We didn’t deserve to get ranked after that performance @ Dayton.

Re: Top 25 Polls 2019-20
Top 25 teams get blown out, but we weren't in the top 25 and haven't beaten anyone in the top 40. So...given where we were in the poll prior and how we performed at Dayton, I have to agree with 15.

Re: Top 25 Polls 2019-20
30th was about where I thought we would be
I knew BYU Ohio St and Arizona would pass us and the teams that dropped out of Top 25 would stay ahead of us
Going to be tough to crack that Top 25 we may have a shot if we win our next 3 prior to Dayton ??

I mean we were 27th, not Top 25.
So my rationale actually makes perfect sense.

with the one win being against a team that has gone winless in the a10 and was missing their best player. and you think that should move us up in the poll? usually agree with you DC, but this take seems a bit outlandish.

Ok if you wanna go with that idiotic and asinine logic, let’s just have the teams ranked in order from least losses to most. SDSU 1st, ETSU Top 15, Northern Iowa Top10, Liberty Top 25, etc etc.
Holy hell you sound ignorant right now.

It looks like Polltracker is having a hard time with the AP releasing the individual ballots this week. Per the college poll tracker twitter page its been an on going issue for a few weeks, where the AP has blocked them from messaging them on twitter and making things difficult.

Sucks AP is being difficult. College poll tracker site only exists because AP site is terribly low effort.

With #1 Baylor losing to Kansas and San Diego State getting upset on their own home court by UNLV tonight, Dayton should rise to #3 in AP
At 10pm tonight #2 Gonzaga plays #23 BYU at BYU.
With some luck from BYU, Dayton could be #2 By Monday, no worse than #3

Re: Top 25 Polls 2019-20
Recent league game results have not been good for the prospects of multiple A- 10 teams getting at large invites. The worst case scenario of just one bid is possible if Dayton keeps winning. VCU was looking good and then went completely off the rails with four straight losses. URI and Richmond hurt themselves today and are now in precarious bubble territory. The middle of the league has no chance for at large bids and these squads are making sure several teams ahead of them don't as well.

absolutely agree with this. st. joe's beating davidson, umass over st. louis, duquesne losing to GW...all of these losses hurt URI.

How about I keep it simple-No Quality Wins. No Quad one wins. Other teams like PC are moving up. Wins over St.Lous, Fordham and UMass don’t impress anyone. Why not beat Dayton at home if we deserve to make the tourney. Home teams knock off rank teams every night. This is why they have quad one wins.

PC is basically the only bubble team to help themselves the entire day. Almost every other bubble team lost today so really our position may not move much.
People do beat ranked teams, but Dayton is like the second best team in the country right now. We better get right in the fordham and SLU games before we can think about taking them down.

#23 BYU beats #2 Gonzaga on BYU home court
So #1 Baylor, #2 Gonzaga and #4 San Diego State all lose on Saturday!
Will make #3 Kansas #1 since they beat Baylor at Baylor Saturday and #5 Dayton will move up to #2
4 remaining games for Kansas are against unranked teams:
Mon, 2/24 vs OKST 9:00 PM
Sat, 2/29 @ KSU 1:30 PM
Wed, 3/4 vs TCU 8:00 PM
Sat, 3/7 @ TTU 2:00 PM

Re: Top 25 Polls 2019-20
Not sure when the last time we had 3 Mid Major Teams in the Top 5 or if that will ever happen again. Extremely rare. Take a picture of this weeks Polls with #2 Gonzaga, #4 San Diego State and #5 Dayton. May never see 3 Mid Majors in the Top 5 again.
Dayton should rise to #2. Dayton has now won 16 straight games.
Baylor losing at home as -1.5 point favorites likely drops them lower than #2, probably to #4. Might have held the #2 spot tomorrroe had the loss been at Kansas.
#2 Gonzaga, #4 SDSU drop below Dayton for sure
#6 Duke drops as they had a loss this week by 22 points @ NC State
#7 Maryland has won 9 straight. They play #25 Ohio State at Ohio State today. With a win today they could move up to #3 right behind Dayton.
It will be interesting to see how Baylor fares in the voting for Monday’s Polls.

You still didn't answer the question. How do you know we don't make the tournament if we lose to Dayton? While I agree beating them on our home floor will be the statement win we all want and need, and will help to solidify our bid and ease the pressure on the UMASS game and A10 tourney games, it is not our only path to the dance.RamStock wrote: ↑4 years agoHow about I keep it simple-No Quality Wins. You say no quality wins, and in the next sentence point out how PC is moving up. So is PC a quality win or not? Alabama wasn't a quality win? VCU on the road (a quad 1 win)? St.Bonny on the road?
The fact of the matter is your statement is 100% incorrect, so own it.

Re: Top 25 Polls 2019-20
I think the Big East is overrated, but PC ends up with a ton of big wins because they play teams that are rated high every night. The committee doesn’t look at St.Bonaventure and VCU as big wins. Davidson beat the Bonnie by 30 at their place when they were healthy. We beat them without their best player. If we lose to Dayton none of us should be surprised if we are left out. All the teams in the discussion have much better wins than Alabama and VCU. We have the opportunity to guarantee the tourney with a win at home vs Dayton. If we don’t than we have to make the finals. A win in the a-10 quarterfinals over a 7th place team isn’t enough. You can get mad about it, but other teams will move up and there will be upsets in the conference tourneys. I guess I will just take your word that we are a lockspar wrote: ↑4 years agoYou still didn't answer the question. How do you know we don't make the tournament if we lose to Dayton? Haha. Never said we are a lock, so please don't go there. My only point here was that we can still make the tourney with a loss to Dayton. Do I think it's a high probability? No, but it's possible and that's what I was pointing out. I took your statement as very literal because I tend to do that sometimes. Dayton is only ranked 4th.
That's some disrespect to Dayton and the A-10.
Dayton has won 16 straight just got a Q1 win and beat a good NIT Duquesne team by 10.
Zags beat a fringe NIT/CBI san Fran and lost by 15 to BYU and only drop one spot.

Re: Top 25 Polls 2019-20
The gap in between the top 4 teams isn’t so much
The bigger drop off is between 4th and 5th rankings
I’m satisfied with Dayton being #4
Love that we still have 3 Mid Major Teams in the Top 5 AP even with Gonzaga and San Diego State losing this past weekend
And Baylor and Kansas are both from the Same Conference
It’s going to be an interesting year to see who the Four #1-seeds will be in the NCAA Tournament.
