.

Re: '14 Abdul-Malik Abu (NC State signee)
I'm not really politicizing it. I'm just saying the media is allowing the perception to persist that this was a religious thing by repeatedly mentioning it was an atheist who killed three Muslims. But the actual crime really had nothing to do with their religions (or lack thereof). That isn't political, its just reality. More of a statement about the media than anything.rodfromcranston wrote:No, it'll be those who cling to their bibles and guns, who the liberal MSM

Re: '14 Abdul-Malik Abu (NC State signee)
The fact that he knew they were Muslims could have set him over the top. Knowing the things he's said on Facebook. But who knows.
It's probably unnecessary to connect it to this "Islamaphobia" deal though. It's an independent event and that guy is just a damn loon. But since it involved Muslims being killed, all the bullshit that comes along with it is unavoidable.

Re: '14 Abdul-Malik Abu (NC State signee)
So, which is it?
He's nowhere close to being ready for the NBA.
Should have transferred after his freshman year.
Gottfried is a guard oriented coach, and bigs
just are there for rebounds and putbacks.
No plays run inside.

Re: '14 Abdul-Malik Abu (NC State signee)
Part of the reason he picked NC State originally was the development of bigs like Leslie, Warren, and Howell. Leaving after two seasons obviously worked well for Warren, but he's a better player. NC State seemed like it had some momentum going, but their roster is looking pretty thin with Barber and the Martin twins gone as well.
